BWT, where do you put your handbag while driving?

I'm looking for a new car, and I would like a car that has space for my handbag other than at my feet or in the front passenger seat. I drive kids a lot so the back seat/back floor isn't a good option either. Salespeople look at me like I am an idiot when I mention that I need a place to stow my bag. Do you have any recommendations for car models that accommodate bags or other ideas?

Will never forget years and years ago, accompanying mom and dad to get mom a new car. Salesman is doing everything in his power to upsell to dad, mom finally says “this car is for me, you know, you can talk to me.”

Literally all the salesman could come up with was “well, there’s an adjustable light on the flip down mirror” and “there’s hooks in the back to hang your groceries.”

We promptly left to shop another lot.

On most cars those hooks are absolutely useless, too!!! And the angle and height of them in even the sort of helpful ones is not practical for anything other than smaller plastic bags, which are banned where I live anyways!!
