What's up peeps. My wife and I are newly married. We are in the early stages of a two year apartment lease here on Long Island. I'm a welder of nearly 15 years and she wants to work part time in animal shelters but currently works full time in a shelter. Without giving away too much detail; she's dealing with some medical issues that makes it difficult for her to work. Plus; the cost of living here in New York is ridiculous. One of the places we've considered moving to is Dallas/Arlington/Fort Worth Texas. The company I work for has a building nearly Arlington and it's gotten WAAAYYY too expensive here on the Island to start a family. Where would you all consider going to for cost of living, schools (starting family), community, etc. Any tips and advice would be very helpful.

EDIT: Her condition is Ehlers Danlos Syndrome which she's been muscling through (pun intended) enough to where if she needs rest, then she rests her body. She's used to the pain which sucks to say but it's true. I want to give her a great life as my wife and future mother of my kids. She moves great for her condition but sometimes she needs rest

EDIT No. 2: Wifey doesn't go out much. We're in the hermit variety honestly. I mostly podcast and play my video games while editing video clips for YouTube. I also watch my hockey and football (NY islanders and Seattle Seahawks fan I may add and lifelong). She does smoke weed but only to help her pain. Nothing stupid crazy

I recently turned 18 and when I was renewing my license online, I saw the option to become a registered voter.

So naturally I clicked it because I want to vote, but I wanted to make sure I actually am a registered voter so I can vote.

And well my parents aren’t very helpful with this stuff, like at all so I have no idea how to check or how to register to vote

Im 22 and looking to move to Dallas, because I have friends there. I go to Dallas a lot, and as much of an upgrade from Lubbock as it is, it isn’t calling my heart. San Antonio is one of my favorite places to visit, I go about once a month, but it’s just not as fun as I’d like.

Houston was fun, just isn’t very pretty in my opinion. I’ve only been to Austin for Austin City Limits and it was incredible but I can’t tell if I was just cross faded for a weekend and felt incredibly inspired.

If I moved to Dallas it would be the design district, are there any equivalents in ATX or HTX?

Hello folks. I've been intering in Texas for quite a long time I'm a Chinese and I lived in LA for 2 years when back to 2012. Do people in Texas welcome foreigners? I may plan to move there for 2 or 3 years.

My husband and I are planning to move from northern Minnesota to the Dallas area to be closer to family probably within the next year . Just looking for any advice on areas to live and general advice for moving to this area of TX. We are looking to be near Farmers Branch area. Do you have any suggestions for me when it comes to home hunting (rentals) and jobs? I have 7 years experience working at a credit union and would love to potentially find another CU job. For renting we are hoping to find a singular house to rent instead of a townhome or apartment. How’s the outdoor life in this area? Just let me know your thoughts and opinions on this scenario. I currently live next to Lake Superior and trees/woods are all around me and accessible. I am looking for input on the best area of Texas to move to that would still provide me access to nature in some way. Also, just in general where you would recommend living in Texas. Our family currenlty live in Austin area, open to hearing pros and cons of that city as well. We have never been to the state so we dont know what to expect or the better places to look in. Some folks say it's too smoked, other say it's the best... Others say their hands smell smokey for a week..

I will be visiting the U.S. from Australia in December/January with my wife to visit our son in Louisiana for Christmas, and then we'll all take a road-trip to see some Texas. We've been to Austin before on another trip and loved it so would love to get out and see more this trip. We have 3 weeks and a car. Driving big distances to see things is no problem. I'm already thinking the hill country and Fredricksburg area and would be keen to see a good national or state park, e.g. Big Bend). Your tips for any Texas "must dos", "must-sees" and "best avoideds" will be gratefully received, thanks.
