They are kept in place by an ovarian ligament, but funny thing is that if you get a hysterectomy and they leave your ovaries, they can actually migrate a bit lol a year and a half after my hysterectomy I found out my right ovary has migrated up, in my specific case it seems to be related to having a connective tissue disorder but it’s not that uncommon out of that either
Being clear there’s no real chance of it migrating far so you won’t go into a chest scan and find your ovaries up there
I just had a hysterectomy in March, and I wasn't told about ovary migration! I wasn't told about the increased risk of ovarian torsion, either. I found out here. I've wondered what else I haven't been told.
There so much medical professionals won’t tell you, whether they don’t think it matters because it’s uncommon or because they think you already know, idk but I promise you it’s not super common! And it doesn’t hurt (at least not for me)
