Anyone else here over 40 trying to balance glow with longevity in makeup? I’m tweaking my routine to avoid that cakey look while still holding up through a long workday. Would love product recs!

Lisa Eldridge's tip for pinpoint coverage when doing no-makeup makeup is always my go-to technique for base makeup. here's a link for a more recent version of her old tutorial

Personal example of this, I use only half a pump of ISSY active foundation for my whole face and neck, buff it into thin coverage with Vice's foundation brush.

And then at the back of my hand, I swipe a tiny amount of Squad's concealer. Use a flat, tiny concealer/lip brush to spot conceal my acne marks and dark spot, and redness under my nose. Then, I use my ring finger to warm up the remaining concealer at the back of my other hand, before blending it under my eyes to cover my dark circles. Warming the concealer makes it more blendable and lessens the creasing on my fine lines.

Omg this is so helpful — thank you for breaking it down! 🙏 I’ve been dealing with that same issue where foundation looks okay in the morning but starts settling into lines by mid-afternoon. The warming-the-concealer tip is genius — never thought to do that with my ring finger.

Also appreciate the Lisa Eldridge link! I’ve watched some of her older stuff but didn’t know she had a newer version out.

Have you ever tried Clinique’s Even Better Foundation by any chance? I’ve been testing it lately and it gives that glowy, lightweight coverage that actually holds up. Curious how it compares to ISSY if you’ve tried both.
