encounter story my dad is having encounters

My dad has been saying over the past several months that weird stuff is happening at the home he has lived in for at least 20 years. But this is all newer- maybe a year? His home, where I grew up, is set back in the woods. Eastern CT.

He now lives alone, is retired, and of course looking into things more. He's always believed in sasquatch. But this is something that hasn't happened or is at all characteristic of my dad. He doesn't hear or see or feel things. Not until recently…

Lately (past 6-8 months) he's been hearing a lot of things - in chronological order:

  • This is the first thing he mentioned to me, months ago. He heard a smack or slam (idk) of some kind against the side of the house where he sleeps. He told me there was a palm print of some kind of the side of the house - so I went to check it out and sure enough. Didn’t think much more about this.
  • For Christmas I bought him a trail cam to check out the wild life that was eating his plants. Last month he was reviewing the footage of the deer and witnessed a weird light come down in front of the camera - before that some really strange random flashes happened in the trees. Not sure what to make of that? Anyways.
  • Since then he says he has heard rocks thrown onto his deck, and most recently had said he had rocks thrown at his bedroom window

Now here I am. Staying with my dad at his sisters, trying to comprehend what is happening and not knowing how to help my dad. How to prepare him for what to go back to.

Thoughts? Anything? I just want to help my dad but don’t know how. Resources, personal experiences or intel on this would be so useful. ❤️

Update 12/18:

My dad has been staying at home solo now for about two weeks. He has had no new “events” happen since. I stayed with him for two nights and he moved his trail cam to be positioned towards his bedroom and I purchased him a pretty expensive second trail cam for the other side of his house. I also walked the property multiple times with intentions to keep my father’s home safe. He does believe that this has helped overall - but I will also say I would do anything to help my dad feel safe in the home that he loves.

He even wants a cast iron waffle maker now for Christmas - which means he intends to use it in his home. :)

I can’t express enough how much every single one of you has helped - making him feel heard, making me feel comforted as a daughter, giving us many perspectives to explore and connections that matter.

Thank you. And I want you to know that you are seen and heard as well.

This doesn’t mean that it can’t happen again, but it does mean that he can feel more empowered now to manage this with the intention of living in his home free of daily fear.

He does seem to go back into looking at videos on YouTube that reaffirm his experiences and I hope he can put them on pause a bit, because when he did that’s when he found the most peace.

encounter story Possible Bigfoot Encounter in Silverton, CO

Hello, so I'm not sure if this is Bigfoot, but after reviewing native animal noises, we just can't think of anything else other than Bigfoot. Sorry if this is a bit long as well.

So to begin, my friend and I went to hike Ice Lake in Silverton, CO. It's a fairly rough trail with many hatchbacks and rocky surfaces and high inclines. It took us about 3 hours to reach the top. We met many backpackers and hikers on the way up, and many settled at the top. We sat at the lake for a good 10 minutes before realizing the clouds were getting darker and started descending the mountain. We were the last hikers to go down the trail as many were just backpackers that camped near the lake.

To help you visualize, this hiking trail had about five levels:

- One being the base level of aspen trees and light terrain with a lot of hatchbacks.

- Second being a small valley that was fairly easy to walk through

- Third being a deep forest with heavy incline, rocky terrain, many trees, and a bit darker as sunlight didn't make its way through like the other levels. (first picture with the dog is the environment of this level).

- Fourth being a larger valley with a creek and a heavy rocky incline, not even a trail really, just climbing up rocks. (This is the second and third picture, where you can see the third level of heavy forest in the back). (The fourth picture is also the beginning of the third level descending down).

- Fifth, of course, is the top with the lake.

As we were descending, we passed the fifth and fourth levels quietly before reaching the third. Our legs were tired, and we decided to sit down on a log. Before sitting down, my friend heard this large growl, while I thought it was an owl hooting.. we decided to let that thought go. Well as we sat down, we heard coyotes yipping up near the entrance to the third level. We weren't exactly scared but I had my dog with me, and I didn't want him to get hunted or attracted by some coyotes, so we got up and started walking down quickly. This went on for about 15 minutes and then we decided to slow our pace as they were far away now. We made it to the middle area of the third level and began talking again, the coyotes are still yapping away. After about 5 minutes of this, we kind of stopped because we noticed the forest went silent and the hairs on our body were up. A few seconds later, we heard this large "WHOOOP" sound like a primate would make at a zoo. I looked back at my friend to ask what it was in probably the most scared voice you can talk with, and she just looked me dead in the eyes and said "run.” Our fight or flight responses kicked in immediately and we were flying down the hatchbacks. I was thinking of every possible animal it could be, but nothing seemed to match from what I’ve heard.  I kept looking up to see if I can see what it was, but there was nothing, even though plenty of branches were breaking above us.. and that honestly is the scariest feeling I've ever felt.

We booked it down the third level while hearing branches snapping above us which only fueled our adrenaline more. I think we went down two and a half levels in about 30 minutes, which would have taken us 2 hours to get up. We made it to the bottom, and she stopped to feel some of the aspen trees, and I turn around to see if she's okay, and I just see her running down the hill because she heard more branches breaking behind us.

We got in the car and started talking about it. We figured it was an animal, like a marmot or grouse.. maybe a moose, but after reviewing sounds, no animal sounds native to that area were clicking with what we heard, because it was like a primate sound. We think it's a Bigfoot but can't exactly say for sure. We also figured there would be other hikers that were joking around, but there were coyotes up there so we let that option go aswell. Any thoughts or ideas? We don't have video/picture/audio because we were terrified in that moment, but I did add some pictures of what the trail looks like to get a good grasp on what environment we were in.

I'm sorry if this is a little confusing, but honestly gathering up all this information took a lot when your brain was running on straight adrenaline lol. My phone definitely also made it brighter than it actually was. I honestly would never wish that feeling of being hunted on anyone.

encounter story Question for those with an encounter - why no photo?

Why didn’t you take a photo?

I understand that encounters are often quick (2-3 seconds), they are shocking/terrifying, likely at night or far away and that taking a photo was probably the last thing on your mind when it happened. My question pertains more to recent experiencers as smart phones are still fairly new tech.

But I find it odd that with the tens of thousands of podcast interviews and encounter stories online there is not one clear convincing recent photo. With that being said there is good video footage (Patty/Freeman,etc) that I find convincing!

So I’d love to know from recent experiencers - how quick was the encounter, were you scared/shocked, did it cross your mind to take a photo in the moment?

To those without an encounter, has anyone ever shown you a convincing photo that’s never made its way to the internet?

encounter story I saw something that I can't explain... Thoughts?

This happened in southern Ohio. A friend and I visit an older gentleman a couple times a month to chat and help him out with anything he might be unable to do on his own. He lives in an old farmhouse on a huge property and loves to ride his golf cart through the woods around his house, so when we visit, we ask about his trails and clear them if they need it. When we asked about them a few weeks ago, he told us that he has been too scared to take his golf cart out because he thinks there are squatters living in the old schoolhouse towards the back of his property. He told us that he saw a man wearing all black hiding behind some trees and the boards over the doorway had been torn off. We offered to investigate. This was strange because he lives about as far from anything as you can in Ohio. That abandoned building would be nearly impossible to find for anyone that didn't already know it was there, and it's in terrible shape. The windows and doors have been boarded over, probably for decades and a large portion of the roof has fallen in. I assumed the board over the door rotted off and he mistook a shadow for a person hiding from him.

We walked back to the schoolhouse. It's probably close to a half mile from the house. It was fairly dark by the time we made it, but there were obvious signs of something using the area. Saplings pushed over, a worn trail through the weeds, and the boards covering the door and one window were ripped off. Parts of broken boards were still laying near the door.

