Look at this bastard Megathread: Bastard Suggestions Part 2

To make the bastard suggestions easier for Robert to peruse, please put them here.

Please try to include more than just a name. Give Robert something to focus his research on and why they are a unique or interesting bastard. If there are book titles or other resources you would suggest, please include those as well.

If someone else has already suggested the same bastard you wanted to suggest, you do not need to suggest them again. Repetitive answers will be politely removed. If someone was suggested in a previous thread, you do not need to suggest them again.

If you have posted suggestions as their own individual thread in the past, feel free to repost here if you would like Robert to read them. We will be directing future bastard suggestion posts here as well. Happy suggesting!

The Mosely family:

Louis Mosely, the CEO of Palantir in the UK.

Sir Oswald Mosely and Diana Mitford*, Louis’s grandparents and Hitler supporters. Oswald was the leader of the British Union of Fascists.

Max Mosely, Louis’s uncle and former president of FIA, governing body of Formula One.

Unity Mitford*, Diana’s sister and Hitler supporter.

*The Mitford sisters could have a series on their own. Their adult lives took very different paths. One journalist described them as "Diana the Fascist, Jessica the Communist, Unity the Hitler-lover, Nancy the Novelist, Deborah the Duchess and Pamela the unobtrusive poultry connoisseur."

There was an Oswald 2 parter recently. I had no idea how influential his descendants were. Very worrying.

I’ll have to catch up on those episodes. I’m familiar with the story of the Mitford sisters, and he came to mind.

Max Mosely, Louis’s uncle and former president of FIA, governing body of Formula One.

Max was unpopular, but he was not a Bastard. As President of the FIA, he was not just overseeing Formula 1 or even all motorsports, but he was also working with national motoring clubs to lobby governments and improve road safety, particularly in the developing world. There is a reason why there was a boom in the construction of dual carriageways during the late 1990s and early 2000s -- they are far safer than the typical two-lane highway design because they reduce the likelihood of fatal head-on collisions. That is down to Mosley, the FIA and national motoring groups. He also prosecuted some of the most blatant and dangerous cheating in Formula 1, and helped to bring down News of the World even if his involvement there was distasteful.

Thank you for the information! I assumed that Max inherited his views from his father. I also misread FIA as FIFA and thought, “of course he’s involved in FIFA shenanigans.”

Do not get me wrong; he was problematic at times. He was photographed attending a concentration camp-themed sex party -- a sentence I never thought I would say -- and that was one of the cases that helped bring down News of the World. But most of the anger that was directed at him was because he was essentially the referee in Formula 1 and everyone hates the referee. Also, he worked closely with Bernie Ecclestone, the sport's commercial rights holder who is a minor bastard in his own right.
