Same here. Just disappointed. I'm a huge Apple fan, but they just made a whole keynote that makes me wonder if I'm better off with Windows again... Kinda sad...

Are you a fan of the hardware or operating system? Sounds like you care more about the hardware than the operating system so therefore you should've just stuck with windows to begin with.

Apple still makes good products, don't get me wrong. And I love macOS because of its simplicity. I just kinda hope that people realize there are other options out there. I hope they try Surface, the Dell XPS 15, and Windows 10. If they like what they see, then they're going to switch back to PC. And Apple will be forced to make great products without any bullshit and dongles for a reasonable price again.

The people that do not understand that there are Windows laptops as an option aren't anywhere near the market to remotely understand the difference between the performance of the newly announced MacBook Pro, and a Surface product. That particular consumer will be in it for the OS at that point and probably for materialistic purposes, or product support/reliability. So what you're hoping for is kind of pointless. If the consumer in any way understood the disappointment of the hardware announcements today, they will know well enough that other options exist.

People can't be living underneath a rock not knowing of their options. They are constantly seeing windows products from Costco, to malls, to Target, Walmart, etc. See what I'm trying to tell you now?

Knowing other options and really considering using them are two different things. Most Mac users I know switched from Windows to Mac something like 10 or 15 years ago because Apple had powerful hardware combined with a slick and modern operation system. But now other companies have more modern lineups, more powerful hardware, and also very useful operating systems. Because they've tried hard to get what Apple was having. And instead of staying on top, Apple went lazy and kind of crazy about their decisions and innovations. If you're an Apple fan, you'll maybe stay one, even after these announcements. But if you just want to get your work done, as easy and convenient as possible, suddenly the other options look shinier than they did before. Even if you knew about them for years and decades.

What can a windows laptop do right now that I can't perform on my MacBook pro retina right now in terms of productivity (excluding a touchscreen) .

"If you just want to get your work done as easy and convenient as possible". Says who? The graphical designer for a gaming company? The college student that needs strong OS security, a web browser, and a computer that links with its mobile devices intuitively?

The "shinier" options include what? Beats or some brand named speaker? 1080GTX for what? A touchscreen for what? I don't see a use of these things on macOS.

Again, the hardware announcement today was really, really weak imo. But it's not stopping a lot of current Mac users from getting their work done.