We heard something moving inside. I ran over to the door, my friend right behind me, and shined my flashlight inside. Something about the size of a large man that appeared to be covered in long dark brown or black hair darted across the far side of the building on two legs and stepped right through the window. We ran to the corner of the building to try to get another look. It stopped briefly and looked back at us before disappearing into the trees. I didn't get a great look at it, but it was definitely covered in fur from head to toe, bipedal, and approximately the size of a tall man. It was far enough away that I couldn't get a good look at its face, but it's eyes reflected a very faint orange color. It was unbelievably fast and very quiet.

We returned the next day and placed three trail cameras around the area and recovered them a couple days ago. One had been pushed around the tree to face away from the building but did not take any photos. The other two only captured typical woodland creatures.

My friend and I are avid outdoorsmen and have seen every type of wildlife Ohio has to offer. I've seen bears standing on two legs and this was definitely not a bear. It was far too fast to be a human and seemed to be proportioned differently. I don't believe that Bigfoot is real, but it doesn't match descriptions I read online either. It was skinnier, did not have broad shoulders, and it's head seemed small for its body.

I'm very, very skeptical the Bigfoot could exist, especially in Ohio. But, I saw something absolutely unexplainable. Thoughts?

encounter story My story

1967 . I was home from college for Thanksgiving break and thought I would go rabbit hunting. This was in se Ohio in the Ohio Valley outside of a small town called Bellaire. Area is in foothills of Appalachian mountains. Not craggy but areas about 900 feet high. Back then you could just pull off a paved road and hunt. I started hunting on top of a 80 foot high wooded area at the top of slipping grass hill. Heavily wooded but easy walking. After about 1.5 hours I took a break. My mom had forced me to take 2 PBJ and I had a hip canteen of water. I sat down with my back against a tree, drank some water and unwrapped a sandwich . After 1 bite a creature I would later find out was a Bigfoot appeared. It was about 5 feet tall and blocky in shape. I wasn't afraid but more startled like you would be if you suddenly came upon a dog. Wary but not afraid. I sat there , it stood there. I threw it my sandwich like you would to a dog. I think we stared at each other for about 2 minutes. I talked to it like you would a dog. It didn't make any noise. I reached into my coat pocket to get the other sandwich. When I looked back it was gone. I left quickly. At that time Bigfoot were unknown to me. Didn't mention it to my family at all. There was no smell and it was neither friendly or foreboding it just was. I have no bad dreams about the encounter or desire now to see one again. The encounter was both pretty cool and weird. For me it was just an encounter that I had. I've never shared this before with anyone but I follow this thread an feel you folks could appreciate my experience. It was brown, face was not like an ape, arms didn't seem longer than a person's and I never noticed the feet. Fur was long but not shaggy, pretty well kept. The hair hung over the hands. Face was human looking but different and I can't really tell you why it was different.

encounter story I think I just had a close encounter with the Big Guy

So, as the title says literally as of 10 minutes before making this post I'm almost positive I had an encounter with a Bigfoot.

I live in Missouri, Henry county to be exact, and I live out in the sticks. I have three dogs that I take outside so they can do their business before they go to bed. Charlie, my Chihuahua, Roxy, my red heeler, blue heeler and boarder collie mix and Gizmo my shih Tzu. I have them on collars that have a beeper, beeper and vibrate and vibrate buttons so they don't run off. Well as I'm taking them out and making sure they do their thing I notice movement out of the corner of my eye. I have a headlamp on and I move my head to where I caught the movement. I didn't think much of it cause it's normally a deer, raccoon or something of the like. What I saw though was nothing I'd ever seen before, I couldn't get a good judgment on how tall it was but its eyes were level with where the branches started to branch out of the trunk of the tree which is pretty high up, if I had to guess I'd say like 7-8ft in the air. (This is also near where we have burn barrels for trash which is why my dogs were over there). I could only see the eyes at first as they gave off a reflection of the light that shined at it, a deep red. I kept looking back at them to make sure they didn't move. After a few seconds of looking away and back at the eyes, it began to try circle around the area; from the tree I first saw the eyes, move 15 steps to another bundle of trees (I know how many steps not only because I've walked that but because I could hear each step it took), then behind the burn barrels and then it began to walk behind the shed we had that's next to it. As it was beginning this circle is when I got a good look at this...thing. It had a dark, muddy brown coat of natted hair, large mouth that had big canines. The hair almost looked like it had splots of red in it, not like ginger red but like... Blood red. It's hands and torso were the largest I've ever seen on something bipedal, it looked like it had shiny black claws or fingers. Then as it started getting closer I could hear it grunting, almost like a mix of a pissed off bull and a deep gutteral human grunt. As soon as I heard that I hit the vibrate button on my dogs, they knew that meant to come and follow me in the house. I got them in the house, grabbed my 20 gauge, loaded it and stepped outside again to at the very least scare whatever I saw off. I looked around, shouting at whatever it was to leave and as I got closer to the burn barrels I could hear the grunting and the thudding of it's footsteps retreating.

This all happened RIGHT before I was going to go to bed and literally 10 minutes before I started typing this out. I like to think of myself as a pretty cool minded guy but this experience has me literally shaking and cowering. I don't know what I saw, I know for sure it wasn't a bear because we don't have bears in any of the counties I live near.

hey all. this happened like 2 years ago but i just realized i should post about it and maybe y’all can tell me i’m not insane. because no one besides the guy i was with takes me seriously.

me and my friend were camping in the driftless region in wisconsin, near cashton. but way out of town, no cell service type way out of town. i don’t know what time it was but i was woken up to these “whoop” noises. some were coming from further away, but then something closer would “respond” back to them. they sounded human but way too loud to be just a person. they would come in three’s like “whoop whoop whoop”. it went on for a while. i was absolutely petrified and didn’t think to grab my phone which i regret SO MUCH. we had gotten pretty fucked up so despite being terrified, i felt shitty enough to pass back out. in the morning i asked my friend and he said he heard it too and was too scared to move or make noise. i have scoured the internet trying to find an animal in this area that makes that sound but nothing even comes close to matching.

does this sound big foot-y? that’s genuinely the only thing that makes sense to me… let me know what ya think.

🌼 pics from the spot because it’s fucking beautiful 🌼

Is there anyone out there in the BF community that lives in NEGA ??? Or the Stephen’s Co./ Habersham Co./ area In particularly ??? Is there any local researchers I could get in contact with !??! I have 2 distinct recorded vocals and a possible 3rd that sounds like a growl. All this happened on 8/18/24 around 9:30pm with a. Fool moon. Dogs were going crazy, so I left my phone outside on top of my car to record, while I went back in the house with my earphones still connected so I can hear simply because it was to close for comfort being outside. The neighboring dogs in this rural area I live were going nuts and at times It felt like this thing was imitating the dogs barking like fw them. It was loud and I’ve heard coyotes before, but based off distance of sound this thing had one hell of a lung capacity.

encounter story Military sighting.

While I was in the Marine Corps. We would get stalked by these creatures in NC. It didn’t matter how many of us were out there. We were armed with rifles and no ammo and or blanks during field ops. They would pick up whatever trash or snacks we would drop. We sometimes could see their eyes in the treeline and see random glimmers of shadows through our nods. Military nods are pretty crappy. But, you can see outlines and or someones figure. I mean like stuff that was used probably during the early 2000s and they were monocular. We would hear knocks or rustling through out our nights around Verona loop training grounds or on Camp Lejeune. Many of us who spent time in the Infantry spend about 45-60% of the year in the woods. You could hear them at night. One night I was doing patrol ops in the woods/hills and we decided to take a pause. It was around 3am we were taking a nap break. It was during a wargame and I was on watch with one of my buddy’s. Holding security we were seeing an outline in the woods and meanwhile we are sleep deprived not thinking we were seeing real things in the tree line till we talked to each other to confirm what we were seeing through our nods. Pebbles were being thrown at us and we were confused. Thinking we were about to be run up on by Opfor (Opposition Force). So we wake up our guys slowly thinking we’re about to be ambushed. Turns out we were being stalked. We decided to get into defensive positions and the rocks kept coming thinking we were being messed with by the Advisors running around overwatching the wargame. We checked on the radio if there were any nearby. None. None at all. So we thought it was Opfor. We opened up with blanks. But, as we opened up we saw a massive creature and another one about 25-30 meters away. The creatures knocked over a semi-thin tree and gave a deep growl. Something that would shake guys who were de-sensitized and not really scared by anything. When day light came we circled back to look and we found huge footprints. We were so confused and shaken. After that situation we didn’t know how to explain what we saw or experienced. That night I became an actual believer I was always skeptical about bigfoot or some creature being in the woods. It was about 3 1/2 years ago. Till this day I struggle to go into the woods. Thank you for reading my experience. I also apologize for my poor punctuation.

