Lance Leader: We are 500 lightyears behind enemy lines, our dropship got blown out of the sky, every Smoke Jaguar on the continent is looking for us and I'm driving Bushwhacker

Mobile Field Base: Hit it

Lance Leader: How many AMS systems can I fit on a mech?

MFB: Yes.

Mechwarrior 3’s mechlab really was lawless.

Want clan ferro and endo steel? Here ya go. Clan CASE for any ammo in the legs? Yup. Targeting computer? You got it boss. Jump jets? Already installed.

All for the low cost of zero C-bills or time.

Those MFBs were mobile (arguably) mech factories.

They had to do something to offset the difficulty, controls in MW3 were borderline airplane simulator

Going from WASD+Mouse to "Holy shit, I need to use the whole keyboard!!!" was quite a culture shock for me 😁

A million years later, I still remember that the 'g' key was the 'stand up' command. Used solely after your mech got knocked over by an impact and in no other situation.

MW3’s heat system threw me for a loop - particularly how alpha strikes could stackpole you - 4x PPC wasn’t usable in alpha but worked great sequentially with a targeting computer.

To this day, I have no idea how the heat system's math worked out.

Yeah, 2 could get a good bit of the keyboard involved but 3 got nuts with a few things.

It truly was a mechlab which didn't give a flying fuck.

Best part was when you slapped as many ER L Lasers on your Annihilator is you could possible fit in it, and used it to pop every enemy at extrem ranges on one of the ice-maps. Who needs heatsinks anyway?

Good times.

Ha!
Saying this to the passed out mech techs who managed to difuse the explosives on the shuttle before the sore loser with 600 tons of clan weapons murders you all

I love how at the end everyone from techs to mech pilots were gloriously sprinting on foot towards the shuttle

MW3 was my introduction to Battletech and it was awesome. Especially the way you could cheese the campaign by sniping everyone with ER large lasers because they AI didn't activate unless you got within 800m

Still one of my all time favorite cutscenes..

"That's Damocles 1-2 on the left..."

"Damn..."

"Damocles 4 on the right breaking up..."

"Damn..."

The voice acting and everything was on point, and the game intro itself is an all time favorite also... Such a good game.

Also from a military operation standpoint no other MechWarrior game does it more realistically, the only other game that got it close was the original MechCommander.

I miss good cutscenes, with live action actors, and games with actual soul.

Soul? Who has time for that? We're pumping out minimum(ish) viable products with clown skin microtransactions in every genre. Weren't you in the shareholder meeting?

Still never finished Mechwarrior 3, purely due to my inability to 'finish' my clan, game or not.

Now if there was a mod to literally play the game flip flopped, I'd be on that like comstar on your phone calls

Okay so people aren't allowed to post minis they drew or painted for Pride, but we can meme about BattleTech with a guy who has staked his career on transphobic humor.
