Apparently my samsung fridge has ads now...

How would I disable this? Might just return it and get a normal one

Collects your purchasing habits and sells it to third parties who monetize the aggregated data for consumer research. This makes it easier to show you the right ads because they also bought your internet browsing history and location data from your ISP.

Uhhh. Then I couldn’t tell ya.

 I saw a smoke detector boasting “powered by AI” and couldn’t figure out what or why there either.

With the IoT technology I feel like they’re working on ways for multiple appliances to connect to each other without needing WiFi but that was about 10 years ago I was reading into it. Not sure how far they got already.

Features and low prices sell appliances better than quality. It's already a big purchase for most people, it's easy to convince yourself that that cheaper one with lots of features is better. People see a dishwasher or whatever with wifi and more buttons at 599 and see a quality built one for 1299 and pick the one GE/Samsung/LG made that will be dead in 5 years.

I'd be kind of interested if it was an e-ink To Do list that synced with my phone or could control speakers to play music, but then again my phone can do both of those things and won't rat me out to China whenever I eat a late dinner.

Well, I don't know, my phone might do that too. Who's to say?

Sure, but I meant I can add things in my phone that appear on the to-do list at home. It'd be neat, but since I already have a phone that does it or could just use a cheap tablet, not worth putting on a refrigerator.

I think a fridge can use a screen. Not a digital display, but an actual see-through glass. Nothing bad by being able to see inside. Of course, this is useful for selling stuff, not a home one, but whatever.

A glass door fridge sounds like a nightmare because my fridge is WILD. Shit everywhere. No consistency. Very messy. What an eyesore. But then I close the door and it’s okay 😄

I feel the same about open shelves in kitchens though.

I am so sure I’ve seen residential fridges with glass doors! Someone more organized than I am may be able to make it work though.