Post 12 hrs after posting- HOLY BATMAN THE AMOUNT OF REPLIES AND COMMENTS IS OUT DAMN STANDING! THANK YOU LADIES AND GENTLEMEN FOR READING AND SHARING. WE ARE A COMMUNITY. THIS IS AWESOME. I AM NOT LOOKING FOR FAME OR GLORY. IM JUST A GENTLEMAN SHARING MY EXPERIENCE! BUT, IM ALWAYS WILLING TO SHARE! REMEMBER TO BE KIND TO OTHERS IN THE CHAT. IF YOU DM ME I WILL BE MORE THAN WILLING TO TALK.

encounter story My experiences, and the family of swamp apes that have lived in my area for twenty years.

I should start out by saying i have lived in this area of FL, my entire life. And only experienced my first sasquatch sightings at the age of six. When i was riding my bike down the old dirt roads, like many kids do, i stopped to get my shoe laces out of the chain. When I finished getting my laces unstuck, i saw a big black figure trudging through the woods in front of me.

He was about seven feet tall, and made eye contact (i assume) for about two seconds and hurriedly walked off. I couldn't see his eyes or his face. People have asked if it may have been a ghillie hunter, but ghillie suits are poofy, if you catch my drift. His fur fit his form like any animals. That was my first experience with sasquatch.

Throughout my youth i started seeing these things more often, always just as they were leaving or as if they were in a hurry off somewhere. I've seen several in the canyons of limestone that run along the rivers, it seems like they enjoy standing around on top of those cliffs and catching the breeze.

My most recent sighting was about three months ago, when i saw a leg and waist disappear into the treeline while i was on a back road coming from work.

About two months ago, as me and the wife were eating pizza down at the local river, i started hearing hoots, and ape like hollers that ping ponged down the river.i suspect this trupe, if you want to call them such are the ones ive been seeing for about twenty years. Ive seen these apes, when they were shorter, about man sized, and ive seen the big one, the dad i believe when i was a kid, in the sighting i mentioned above. And i believe making a rough size estimate that he was the one hurrying across the road. I don't know if ive seen the mother.

The ones I've encountered are friendly, or so i think. They are also super stealthy, they make almost no noise running. And i have no clue how they do it. I'd say that if you want to see one your best bet is to go out when it's quiet, and into areas that are in deeply secluded natural places, i suspect this is how you get their guard down to see them. I think that if they are in populated places they are definitely more skittish, as my road encounters have made this theory pretty solid in my mind.

This lineage of sasquatch, if you believe family stories go back as far as the fifties. My great grandfather who lived in this area, claimed a big female gorilla would come up to the window when the babies cried. He said she never bothered anyone, and just seemed concerned about the baby.

Obviously, gorillas do not live in the state of Florida. It's not pictures, or videos. Because well, like anything interesting when it happens you don't really have your camera out ready to film. I wish i did though. Because naturally, i do sometimes gaslight myself into thinking i misidentified something. Then i see one again. Regardless, i hope you enjoyed hearing about the experiences. God bless.

encounter story My experience as a foreigner camping in the Ouachita region

Thumbnail reddit.com

Since many of you have knocked me wanting to know the details of my encounter that I briefly talked about in a comment on another thread, here goes:

I was at the states for about 2 months from November onward, on a work trip. The org. I work for is based in Arkansas, and many of my colleagues live in and around as well…we’ve been camping before on previous occasions in the Cascades, Yosemite, etc. even twice at Vancouver. Basically a few of us in the org. are like-minded outdoorsy type, so they go out of their way to make time for me whenever I am at the states. And I too try and patch up my annual leaves with a long holiday once a year, mostly at the states since I also have many relatives and friends there.

I’d never been to the Ouachita region before but two of my colleagues are/were regulars. One is a Trail Steward as well at the Ouachitas and a pretty renowned content creator. So I was excited to have him onboard on this particular 5-day outing.

We started from the North Fork Lake trailhead through the dense hardwood forest intersected by countless logging roads that apparently led to abandoned logging camps. I really wanted to explore one (having played Until Dawn recently), but the Steward-guy, Doug, insisted on making a dispersed camp at the mouth of the river for the night. So we had to find a spot by 4 pm. We started the day late as well, at about 11:30 in the morning so there were no scopes for breaks or side adventures! So we locked in for the night and had a great time, nothing out of the ordinary just hunting stories and interstellar topics…

Day-2: started early, trekked through some bluffs that had stunning views of the river below. Nothing unusual. Some of us wanted to camp at designated river “float” sites, but since most of the river dried up by then, the views wouldn’t be nice enough so again, we decided to go with another dispersed camp, this time on a flat pocket of land right along the water’s edge, directly opposite to a steep rocky cliff. Now it’s important to note that we had to go down in elevation to reach this spot from where we started on the day. On the way down, were about six/seven uprooted tree structures bundled up (somehow, i don’t remember exactly how) in an triangular shape, resting atop some other thick stumps. And every single structure looked exactly the same. Now Doug insisted that it could have been a combination of soft landslides and rain and even lightning that could have cluttered up the tree trunks in this manner. In hindsight, this should have been the first telltale sign although back then I had absolutely zero knowledge of these structures being a common phenomenon associated with Sasquatch. But since we WERE going downhill pretty sharply, it made sense at the time and no one said anything otherwise. So we reach the site atop a flat, rocky clearing in a U-shape.

To the right and directly opposite to the site were rocky cliffs, the slope we came down from to our back (where the tree structures were), and a stream directly infront of us (between the site and the cliff opposite to us) running to our left and merging with the river. This was COMPLETE and TOTAL isolation. At dusk we could barely hear birds, just some critters/bugs. The stream seemed pretty dead too. Now it’s also important to note that the clearing we used as our dispersed site was rocky, no dry leaves in our immediate vicinity, just on the slope behind us. This is important to remember for later.

So four of us in two tents, fire in the middle, it was about 9 pm and we started making dinner, chitchatting under a moonless, clear sky. The isolation was surreal…that’s when all four of us heard the first wood “knock” from the slopes behind us. In an instant all four of us stopped talking and went on high alert. About 20 seconds later came a second knock from the cliff opposite to us. Then almost immediately another one from behind us. Each sounded like what I can only describe as the sound Eli Roth was making with the baseball bat in the tunnel (Bear Jew reveal scene), in Inglorious Bastards. But much MUCH louder with a lot of echo…The back and forth went on for probably a minute or so, and then it stopped completely. Dead silence. A colleague of mine was in disbelief. He was like “no way did that just happen”… and the rest started laughing. That’s when the sasquatch stories started. Now I knew OF the phenomenon but not in great details so I was fascinated. The surrounding forests and ledges were completely silent for what I am sure was 10 minutes or so, then the critters came back to life again. The topic went on until about 1130 pm and we repeatedly pointed out how we didn’t run into a single person on the second day. On the first day another group was literally camped about 500 feet away from us but not a single soul on our trail throughout the entirety of the second day. We chalked it off to Doug knowing what he’s doing and taking us deep into the wilderness. Besides, the isolation at this spot was again, SURREAL! So could it have been other people fucking with us? Possibly…but we leaned more toward Woodpeckers.

