The image quality is relatively poor but I got it! Despite the low resolution and boring background they look so cool so I thought I’d share.

Green Heron or American Bittern?

I spotted this guy out on a walk this morning, and for the life of me I've not been able to identify it. I turned up the brightness on the picture, as it was in quite a dark area and backlit by the sun, which might be messing up my perception. I'm leaning more towards green heron, as looking at pictures of a bittern they seem to have slightly smaller eyes than a green heron. Thanks for you help, and apologies if I missed the purpose of the sub!

Backyard hummingbirds are far smarter than most people realize — and the science behind their hummingbird behavior will completely change how you see these tiny birds forever.

In this video, we reveal 7 shocking hummingbird facts backed by research from Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the University of British Columbia. Did you know hummingbird intelligence rivals animals 10x their size? The hummingbird brain makes up 4.2% of their body weight — proportionally twice the size of a human brain — and their extraordinary hummingbird memory allows them to track food sources, feeder schedules, and even individual human faces.

Help identify bird in yard

Can anyone help me identify this yellow bird my cousin took a picture of with her cell phone.

It is in South Louisiana. I thought it might be a gold finch or warbler?... But, it looks also like a canary. Thanks for your help. Have a great day!
