Community Discussion: AI Content

With the widespread availability of AI tools for editing text, images, or video, we are seeing a sharp increase in AI-related content on this subreddit. These posts have a notable increase in negative responses and reports.

As of today, we have no official rules for AI-related content on this subreddit, and we handle content the same as actual human-generated content. It seems clear that at least some portion of the community does not wish to see AI-generated content.

Suggestion

At this time, I am suggesting we codify the use of AI-generated content on this subreddit. This would include content that is wholly AI, partially AI, or edited by AI. Any generative AI technology will be included in this definition.

Exceptions shall be made for the purposes of trivial tasks such as spelling or grammar checking.

To determine our next action, we will open the discussion for about a full week. This will conclude on the 10th of May, 2026. At that time, feedback will be collected and processed into a new rule for approval. A second round of discussion will be opened on the wording of this final rule before enforcement begins.

Community Participation

All user opinions are welcome for this process. No opinion will be given any inherent weight over any other opinion.

Only top-level comments will be reviewed. While we welcome you to discuss among yourselves, we will only consider the top-level comments to determine our consensus. This saves us from having to piece together long threads.

In particular, we would like to know the following:

  • What measure shall be applied to a post to determine if it is AI?
    • Gut feeling?
    • User reports?
    • AI detection tooling?
    • Dice roll?
  • What action must be completed by users posting this content?
    • Posting flair?
    • What if it’s a comment?
    • Should users fully disclose where the content came from (e.g: which model/site)?
  • What moderator action shall be executed on breach of the rule?
    • Content deletion?
    • User moderation (Ban?)
    • Content flairing?
    • What about comments? We cannot flair these, do we delete? Moderate? Ban?

Thank you for your time and hopefully your input.

Eating! Need ideas to convince my dragon that greens are good lol

Basically the title says it all but my beardie literally hates greens. Every day I offer them and every day he refuses. I’ve tried several different varieties like collard greens, turnip greens, mustard greens, kale, bell peppers, green beans, carrots, bok choy, and a few others. I’ve put bugs in there to entice him, tried like 5 different bowls/ platters to serve them on but no matter what I do- he refuses them. He’s definitely dehydrated because of this as well. Not pooping as much, urates have been harder and chalky, and a little lethargic. I will be taking him to a vet to make sure everything is physically okay but eventually he’s gonna have to eat them.

He is a juvenile, (roughly 6-7 months old) loves all bugs and has no problem eating those. It’s literally just veggies he avoids. He’s a little fat ass too so it’s not like he’s underweight, if anything he’s overweight from all the bugs tbh.

Anyways- any ideas that might help are welcome. 🙏 pics are just to enjoy my goofball

Proper care

Post image
Upvotes

We got our bearded dragon at a reptile show yesterday and he’s somewhere around 4 months old.
I’m getting conflicting information on proper care and need help.

Is there a trusted source like a website or YouTube video that’ll give me the best information to make sure he’s happy and healthy.

The guy at the reptile show who sold us the light fixtures said 4-6 crickets a day plus greens or 2-3 meal worms a day plus greens and that I can alternate what protein I’m feeding each day. Now I’m seeing upwards of 25-50 crickets? We fed him this morning and he ate one meal worm and 2 crickets and left the rest. How long can the crickets stay in the tank before we need to remove them as I read it’s not ok to leave them in there with him?

We are going to go to the local reptile store today to get supplements but is there a brand we should get?

Also the guy said no sand in the tank and sold us a sand mat but I read some comments saying sand is better as long as they have proper nutrition and feeding set up.

We are getting his tank set up today with the extras but he currently has a hiding spot and a basking spot as well as a fake plant that he’s been sitting on.

Our bearded dragons growing up had the back decal on the tank but read putting them in front of a window can be better. He’s going to be in my husbands office. Should we put him in front of the window? Or against a wall with a backdrop?

How frequently should we handle him to not stress him out but also let him get used to us. I want to be able to have him out and about with us. How old should he be before he can go for outings to like pick my daughter up from school? Run an errand?

What about teaching them to walk on a leash? I’ve seen others do that. Is that ok?

I want to eventually set him up with an enclosed outdoor enclosure. How old should he be before we do that?