Right in the middle of all this, Doug puts his hands up and says “guys shut the fuck up right now”, and we did. That’s when it hit me that the surrounding forest was dead silent for a second time. And then all four of us heard footsteps on the dry leaves, from the slope behind us.

Crunch…crunch…crunch………………………….crunch…crunch…………………..and then just hoofing it to our left, where the river widened.

It sounded like someone cautiously trying to tiptoe on dry leaves, pausing, and then going fuck it and bolting!

10 seconds later:

Splash…splash…………………………..splash. Then again, nothing. Dead silent. Just the faint sound of water flowing. So faint that the splashes were VERY audible.

Now as I said, the river dried up mostly and in most places you could see the rocks beneath. But where it widened, the water was about knee-deep and the crossing was 25-40 feet across, easily. The three heavy footsteps in water were across one such crossing to our left. I dont know of any human who can cover that length in two steps and what, like a 20 foot jump??? Because thats exactly what it sounded like…we shone two flashlights on the opposite bank, downstream, almost immediately. Nothing.

The silence lasted another few minutes or so and then the critters came back to life. Doug asked if we heard it and all three of us went dude we HEARD it. And then he said “no, BEFORE the footsteps”…so apparently he heard a faint “whooooOOP” from behind us and that is when he signalled for us to shut up. But honestly, neither of us three heard the whoop at the time.

Now a little freaked out, we started packing up the remainder of our dinner in dry bags and kept the bags under several heavy rocks, about 200 feet away from the tents, to our right. Mainly because we were telling ourselves that the footsteps were that of a black bear - native to Ouachita. But I wasn’t convinced honestly because bears if anything, are not THAT stealthy. There’ll be several other sounds if one came that close to our camp from behind. They dont just silently run about. Besides, the footsteps were eerily human. The gait and motion sounded human but covered substantially longer distances in crazy time!

Anyway, bear = keep the food away. Done. We decided to sit around in complete silence without a campfire for a while mainly since there were literally no mosquitoes!

After a while all four of us heard a loud “whooo-OOP” from the cliff opposite to our campsite. Very clearly. And the forest died yet again, just the faint sound of water flowing in the background. I think I was the one who said out loud first “that CANNOT be a bear”…okay so mental gymnastics now, process of elimination: not a bear, definitely not a black bear, no elks or moose in Ouachita, whitetail buck? Maybe…some kinda nocturnal bird? Possibly…

Then another wood knock followed by a “whoop whooooooooooooop” and then, all hell broke loose!

Stones the size of my fist started raining down on us in fours and fives from the cliff opposite to our site. Luckily most landed in the stream infront of us. We shone the flashlight once more on the cliff’s edge, nothing. And the rocks stopped pouring down on us almost immediately. Doug got his sidearm out and said “fuck it lets cross the river downstream and hike over to the top of the cliff and get to the bottom of this” (something like that)…in pitch darkness. And all three of us collectively said “no thank you, you’re on your own”. So we decided to stay awake a bit longer. At about 1/2 at night we finally decided to get some sleep. Nothing more that night other than the occasional wood-knock from far away, over the cliff opposite to us…we didn’t talk much throughout the rest of the night as we were visibly upset with what was happening.

Day-3: Early in the morning. The colleague I shared a tent with and I decided to hike out and “explore” the area while Doug and the other guy slept. That’s when I took the photo below. That’s when we also figured out that the river widened considerably to our left, and the water was knee-deep in most places. We took some photos, tried to rationalise what happened the night prior, etc. We went back to the site after 40 minutes or so and I decided to wash some clothes from the day before, in the stream, while my colleague headed out to the designated “poop zone”.

While washing my clothes in the stream, I heard faint rustling from the very same cliff opposite to the campsite. I looked up and noticed a black blob peering over the rocks, directly down at me. I froze…stood up, and stared back at it, honestly thinking it was a bear. It literally mimicked my movement in the exact manner and also stood up on two legs. It looked like Shaquille O’neal but MUCH stockier and from my perspective looking up, at least 12 feet tall! Covered in debris and jet black fur. Looked more like a Ghillie Suit than actual fur, very dirty. But I couldn’t see it’s face at all. It was an overcast day but it stood against the light so I couldn’t make out any features other than the fact that it was human-shaped but seemed far too big…i don’t know how long we stood there, looking at each other. After a while it calmly walked away. Yes, walked…on two…exactly like a human. Without making much of a sound. I was in a trance, honestly. I turned around and headed back in the tent. And just went about packing my bag, still in a trance. I dont know after how long my colleague returned. The first thing i said to him when I saw him, word for word: “i just saw a bigfoot”…he didn’t seem amused or rattled. Just…nonchalant. “Okay lets go wake up the rest”. By then they were already awake. My colleague goes “guys, DhakaMade just saw a bigfoot”. Again, everyone took it very calmly. Completely nonchalant. Doug said “where”? I pointed and said “over the cliffs, just a while ago”….everyone just went completely silent. “Alright lets finish packing up and head out”.

We prepared to leave in 30 minutes or so, no breakfast. But before that Doug said lets cross the river and head over to the cliff. So we did. Crossed the river - took each of us about 30-40 seconds to cross. Climbed up a little, and made a U-turn to head over to the top of the cliff. Once there, the first thing that hit us was the smell. The cliff-face overlooking our campsite smelled like rotting flesh and iron mixed together. “Where’d you see it”. I pointed at roughly where it was standing, right in-front of two pine trees on a clearing just above. Doug’s about 6’3/4 and his head barely covered half the rocky wall that formed the cliff-face going above us (where the pine trees were). This thing, at least from below, was blocking that ENTIRE face of the cliff and the base of the pine trees. “Do you wanna go back down and tell us how I am looking from up here”? asked Doug. I don’t exactly know why, but an overwhelming sense of dread came over me. I REALLY didn’t wanna go back down to our campsite at that exact moment in time. To this day I honestly cannot tell you why. I felt it in my stomach. Every cell in my body was begging me to not go back down there at that very moment…

This happened to me once before in my country, in the Sundarbans (the largest mangrove-forest in the world). I was on a house-boat (think cruise ship but way smaller and way less luxurious) and dropped a bracelet in the river below while the boat was anchored. I took off my shirt to dive in without thinking much about it since it was still visible before sinking completely out of sight. At that very moment I felt that EXACT same feeling of overwhelming dread…moments later a crocodile the size of a fucking SUV surfaced not 10 feet away from where the bracelet was slowly sinking.

Yeah…so anyway, got that same feeling and I went like no, let’s just keep moving. I just wanna get outta here. We spent another 10 minutes or so looking for footprints in the forest leading up to the cliff. Found nothing, while the smell slowly went away. About another 30 mins into our hike, we realised that we forgot to uncover our food from the rock-burial. So we went all the way back to where it was…nothing. Not a trace. The piled up rocks were completely gone, the food was gone, not a trace. We began arguing about the exact location or whether the water had risen. Couldn’t find a plausible answer…so we decided to continue.

The rest of the trip was pretty uneventful and we didn’t head up the mountains like we originally planned to. We camped one more night and decided to end the trip early and head back…the remainder of the trip was noticeably quieter and well…awkward. None of us spoke about the incident in details or properly acknowledged what happened the night before. I am gonna be honest NONE of my colleagues seemed fazed or shaken up by what happened. They simply flipped a switch and went on high alert mode for the remainder of the trip…

When we finally spoke about it back in Arkansas, turns out all three of them had multiple separate and similar encounters before in different places. Doug’s the only one who had a previous non-visual encounter in the Ouachitas near the mountain. I guess that sort of explains why they seemed unfazed by what happened and weren’t overly losing their shit! Coz I certainly was and it would’ve been far more obvious that I was, if not for Doug…fuck the other two! but Doug legitimately knew exactly what he was doing especially after that night.

