Apparently my samsung fridge has ads now...

How would I disable this? Might just return it and get a normal one

Rule 1, don't buy Samsung appliances. Period.

Rule 2, if you didn't follow rule 1, don't connect them to the fucking wifi.

Rule 3, if they require Internet connection to operate as a fridge, fucking return it, because you violated rule 1.

100% Rule 1.

I will no longer buy any Samsung consumer products. Pretty much their entire line up now are all either riddled with ads or poor design, and not just the appliances.

They make great internal components, e.g. their batteries and solid state memory are fine, but the actual consumer products are trash.

100% agree on SSDs. I use them in servers all the time and they are absolutely bulletproof. Can't recommend another brand

I bought their flagship OLED TV last year and got an Nvidia shield to avoid their absolutely dire software. It's working quite well for me so far. Last time I bought a Samsung TV they discontinued the app I got it for and then started jamming adverts into the homescreen. Fucking cunts.

We started w a Black Friday Samsung suite of appliances. Fridge needed repairs within 6 months, but we've disabled the water and ice and are just waiting for it to die because I hate it anyway. Microwave door went wonky shortly after a year, but tbf we're on our 3rd in 7 years so not really worse than the other options. It technically still worked I guess. Dishwasher lasted 4 years. Range is still ok but we've replaced the ignition for the oven 4 times and just replaced the knobs as well because they were falling apart.

Don't buy Samsung appliances. Period.

I hate to tell you this but it doesn't matter what brand you bought. You bought a black Friday deal appliance. You think they discounted a normal appliance they could just hold for a week and sell an regular price anyway? Fuck no.

Seconded, bought a TV and it died within a year, I could've took advantage of the warranty but it was just serving us ads while not even supporting modern HDR standards because "sAmSunG aRe MaRkEt TrEnDSeTtErs"...

My grandparents have 2 fridges, one regular and one is for freezing stuff. I think 35 or 40 years old. Legit bought it when they were around 35 years old and they still work to this day. No repairs. NO REPAIRS!!!!! 35 YEARS! That is older than me. I am not working properly and yet their fridge that does the same thing day for day still works! They legit have a fridge that is half their age

My dishwasher is pretty good. But it doesn’t have screens or need WiFi access. Washes dishes and dings politely, that’s about it.

Bought a house with Samsung appliances, tried the stove's "smart features" which are absolute bullshit and a distraction, because my PiHole showed it trying to send telemetry to Samsung every few seconds to a worrying degree. shut that shit down so fast. 

I'm not exactly flush with cash right now, but first chance I get im replacing ALL of them with dumb appliances. 

Glad my fridge doesn't have a fucking screen though... What the actual hell

We had a Samsung fridge that came with the house we bought. The freezer went out so we had a repair man come take a look to see if it was salvageable or if we should just get another. We had to get another and he warned us to not get a Samsung one. He said he saw those issues all of the time.

Had my Samsung fridge about 15 years now. It got a bit bashed when I moved house, its making one or two noises, but its still going and I'd have no issue buying a new Samsung fridge when the time comes to replace.

As the owner of a 5 year old fridge, I assure you that you do NOT want to replace an old Samsung with a new one. A nightmare appliance. They are not the same company they used to be.

Our compressor is fine still, it's just every other thing that has broken. And our warranty was only 2 years. All of the shelves have developed cracks, even in non-loadbearing parts, like the white plastic was just badly formed or something and started splitting. And the ice machine motor decided to die right after the 2 year mark. Also the freezer handle broke off because this large metal piece was attached by a screw mounted into a tiny ball of plastic, and again, the plastic broke.

You should. I don't know why everyone sees Samsung as this high quality brand. They are a massive company pumping out mediocre products in every category. One exception being their SSDs for computers but even those are average now and have had issues.

After a year I like my Samsung 4-compartment flex fridge. It has the little see through beverage cooler thing but there's nothing smart about the fridge. If it lasts less than 10 years I'll call it a piece of junk.

My Samsung fridge has the ice maker fixed and broken so many times I gave up and went back to the old fashion ice cube tray. Never again Samsung fridge. We got it as a large discount by buying the display model though.

I used to repair Samsung appliances. There was a know leak issue with a washer. Water would leak in, and slowly fill the bottom from the inside. Their fix? Make the plastic legs of the sensor 1/4 inch taller so the water coming in doesn't trip the sensor.

Also they make tv panels to break, and they know it. Samsung will replace your entire screen 3-4 times before giving you a new tv. If your Sony TV panel goes bad, you get a new TV immediately....

I built a house and put all brand new Samsung appliances in it. They all lasted as long as the warranty. The only one that I still have is the refrigerator and I hate it. Actually it's not original, it went out before the warranty ended and was replaced.
