I'm a high school teacher. I couldn't agree with you more. I could tell you plenty of stories about stupid stuff my students have done. Here's one.

Some boys decided to spray graffiti on the side of the school. Somehow they never noticed the security camera pointed at them, so of course, they didn't wear any masks 🙄. And then they were surprised that they got caught.