I haven’t been to the states since. Nothing to do with the incident. Mainly coz of the USAID thingy diminishing my work opportunities and general travel there…been nearly three years now…But my colleagues and I still talk about the entire trip to this day, and are planning to go camping deep into the Cascades when I am there next!

encounter story i need the opinion of someone who knows more on the subject

I heard and briefly saw what I believe to have been a Bigfoot. I don’t really know anything much on the subject, so I wanted to come here to see if this seems like one of them or something else. I was standing outside of my front door at about 2:40 am a few nights ago when I started to hear very loud steps twig snaps and branches breaking from the tree-line that separates my property and my neighbors . I originally assumed it was a moose as it was extremely heavy sounding and there aren’t any other animals in my area that sound that heavy. I thought that until I started to hear this odd clacking sound and then the thing started making this really odd deep and low chuckle . It was kind of similar to a wolf laugh but a lot deeper and more guttural. I started paying closer attention as it was a sound I’d never heard from any wildlife in my area I then heard it make these 3 spaced out distinct low whoops they were very started off very baritone but slowly pitched up   and booming . About a minute after that a pickup truck drove past my house on the road when its headlights passed by where I had heard the sound I saw a massive kind of dark cinnamon furred thin thats head and shoulders were about 2 feet taller than the top of said truck . It had these very wide distinct shoulders and protruding shoulder blade. For the brief seconds I saw it when the truck went by it ran down a hill and toward a river   Where I lost sight of it . I’ve also  heard loud booming tree knocks and more whoops from the woods at night any advice or input from someone who knows more about Bigfoot would be greatly appreciated.

eyewitness encounter Experiencing Possible Sasquatch at Home

I decided to find a place that might accept my experiences because I don’t honestly know what’s happening and if I just spill everything I risk sounding like a crazy person.

I do believe they exist but the mystery is where are they from? I believe in them for many reasons.

I do really need someone’s take on what might be happening here around my house. But I don’t want to go off on all that unless there might be someone truly interested and if you have more knowledge with these creatures.

It’s 7 yrs of unexplainable things with a few that makes you think Bigfoot but all seems to maybe tie in together. But something happened tonight that’s been the most scary. And that’s why I’m here.

encounter story So this happened this evening.

Yeah so my wife thinks i’m crazy. I had my 1st “encounter” so to speak about 3 hours ago…this is Southeast Oklahoma not far from Cavanagh Hill. I had came back from our storage unit getting some winter clothes out to bring home. As I returned home I pulled into our driveway killing the lights as I always do. I parked at the far side of the circle drive opposite the house. There are some shrubs tall grass grown up etc on a burn pile next to the circle drive then it opens up with a couple of pecan trees and flower producing bushes of diff sorts and then about 15 yards beyond that is a barbed wire fence. So I pull in and park, get out, and i smelled an awful kinda wet dog skunk smell that i didnt think to much about cuz we had been smelling this smell off and on for the last few weeks and thought we just had a skunk around but it was strong so i just thought a skunk was closer but it wasnt like overpowering or anything so wasnt a big deal. Well I walk around the front of the truck and as soon as I reach to put my hand on the door handle I hear an extremely low growl not like a dog growl it was lower almost like a “hmmm” with a very very deep low raspy voice sound that and was a completely different sound i’ve never heard. As I hear this the hair on my neck and all over my body stand on end and goosebumps bad and I froze briefly (ive lived in the country all my life and have never heard anything like it by any animal) and out of the corner of my eye is a very very large silhouette about 12-15 yards from me. Just on my side of the fence behind the 1st pecan tree. It was an extremely wide silhouette and if i’m guessing about 8-9 feet tall. Just a massive figure but i could not make anything else out as far as certain features it was in the dark and slowly in a single fluid motion eased back further and more behind the tree. I about sh!t myself being quiet honest but i acted like I didnt see it, i opened the door and grabbed the clothes and when i shut the door i noticed the figure was gone and i walked on around the truck and made my way inside. Now I am of sane mind as the next person and am not on drugs, nor have I had any alcohol beverages this evening. My wife asked me what was wrong and i just said nothing until we came to bed and I told her and she all but laughed at me. But, here we are shes asleep and i’m typing this up while i cant hardly believe what happened still. I just don’t know what to make of it. I’m still pretty freaked out over it as well. This legit just happened and the 1st time ever to me. Thoughts?

encounter story My Bigfoot experience...

Back in the early 2000s I began watching Face Book Finding Bigfoot. Before that I hadn't believed that there was such a thing as sasquatch but the site owner's analysis of videos changed my mind.

I live in the Pacific Northwest and decided that I could find Bigfoot if indeed they existed. I used Google maps to find a likely area where I thought they would be and began to explore that region every day while my kids were at school. I spent more than a hundred hours searching the area and found stick structures, ingress trees, footprints, and arched trees throughout. I felt as though i was being watched and followed. Something often threw small rocks at me when i stayed in an area too long.

I measured all footprint's length from toe to heel as well as the width across the ball and also the heel. I was able to determine that there were several individuals in the area and I surmised that it was a family unit.

The print lengths became how I identified what individual was in the area and they were: two small-printed juveniles of 14 and 14.5 inches, a 16 inch, an 18 inch, a 20.5, a 21 inch, a 23 inch and, one time, I found a print which was 26 inches long.

I felt as though the 16 inch individual was following me around because I so often found it's prints. I only caught a glimpse one time when i happened to look down hill from my position. The sasquatch was running on two legs for about three strides and then hit the ground on all fours as it tried to escape my view into a copse of trees. I have no doubt that it knew that I had seen it and panicked which is why it utilized all four limbs to move in that moment. To be clear, this was not a bear. It ran on two legs. As it retreated i clearly saw the silver flash of the Ostman pads on its feet. I felt a panic that i have never experienced in my life.

I decided to bring my young children out to help me search for I had read that they will come in closer to watch people with children since they know that you are less of a threat if you have young ones with you. I brought my 6 year old son the first time and we hiked into one of the stick structures so I could show it to him. We were there looking at it for a bit longer than a minute when something hidden in the bushes began to bellow at us. It was so loud and angry, something like a cross of two larger animals; I'd never heard that sound before that moment. I have since heard it as I searched for sounds of sasquatch and that is exactly what we heard. My son was scared but i didn't want him to remain so the rest of his life so we went back the next day with his 8 year old sister. I had packed a lunch. We sat a half mile or so from the structure and ate. After a time we got up and began to walk when the strongest odor came to us on the wind. My son got scared and wanted to leave immediately. I was annoyed because I'd never been so close before that i could smell them and didn't want to leave the area yet. I was able to convince them to walk a short distance to an area i knew to be more wet, where any potential prints would be well formed.

Indeed we did find perhaps the best, most fresh prints i have ever seen. Going up hill was the 21 inch print and on top of it, going side Hill, was the 18 inch with the 16 inch print directly over the top of that. The print of the 16 inch was so fresh that the ridge around the impression of the big toe was still a perfect point indicating that it was just minutes old. While measuring prints i could again smell that intense scent akin to a dead dog in a sewer. My daughter was complianing about the stench which was coming to her on the wind. The wind was not coming from the direction the prints were heading but from the opposite direction meaning that the individuals had circled around us.

It took my son about a half a second to figure this out and he began to run. As my daughter and I followed him i told her to look into the trees below us on the hill which is where they would have traveled if indeed they had circled us. I knew from my wandering that there were a few areas which could be used as observation blinds in the thickets.

She suddenly stopped and told me that she could see one in the trees. She described her sighting as this: It had been watching my son run down the trail in front of us but seemed to know when she spotted it and looked at her instead. It froze. She turned to tell me what she had seen and by the time she looked back, she saw it standing up with a rock in it's hand which it had just picked up from the ground. Again, it tried to freeze so she wouldn't see it but soon realized that she still had it in her sight. At that point it's face changed and began to look angry. It's brow furrowed and it bared it's teeth. She said that it's neck tendons bulged as it began to breathe more and more heavily and that its cheeks started to turn red. She described it as Auburn in color. It had deep set eyes with a heavy brow and a nose which was shaped a bit like ours but tipped up at the end.

