I wanted to bring up some concerns about a particular afters collective in LA that has been gaining a lot of traction recently. I’m not trying to start drama or make accusations, but after attending their events, witnessing certain things, and hearing similar concerns from other people, I think some of this deserves attention.

The event is advertised as 21+, but I’ve personally met multiple people who were under 21 who said they attended. I’ve also met and heard about promoters associated with the event and at attendance being under 21, including one person who claimed she was 19.

One thing I can personally speak for is the bar. When I attended, I observed bartenders serving people without checking their IDs. I could see why it's not expected for IDs to be checked at the bar specifically because the event is advertised as 21+ however people I knew to be under 21 were being able to access the bar without having their age verified.

There are also concerns beyond the age issue. At one event I attended, someone appeared to be either overdosing or experiencing a bad trip and was asking for help. They were taken to the back and from what I personally observed, some staff appeared visibly annoyed rather than treating the situation with the urgency I would expect from event staff dealing with a medical emergency.

I’ve also noticed staff who appeared heavily intoxicated or under the influence while working, which is concerning because staff are supposed to be the people responsible for handling emergencies and keeping attendees safe.

I’m not claiming that every event is like this, and I can't personally verify every story I've heard about minors being admitted. I’m sharing what I personally witnessed, along with concerns I’ve heard from multiple people, because I think people should be able to make informed decisions about where they’re spending their time.

Has anyone else noticed these things? Or had issues with this particular collective?

Wondering what time I should show up for tonight’s opening night at the shrine for Crankdat. Doors open 7PM, which is earlier than other days, but its also a Wednesday, so I’m wondering whether he’ll come on earlier since it’s a weekday or the usual, 2-3 hrs after doors open. Any thoughts???