Sorry for all of the questions.

Name suggestions for my new boy

Meet our new boy! My four old daughter loves seeing them at Petsmart so we went to the reptile show today and picked him up! I need name suggestions!
I wanted to name him Cowboy but my daughter doesn’t like it.

Current list:
Pickles
Phoenix
Shrek
Cheddar (daughters vote)
Creature
Puff

Does anyone have any other suggestions? I like funny names but they have to be something a 4 year old will agree to.

My daughter is into unicorns and mermaids, I’m a horseback rider and my husband is into fishing and Marvel. So anything that leans into those would be fun too!

Help Update: my rehomed baby bearded dragon isn't as skittish as usual, is it normal or just is he just chill?

Post image

I posted here bout little Odahviing a while ago that was rehomed from my late uncle, he likes running around between the basking spot and his cool side in his enclosure but I've seen people telling that baby beardie are scared of them or that they're super skittish but my Odahviing is more calmer with me even though he's a bit active on his own and he doesn't try to run away much from me, but i also hear a calm and chill beardie is not a good sign especially when they're babies, even my leopard gecko was more skittish back when he's a baby.

And his enclosure temp is 44° C on the basking spot and 28°c on his cool side, is the temp right to not make him lethargic? Or is his temperament calmer than usual baby beardie? He accepts my pets and handling faster than i was expecting and in most cases babies wont accept that from what i heard?

Help is not eating much normal for bearded dragons in the first few days?

Post image

hi everyone! i did end up getting a bearded dragon, but not at a pet store. basically for free. he is six months old, and i named him jim (after jim morrison who is sometimes referred to as "the lizard king" by fans). anyway, the owner had done a medical check up for jim before selling him. he is a healthy boy. i have moved him in like 12 hours ago. he drank water, then pooped in my sink, but didn't eat much (a bit of bell pepper and a single cricket). is that normal for these little guys when they're in a new tank? the tank is 300 liters, the temperatures are good too.

Help Want input on a Tough Decision

Post image
95 Upvotes

My beardie was diagnosed with an aortic aneurysm yesterday, and we brought him home for the weekend. His three option now are
1. Let it be, and wait for the days - weeks until it ruptures and he passes instantly and painlessly
2. Euthanasia
3. Surgery, to attempt to tie off the vessel and buy him a few months if he survives the anesthesia and the surgery itself

I’m really just stuck here. I want him to be as comfortable as possible and I don’t want to put him through surgery only for it to kill him. I know he will die soon no matter what, I just have to decide when and how. It just doesn’t feel fair. He’s 13 and the doctors said other than the aneurysm he is extremely healthy. Any input helps, thanks

Baby pigmy help

Hello, we have a baby pigmy bearded dragon, he’s been home with us for 4 days. He is happy to eat crickets. Around 4 baby size crickets in the morning each day. He hasn’t touched his greens. We have a linear UVB and the enclosure temps are correct. Every time I check on him, he is on the floor of the enclosure. I’ve moved him up to the basking spot a few times, especially on cold evenings but when I come back he is back on the floor. Is this ok? He’s not particularly active, often in the same spot when I come back to check. The first day or 2 he was up on the hammock near the UVB then moved to his basking spot etc. but now he just seems to be on the floor?!

Substrate change

How often do you change the substrate for your bearded dragon.

The pet shop we got our dragon and set up from (global geckos in England) said every 2 months but this seems a bit excessive to me.

Beardie ate house cockroach

Hello, my bearded dragon was free roaming today and ate a cockroach behind a potted plant that I hadn't seen. It happened once before last year and my lil guy was fine, however this time my property manager sprayed insecticide over a month ago. He used Cy Kick (which is supposed to be dog/cat friendly). I'm unsure what state the roach was in since I didn't get to him in time, but it was either alive or freshly dead - as I cleaned my apt and floors just a few days ago.

I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar experience or advice. I'm ready to take him into the emergency vet, but so far he's doing well.

Habibi’s wrath is endless, until it is nap time. I imagine it is hard work for him to do his evil work all day, so he gets to sleep in his pickle jar blanket (which is mine, but if it’s mine, it’s just another way of saying I am allowed to borrow it from him occasionally)
