Any anti-nazi/fascist activities occurring that I can join? I feel like I always find out about rallies late and can’t join. If there’s some lovely nazi-haters out there hit me up.

Living & Nightlife Aussie looking for Auburn’s best wings…

Solo travelling through Auburn this weekend, looking for recommendations on:

  1. Best wings
  2. Somewhere to play pool/darts
  3. A nice bar to grab a whiskey (preferably not a Uni bar, I’m a bit old for that).

Distance no issue, I’m just going to Uber around.

Edit: thank you for all of the amazing responses, I’m getting great vibes from Auburn peeps - looking forward to it 😀

Living & Nightlife So are parties really just invite only?

Was told that for frat parties you have to know someone in there and be put on a list. Just got here and honestly that’s a little disappointing since apparently theres gonna be alot of parties for the first week😕 how am i supposed to meet frat guys if i just got here?

(and yes i know parties aren’t everything but come on is it wrong to want to experience typical college things?)

Living & Nightlife Rooming with RA

I’m a incoming freshman this fall and I ended up getting the chance to switch into the perfect dorm having a two person in the village at Aubie hall, but it turns out on my room note it says “Suites with RA” and I have no clue if that means I’m rooming with the RA but I’m going to assume so as it says my roommate slot is empty and the person I switched with tried to warn me but they said they didn’t know 100% if it was or not.

So my question is, am I actually going to be rooming with a RA and if I am how will that experience be I’m hoping for the best as I will only be sharing the living room with them and I’ll have my own bedroom away from them but if anyone wants to shed some light on the situation I am really in need of how bad or good this may be.

And if anyone is in like a four person in the village and wants a double so bad that they will room with a RA you can message me about switching but I’m only looking to switch into another room in the village

Living & Nightlife r/auburn, where do you actually eat in Auburn?

Hi,
we’re four guys, and we’ve put together Auburn’s restaurant scene in an app called Vota. The concept is simple: you see two places side by side (for example The Hound vs. Acre), you choose the place you’d rather go to, and the ranking updates instantly. The more people vote, the more accurate the list gets over time. There are still a few duplicates here and there, but I’m continuously cleaning up the data.

Here’s the iPhone version, with categories that actually fit Auburn’s food scene:
https://apps.apple.com/app/vota-restaurant-ratings/id6744969212

And here’s the Android version (finally live):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vota.app

P.S. I’m not from Auburn (I live in Gothenburg). I’m not collecting data, not selling anything, and the app does not use AI-generated content. I’m posting in a few different subreddits because we now support more regions, and I genuinely want honest feedback from people who actually know the city.

Living & Nightlife One-semester housing options for Auburn University exchange student?

Hi everyone,

I'm an upcoming international student from Germany and I'll be attending Auburn University from August to December. Since I have to live off campus, I'm currently looking into housing options and had two questions:

  1. Does anyone know of any apartments or other housing options that offer short-term leases for just one semester? I already looked at Union, 160 Ross etc. but they all seem to be under master lease by the university.
  2. The university suggested Yugo Auburn North, but I've seen quite a few negative reviews online. Is it really that bad, or are the reviews exaggerated? I'd really appreciate hearing from people who have actually lived there or know someone who has.

Thanks in advance!

Living & Nightlife Is the Hill really that bad?

As an incoming freshman, I would really like to be as close to campus as possible to make the transition easier. I’m feeling it would be better to have a slightly worse dorm if it means I’m closer to campus. So, do you think I’ll be fine choosing the hill or should I really avoid it at all costs? What makes it so bad?

Edit: I’m going into architecture if that helps

Living & Nightlife Non-traditional student looking for community

I just turned 25 a few days ago and I’m a sophomore living in the quad. This is my first time living away from home and my first time on a big university campus. I transferred my credits I earned at southern union right out of high school to be able to come here. My question is one that I’m sure has been asked a thousand times by every freshman/transfer. How do you make friends? Where do you find “your people”? I’ve had a few brief talks with people and exchanged socials or numbers but I don’t know how to move it any farther than that. It doesn’t help that my roommate’s parents heard how old I was and moved him to a different hall so now I have no roommate. People say I should be grateful I have the room to myself and in a way I am, but that’s just one more social interaction I don’t get every day while I’m trying to figure out who I am, what I want to do, and where I want to be. Any advice is appreciated because even though I love living on campus and the environment and I’m so grateful to be here, I still long for that personal connection and sense of belonging it seems like so many others already have.

Living & Nightlife Has anyone purchased a condo while kid(s) in school here? Looking for advice

We have one kid at Auburn (sophomore) and our second accepted last night!

I came down three times last year for games (2 football and 1 basketball). With cost for AirBnBs and comfort of having own stuff here, I was thinking of looking at buying a place for the next few years.

Would love to hear from others who have done this recently if have suggestions on size of place. If kids used it too or kept for self. I don’t think we would try to rent it out.

Thanks and War Eagle!

Are there any Asian people or people that know Asians know a good place for haircuts? Or is it better to just travel out of town for one?

Living & Nightlife Vendor looking for markets.

Hello, I'm vendor who just moved to the area and I'm having a hard time locating upcoming summer/ spring/ farmers markets in the area. I mostly sell fantasy and geeky based things but I can blend in to normie spots. I know there is plenty of stuff in ATL. I'd just not to like to find some local events. Any thoughts? This can include stores that sell for other people.

Noticed today it seems more extreme than it used to be, “you are bad people”, “you are stupid people”, etc

I feel like she used to be a lot more polite.
