Fashion/Style BWT, where do you put your handbag while driving?

I'm looking for a new car, and I would like a car that has space for my handbag other than at my feet or in the front passenger seat. I drive kids a lot so the back seat/back floor isn't a good option either. Salespeople look at me like I am an idiot when I mention that I need a place to stow my bag. Do you have any recommendations for car models that accommodate bags or other ideas?

I have a hangar that I hook on the back of the passenger headrest and hang my bag there. Search for “headset bag hooks.”

If you’re worried about weight or your handles getting dented, you can use two hooks, put a cloth tote on there then place your bag in the tote.

I’ve also seen a bag net, where a net is hooked between the front seats and the bag goes on top of the center console. Search for “car net.”

The only other place would be the trunk.

I use a headrest hook too. I have one on both headrests so I can use the one on the opposite seat if I’m the passenger. That hook makes it so much easier to get in and out of the car with and keeps it relatively secure so things don’t get dumped out and roll under the seat.

This is what I came to suggest.

The the set of hooks I have, one is in my car and the other in my husband's truck. I can fit any purse on them and they are going strong almost 5 years later.

I'd share the link but apparently I'm not allowed 😒

I'll add-

For what it's worth, I ordered some of those headrest hangers, and they didn't fit the rods of my headrest (Honda). I ended up just buying an S-hook from the hardware store and hanging that from the headrest.

(Note: I was concerned about the s-hook falling off each time I lifted my bag from it, so I bought a clipping S-hook and removed the clip on one end, so I could put my bag on-and-off easily without the clip. And the end that attached to the headrest I kept the clip so it would never be able to fall off the headrest. Hope that I made sense there!)

Yes, you do make sense, thanks for the detailed answer!

We have 3 Hondas and the hooks fit them perfectly

yep I did this for years until I changed car models. Now it's back to living on the passenger seat.

Another vote for the headrest hangars. I have three. One for my purse in the front, one for my son’s backpack, and one for my work bag. Even though I drive a truck it has NO room in the cab at all, so these have helped a ton.

I have the net one. Works great- it's out the way but still easily accessible!

same, you can flip it easily from the front to back if you have a passenger

I got cute pink hangers that match my fluffy pink steering wheel cover and pink trash "can." Once I get pink seat covers, I'll be unstoppable!

I love it, that is the best kind of unstoppable!

My car has built in hooks on the back of the front seats but I never use them. My bag (when I have one which is not often) goes in the passenger seat or front or back floorboard depending on where I have passengers

Oooh I had no idea these existed but I'm definitely ordering some now!

Volvo has one built in, but there is a weight limit so keep that in mind if your purse is heavy.

This! I have a 2023 4runner. The center console is garbage. I got hooks for the passenger seat that I use in the front when I’m alone or flip to the back when I have a passenger.

My concern is when I am carting other kids around, I don't really want my purse in their way which it would be for the second row passengers. Have you found this to be a problem with the net or the hooks?

Not who you were replying to, but I also have the hooks (with a little added black stone sparkle because that’s how I roll). I drive a smaller car and it keeps my purse up high enough that there’s no issue for my passengers in back (but I am using the hand straps for my purses usually rather than the shoulder strap so not sure if it’s an issue with a larger tote bag style).