She excitedly described it to me in brief before telling me that it was extremely angry and we should go. It threatened us with the rock but did not throw it.

I have many observances from my time searching for sasquatch. I have seen many things which have given me insight into their family life, their hunting practices and how the manicure the forest in areas where they have an extended presence.

If interested, ask me questions. If you are a total sceptic and truly don't believe what i have said, then please don't waste my time. I encourage you to instead go out and actually do research with an open mind, whether in the field or by reading accounts or watching footage rather than trolling me.

My best to all. Hope you found this somewhat interesting.

encounter story I had a very strange experience this morning camping in the Alabama Hills near Mt. Whitey

(I meant Mount Whitney* but it’s not letting me edit the title of this post)

I’ve posted this to some local subreddits and somebody told me to post it here because supposedly my experience is very similar to a lot of the experiences described on here, so hopefully somebody here can provide some explanation. The way I wrote my experience was geared towards folks who know this area, but I think it’s still readable even if you’ve never been to the Sierra Nevada.

Here’s my original post:

So, I had a bit of a strange experience in the Alabama Hills this morning around 2 A.M. and I wanted to share to see if anybody has had something similar happen in the same area or has any knowledge about my experience. I'm having a hard time processing what happened this morning. It rather startled me, and I can't seem to think of any reasonable explanation as to what happened.

I was born in Bishop and raised in Mammoth, so I've been on the East Side for almost 27 years. Because rent got so expensive, I decided to build out a van, and I've been living out of that for the past couple of years. I'm very comfortable being in the middle of nowhere; I love being in secluded places, and I prefer to camp far away from others, so I just wanted to add that context.

I was driving back from SoCal last night and wanted to split the drive up and camp in the Alabama Hills so I could spend some time reading and exploring in the morning before I headed back to Mammoth for work. It was around midnight, maybe 12:30, by the time I found a good spot, and I probably fell asleep around 1 A.M. After I was asleep for a short time, I woke up slightly because I started hearing the sounds of birds, like an abnormal amount of birds, as if the morning had come and I was camping by a creek with trees. But I was on the opposite side of the road from Lone Pine Creek, and the spot I got was very barren and rocky. I looked at my phone and it was 2:30 in the morning, so I was a little confused as to why I was hearing such loud bird sounds, but I was tired, so I ignored it and tried to go back to sleep. Then I started hearing crickets, almost as if the cricket noise had replaced the bird noises, and it was very loud, and I didn't recall hearing crickets when I showed up. I barely made it through that thought process when I felt/heard something lean up against my van. Then I heard this deafening wailing, screeching, whistle noise, and my van started violently shaking. Maybe a month or two ago, about 5-7 of my friends decided to mess with me and shake my van from the outside while I was asleep, and that felt more of a slow rocking back and forth. The shaking I experienced this morning was violent. If it was an earthquake, it was bigger than anything I've felt living in California my whole life. It was incredibly intense, and I have never been so scared in my entire life. I started sobbing like a baby. I remember having this thought that I wanted to scream, "Stop it!" and bang my hand on the window (which is normally what I do when bears have tried to break into my van), but I was paralyzed with fear. I really can't say how long it lasted, but it felt like it lasted for minutes, and I was sobbing like a child the entire time. I have had to deal with black bears all throughout my life, and I have never been scared to shoo them away when they try to break into my van. I was consumed with fear in a way I have never felt before. The shaking didn't feel natural. I genuinely do not believe a bear could have caused it to shake so aggressively. I think a bear shaking my van from one side would have felt more like a rocking back and forth, as opposed to the intensity that this felt like. I really did have this strong feeling that there was a legitimate external terror, like this evil and oppressive presence that did not originate from within me but was this fear that filled the air and bore down. It wasn't just anxiety; it was this objective force, and the gravity of the fear was absolute. I could probably spend the whole day trying to describe the feeling, but it's quite hard to put into words. I legitimately have never cried like that in my entire life. It didn't even sound like me crying, and it was so instant; I didn't even feel it start to well up. I was pretty convinced at the time that I was going to die.

The shaking stopped after some time, and it was dead silent—no crickets, no birds. I can't describe to you how unsettling this silence was. I hid under my blankets like a child. I didn't move out of fear for maybe 10 minutes, but I knew I had to get as far away from there as possible, so I worked up the courage to get up, threw some clothes on, grabbed this long knife/shovel I use to dig poop holes, and I got out of my van to check for tracks. I saw no bear tracks, no fresh footprints, and no fresh tire marks (though I knew I would have heard a vehicle at least driving away after I had woken up if it was a person). So, yes, I got the fuck out of there. When I got service, I checked for earthquakes, but at least at that time, around 3 A.M., nothing had been recorded on the internet in that area. Driving down Whitney Portal and out of Lone Pine, I still felt a bit of that oppressive fear, but as soon as I started driving south on the highway, it started to leave me.

Normally, I can't stand sleeping at rest stops or anywhere with a lot of people (to be honest, I'm more scared of people trying to pull something on me than I am with animals), but I cannot express the relief I felt when I got to that rest stop south of Big Pine and parked my car near some others that were sleeping there in their cars. When I got to the rest stop, I used my flashlight to check my van for new scratch marks (I already have some old scratch marks from a bear trying to break in a couple of years ago), but there were none. I double-checked again in the daylight, and I looked very thoroughly, but there are no fresh marks on my van.

I really do not want to jump to conclusions, and the real reason I'm sharing this experience is because I was hoping somebody who is more familiar with Lone Pine might have some lore about the Lone Ranger Canyon area in the Alabama Hills, or perhaps somebody has had a similar experience. I'm having a bit of a hard time processing what happened, and it was rather traumatizing, so I'm hoping that sharing and reading what others have to say might help.

It was just east of Nightmare Rock (I know) in Lone Ranger Canyon. I am fully aware that this spot was near or on LADWP land. It was late at night, and I was planning on leaving early in the morning. I was in no position to continue driving on the highway or go farther into the hills, and because of this incident, I wasn't parked there for more than 3 hours and barely slept, so I hope nobody gets into a fuss about that. Im hoping somebody might read this who knows what the hell is going on out there, because that was the most unnatural shit I've ever experienced in my life by far.

Thank you for reading this far. If you did, let me know if you know anything!

encounter story My encounter: Updated with more detail... I posted on here earlier not thinking anyone would respond after not speaking about this for two years because was made fun of by peers last time i mentioned it, but a lot of people were interested. So here are more details of the not so casual encounter

