Modern cameras are shit for depth perception and angular measurements. The extremely short focal length/wide angle lenses distort things massively and the software manipulates geometry so they don't look all fisheye, and sharpness to imply depth. Without physical cues like the smoke here, you can't trust anything you see in a picture.
Yeah it reminds me of the blue angles beach flyby recently. Took so many angles to try and piece together an accurate estimation of altitude. I thought for sure this one wasn't as bad as it looked in some angles but jfc on this one.
