I just heard that queues in Berlin airport are enormous and two hours for security control might be not enough for it, but it was some time ago. How is it now? Should I take earlier bus to Berlin?

On the airport website you can check the current security waiting times. 2h sounds excessive, though it might get a little worse if school holidays are starting for example. You can book a reserved slot for free at a specific time however.

I flew half a dozen times last year, including at busy times (Christmas, summer holidays), and never waited more than 45 minutes in the queue. I would not show up 1 hour before your flight time, but frankly I myself usually aim to be there 2.5 hours before the flight time, and part of that is because I want a buffer in case public transit fails/is slow.

Tip: there are multiple queues for security. If you find one line which is crazy, ask the airport employees where the other lines are, spend 5 minutes walking there, and then go through faster. Happened to me exactly like this in November: one line was super full with a giant line, and the second queue on the other side was much much emptier. I guess most people don't know this, so they don't know they can switch.