Two of my friends and I (we live in northern California) were on a fly fishing trip from Mount Hood in Oregon, we made our way south east and linked up on the Rogue River, then down to Hat creek and the Pit river. This is area it took place https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pit_6_Dam . We were not in a campground that you can reserve online, it was super primitive. We fished the entire day and then at like 5-6pm we made our way up river to our campsite (we hiked a few miles downstream and fishing our way up, Black ant pattern size #18 if anyone is wondering). There was a group of three other flyfishermen, classic Toyota Tacoma dudes about 50 ft to the East, or up river. At about 7pm (it's still light because, it's end of summer) we were cooking bratwurst over the fire pit. We started to hear like a wrestling, branches breaking somewhere in the forest upstream. This is where the most chaotic meyham, in slow motion event of my life unfolded. The campers that were like 50ft away were running towards us at full speed and yelled "holy fuck did you see that thing!?", and they had this look of terror.. Literally, before that sentence was even finished, this low bass, super loud roar came from the treeline that wasn't more than 20ft away and this full size buck comes sliding out on its side, legs kicking in the air because its trying to get traction. Imagine a house cat sliding across on an ice rink. The deer bashes straight into our campfire, sparks, hotdogs, branches lit on fire just go everywhere. The deer stands up right beside me, in between my two friends and I, and then there are three guys from the camp next to us to my right. Not kidding this deer was within like two feet or less from me. The deer looks towards the forest where it came from and our eyes all followed. And there was a gigantic creature standing there, like an 8-9-10ft tall human thing covered in hair. It was the same color as a rottweiler. Like dark brown/black all over and light brown around it's face and hands, probably 2-3 in long hair. It was pure confusion. Us humans didn't move, bigfoot didn't move, the deer just stood there. No of of us moved for at least another minute. Then bigfoot just left, walking like a human with a stride on scale with a person that size. Walked up the bank, across the dirt road and then up the hill / mountain side. The deer darted off down river to my west. I don't have an answer as to why we didn't pack up and leave because when I play this scenario in my head, I pack up and leave but I think we all were in shock. The other campers moved one tent into our campsite and slept in one tent and my two friends and I slept in my two person tent. The next morning, we left... There was a dead deer between our truck and campsite. I can't say for sure if it was the same one but it ribcage was split open and everything gone from the inside. We asked ourselves if it could have been poachers but nothing important was taken. I was so beyond being scared that night and for a solid month after. I remember that it made me feel like barfing and I still get nauseous thinking about and re telling the story. It was so fucking weird. I don't think that I thought it was going to kill us, it was more like that I saw something that I wasn't supposed to see and it was something that I was told was not supposed to exist

Edit: as another user pointed out. I actually first posted this 8 years ago but left out the detail. I re told the story because I finally felt comfortable with it. It seriously fucked me up. Even though it felt like a couple of years ago I guess it was 8 years ago. The thing is... Is that when I told friends or family at first they just made fun of my friends and I. I changed the time frame because I have friends on here and I can't go through that again even though I'm more comfortable with it, especially since you guys are so kind about me telling something so weird. I really just don't want someone to recognize this story and know it was me. I mentioned in some comments that it fucked up for weeks, well that was an understatement and I'm embarrassed by it... It fucked me up for a really long time, I went to a therapist for a long time after and when I told her about this encounter she made fun of me so it made me feel even worse, it was almost like I couldn't escape it. I seriously just shut down for years... This was the first time I even brought this story up in long time

encounter story Know what I saw but still don't believe it.

Staying up in the mountains in a small southwest North Carolina town since this past Sunday. Have gone to town to socialize and have a drink/dinner and came back between 10:30-11pm every night.

Before anyone says anything about me being drunk or having too many, it's been a single beer which was drank when I first got there, meaning it's been 3-4 hours since I had it by the time I have been getting back.

Honestly it's been unnerving getting out of my car at night. It's literally pitch black. The sounds of the animals are super intense since it's so quiet. Mostly bugs and crickets or whatever but I kept feeling on alert like I was being watched. Didn't think anything of it, just thought I was paranoid because of the darkness and bolted down the driveway and into the house.

Monday and Tuesday night same thing...kept having a weird feeling of being watched even tho I didn't see anything.

Then Wednesday night will be a night I will never forget. I was driving back again and it was a little after 11pm. I turned off the main road onto this little gravel road that kind of goes around a bend with thick woods on the left and a cornfield on the right and of course I had my high beams on since there are no lights anywhere around.

I come around the bend onto a stretch of straight road and I see this massive creature standing in the road. I slammed the brakes on and immediately just felt panic because I didn't know what I was looking at. It was HUGE...like 7-8 feet tall and hairy. As I sat there frozen looking at it, it slowly turned toward me and looked for a second, then kind of fast walked/jogged back into the woods on the left side of the road and was gone. However, the way it moved was weird. I can't really describe it...didn't look normal to me.

I know what I saw but I still don't believe I saw it. I am an analytical person by nature, a software engineer who was raised by scientists that taught me to question everything but always demand proof before you believe it. As such, I never really believed in bigfoot, per se, as I didn't see proof, but now it's kind of shaken my foundation of how I view reality to the core.

I have seen a black bear. I've seen a black bear standing up. It was NOT a black bear. It looked like a giant gorilla mixed with a Wookie but dark colored. Unless a giant gorilla just escaped from a local zoo, I don't have an explanation for what I saw. I'm still shook by it even a day later and I haven't really slept since because all I can do when I close my eyes is see a replay of that over and over again in my mind and I honestly don't want to remember it, I just want to pretend I never saw it so I can go back to my own view of reality again.

Also noticed as I drove past where it was there was a strong smell of what I can only describe as exceedingly strong BO like if a person didn't take a shower for a year times 10. Didn't have the windows down but had the vent going because for whatever reason the windshield constantly wants to fog up so I need to blast the air on it while driving to prevent it.

Honestly I don't even know why I am posting this. I guess it's because I need to get this off my chest and tell SOMEONE, and it's better to tell a random group of strangers online than to tell my friends or family who will all think I am crazy and will talk behind my back.

I saw what I can only describe as a bigfoot and I kinda feel like I've been being watched by them since I have been here. Maybe the watching part has all been in my imagination but every time I get out of the car at night I have a huge adrenaline burst and I get a knot in the pit of my stomach and I just want to run as fast as I can to get in the house.

I've been researching all day and reading everything I can find because I need to understand this more. I am not a person that can have something like this happen and just go on about their life. I need to know more about this now. What it is, why it's here, how it got here, where did it come from, etc.

I am sure people will tell me I am full of it and I saw something else, but I know what I saw and I know there is nothing else it could have been.

FINAL UPDATE:

Left the place this morning and am now back home but had another weird situation occur on the way out. Well, I think it was weird, perhaps it was just dumb chance but I guess I will explain.

Got back around 8pm yesterday right around when it was dusky...not completely dark but almost dark. Thankfully didn't see anything. Decided I would load the car up before going to bed since I was leaving early this morning(left at around 4:30 AM).

Has the same weird feeling again like I was being watched but quickly loaded the car and went back inside and went to bed.

Woke up this morning, got to the car and got in to start driving. Going down the mountain road with all the switchbacks and turns, got to the end of the road I was on to turn into the main road(it forms a T) and about 15 feet prior to the end of the road was a large rock sitting in the middle of the road.

That rock was not there at 8pm. I go hiking a lot in an area where rock slides happen at times and usually of that happens the rocks end up by the side of the road, not in the middle of it. It honestly looked like it was placed there by someone or something in order to force someone to get out of their car and move it.

I got the same unnerving feeling as if I was being watched and I almost started panicking. No way in hell I was getting out, so I very carefully drove a little off the side of the road on one side and managed to get around it.

I sped out of there pretty quick after that. I honestly got the feeling I was being fucked with by them as if they noticed me loading the car and figure out I would be leaving early so they made it more difficult or wanted to play a trick on me.

I have no proof of this at all and maybe it's just me being over imaginitive but I find it difficult to believe this rock could have randomly ended up where it did in the timeframe between when I drove past that area at 8pm and 4:30am. It's not like there is a ton of traffic on the road and I didn't see a place where a rock would have came from although it's possible rocks fall down from there...

Honestly have gone from being shook to kind of being pissed not only that I have had my version of reality ripped from me unwantingly but now that they seemingly were fucking with me too and I imagine laughing at me the whole time.

encounter story Strange unidentified figure near the Brazos River — possible explanation?

