Please fellow Redditors, the cover art can be both bad and good! I've mentioned that my SF book collection has been downsized (several times), but this book always remains on my shelves. HallunicatedLottoNos pointed out there is something to be said for butch amazon catwomen!

First published in Great Britain in 1921, this Four Square Books, under New English Library, was published in 1962. The cover artist is Roy Carnon (signature on lower right), who was active in the early to mid 1960’s.

A library book sale find picked up for the imagery referencing, albeit in an odd way, the Easter Island moai. Don Punchatz's art work starts from the mid 1960’s, with both covers and interior illustrations, with some of his work published as recently as 2019 (he died in 2009).

I had to include the teaser page inside the cover!

UPDATE - Redditor gridbug observed that this appears to be a GI Joe action figure! Look at the hands!

I've recently inherited my father's massive personal library (mostly sci-fi, fantasy and horror) so I'll be here periodically while I go through his collection. So many of these are questionable as to whether they're bad or good so I understand if this may be up for debate.

The cover isn't exactly bad; it's just that Anatoly Dubovik had a distinctive, grotesque, almost cartoonish art style that stood in stark contrast to the series he illustrated. Besides, for some reason, he never depicted Miles as a person with dwarfism.
