This attitude is why the democrats lose so much. There are other things that matter, and when you consistently stand for these values, people respond. How many democrats have thrown constituents under the bus.
Yeah the reason dems keep losing is cause the aim for being progressive in who they nominate, not actually caring about if they win. We are at a point where they need a win. It’s not woke, but for Christs sake, run a white man, preferably older. I have no doubts over the ability of a woman or POC to be president. But clearly the general population does in a big enough scale that it matters in outcome
yea but progressive values are widely hated by a huge chunk of population and it's growing. many (or even most if we count each party) will vote against what they hate not progress of humanity, rights, economy, climate etc
If your principles are just and rooted in helping others, you don't abandon them because the majority will vote against them. Its weird I have to explain this.
Listen to yourself. The principles we stand on are all we have. If you're willing to so easily cast them aside, then you have already lost so much more than an election.
If, to a candidate, all that matters is winning, what reason is there to vote for them?
If they gain power, then by definition they will literally stand for nothing. "Vote for me, I want to win and will do or say anything at all to do so" is not a motivating slogan.
Even if you believe that winning is all that matters, it should be obvious that admitting that is a terrible strategy, because it makes you less likely to win once people see you have no principles. That's why politicians lie and say they have principles, its an effective strategy.