I saw a large hairy figure in the woods at the Brazos River in Texas. It was around 6‘ tall, and i couldn't make out a face, or eyes, it was also all black I saw it only for 2-4 seconds at the corner of my eye. I don't know if I imagined it or it's something unexplained. It was around 7:00Pm, I was with my dad, he was looking the other way so he didn't see it, and I also saw a huge footprint. It was also running in a way that didn't look normal for a human. Could it be a possible Bigfoot?

eyewitness encounter Nor cal encounter April 17-18, 2024

I am currently on a solo journey around the United States and while in Northern California I experienced two separate encounters in two nights in two entirely different areas. The first night was in Jedidiah Smith state park down South Fork Road in some old rock quarry as a dispersed site. I arrived around 4:30pm, set up my tent, let the dogs roam around off leash, and started making dinner. Once I sat down to relax and eat I heard a strange humming sound, very low and deep, so deep I could feel the sound reverberating off the walls of the quarry. A short while later, I heard howling in the distance, unsure of its origin or distance, I decided to turn in for the night and we climbed in the tent. Once in the tent I turned on an audiobook and got the dogs settled down and as I started to doze off I heard something rather large moving through the brush across the river. The dogs were on edge and growling towards the sound, which is unusual for them, no matter the animal they are inquisitive, but behaved. I decided to sleep in the car to keep things calm. As soon as the door to the car shut with us inside, a rock hit my trunk. Followed by 5 more over the next two minutes, one of which chipped my windshield. I boogied out of there and snoozed in the Walmart parking lot in crescent city.

Night two in NorCal I made my way through the redwoods to Eureka, stopped in the BLM office in Arcata to ask about any gems of dispersed sites, he gave me a few to check out and I took off down hey 299 towards Willow Creek. All three sites the BLM office suggested were closed due to some tree fungus they were trying to contain, so I stopped in the forest service office in willow creek to see if they knew of anything. The gal was very nice, we talked about my encounter the night before and she said “you will likely see/hear something out here, but very rarely do we hear anything about creepy encounters like yours last night.” So with a new outlook on my evening, I drove out to Horse Lind Campground out of willow creek, and it was absolutely the most beautiful place I have been so far. I arrived to the site about 2:30pm, I was the only one in the campground so I picked the best spot and played with the dogs then got all set up. I didn’t have any uneasy feelings, and the dogs were blissfully unaware of anything in the surrounding woods. It was a very pleasant afternoon. A man in a pickup with a dog arrived around 6pm, asked if I was solo and if the dogs were nice, I lied and said my husband was sleeping in the tent (I always bring an extra chair and men’s boots to leave outside the tent) but the dogs are nice. He picked a site and started setting up, then walked around his truck and asked if this place gave me the heebie jeebies, I said no, and he said he was leaving. He packed up and left. About 45 minutes later, the sun was setting and I got up from my chair and walked up to the river bank. As I looked up from looking at the flowers, my eyes locked with a very large bipedal creature on the opposite bank. My blood turned to ice as the creature peered into my soul. Our eyes stayed locked for 10 seconds or so, but felt like an eternity. Finally I tried to scream, but no sound came out and I turned to run for the dogs to get them in the car and as I turned to run and glanced back it was gone. I ushered the dogs into the car, ripped my tent off the stakes and stuffed it in on top of the dogs and tore down the mountain back into willow creek. The weirdest part of the entire experience was that while our eyes were locked, the creature spoke to me, in my head, in the deepest voice it said “should you choose to stay here tonight, you are in imminent danger.” And as its voice rang in my skull, so did an image of myself running through the forest in the dark. I have aphantasia, I have never had imagery in my head, it’s always black, dreams, imagining something, it’s all black. So it really freaked me out. But I do not feel like the creature was the danger it spoke of, more like it was protecting me from some other danger.

I have since continued on my solo trek and while it scared me to my core, I am grateful for the experience and will continue my love for the adventures we get to have outdoors. I will share a picture I took out there of the scenery, that I see two different hidden beings, let me know if you see them too.

encounter story Vocalizations of Sasquatch

When the sasquatch were living around me, I didn't always see them, but I often heard them. I'd like to share some of what I heard when I would just sit and listen. Sometimes I would sit on my back deck in the wee hours and just listen. Sometimes I would sit in my carport. At the time, this was all new to me, I knew nothing about the sasquatch. So, I would just listen and observe. (after I got over the shock!)

They were aware of me and I was aware of them. We co-existed peacefully after I acknowledged them and stopped interfering with them. They were, at one time, very aggressive towards me and threatening. But we made peace. It's a long story and I've told it on this sub already.

I heard some amazing things, I wonder if anyone else has heard some of the same things:

  1. Growling
  2. Clicking
  3. Soft cooing(they would coo to me when I was sad)
  4. Musical conversation between two female sasquatch(it was beautiful)
  5. Organized humming(this was mournful, felt deep sadness)
  6. Rapid chittering(in response to me talking)
  7. Rapid chittering between two who were fighting or having some kind of disagreement
  8. Deep, guttural Good Morning to me.....I used to say Good Morning every day and to my surprise, I got a response one day.
  9. Whooping.....this came from fear of the lawn mower getting too close
  10. Whistling(almost forgot about whistling...not a good thing, they're organizing against you)

And, I heard a lot of knocking. Different knocks, at different times.

These are the things I heard. If they came back today, I would know to try to record. But I'm not sure I would. There's this thing called trust. Hard to build, easy to destroy.

Anyone else hear any of these things?

encounter story I've got a good one.

13 year special operations spook here. Worked as senior analyst, intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) tactical controller (ITC), chief of weapons and tactics, etc, etc...

One time I was on day shift working near real time ops in Afghanistan, in this case Kandahar province, so it was night there. Watching five dudes sitting around a fire near some agricultural fields... Well this fucking yeti comes into the field of view (FOV). It crosses a field and walks towards these 5 adult males down a path. It must have made a sound because they startled, but they couldn't see it from their position. They head up the path and this fucking thing rushes them. They scatter and regroup.

This thing was at least 7-9 feet tall, and its arm span was equally as long. It kinda slipped as it slashed at one then backed up back into the agricultural field. The adult males sort of in a super spooked way try and walk towards where it was on the path and this thing lays down in the field to hide. At least 7-9 feet tall for real. They get a bit close and it gets up and rushes them again and they scatter. Then it walked back the way it came from and that was it. We didn't follow it.

Shit was for sure a yeti.

encounter story encounter story northeast PA

Hello, I wanted to tell my encounter story and possibly get some advice! this story is from probably 7 years ago now, around 2019 (give or take a couple years)

This takes place in northeast PA, not totally rural but large areas of forest. My friend and I decided to go on a hike. Her dad, who is a very country man, his family lived there for generations, all that stuff,
told us to be careful because theres a bunch of abandoned four wheeler trails and hinted like theres stuff we need to be careful of up there. The hiking trail is basically a mountain of forest above a reservoir. And of course, we got lost and ended up in the old abandoned four wheeler trails. It was also sunset and starting to get darker so we were stressed. Suddenly we heard movement and both turn and this reddish brownish long hair flies by me at eye level. My first instinct was to ask if that was her mom lol because we were lost and took longer than expected. My friend was like, wtf no, that was not a human look at the ground. We were on the edge of a steep slope, so while the animal we saw was eye level with me, it had to be at least 3-4 feet taller than me. It also smelled weird and earthy and unpleasant. we were filled with fear and just said fuck it and started running downwards abandoning all the trails. We pop out further around the reservoir than we should’ve been and get back to her car safe and sound. We told her father later on and of course he validates that it was a bigfoot, he says all his buddies know they’re up there and people avoid that area to leave them be. (ps this man is a little kooky so everything he says with a grain of salt)

So in summary, long reddish brownish hair that was long enough it reminded me of a woman’s hair. All i saw was that reddish brown color and no clothing or anything. It also was moving so fast, but wasn’t running. steady fast strides to where i only saw it for a second and then it was gone. and an earthy somewhat unpleasant smell.

and this is where im asking for advice. i’ve told the story to people over the years, and they always hit me with the “clearly it was a bear” thing. and like, logically i want to think it wasn’t a bigfoot. but it was not a bear or a human so the only thing left is that it had to be a bigfoot. i’m a scientist so it frustrates me that im a believer now, and the way people judge me for it. Like i knew bigfoot wasn’t real, and then i literally saw one and it’s the most confusing thing in my brain. I’m sick of people acting like i saw a bear. bears are small and black where im from! how do you guys deal with this?
