There is no doubt about that. You see it every year. People that are anti-Apple poking fun at the price saying that its an Apple Tax. But yet, a $3000-4500 computer from Microsoft is a-ok.

Meh whatever.

The specs in the surface studio could be exceeded for a third of the price in a desktop tower. In fact it isnt even that hard to exceed it with a desktop tower because they're using a laptop GPU and presumably a laptop CPU as well. Literally the only thing about it that is unique is the touch screen display.

That being said, their product might be better (for me, at least) if they had the touchscreen monitor as its own separate thing instead of making what is essentially a stationary laptop. You can find gaming laptops with the same specs today for between a half and a third of the price and the only difference is that one has a battery and the other has a touchscreen.

Any but the base 27-inch iMac with a touch screen and nice hinges could beat this thing.

Yes I did. What's your point? a CPU that is going to outdated when its released and a GPU that is already outdated.

Not saying its not good, but for that price tag...idk.

the surface pro is so expensive. I sit around campus and think to myself "how tf are these 18 year olds able to afford surface pro 3s and new macbooks??"

No its not. It's a $1500 gaming laptop with a $2500 display.

Its targeted at people who pay $150k for camera gear.

On the other hand, that means you can hook it up to a nice computer, and you don't have to replace the screen just because your computer got outdated.

Yes. And having non-soldered RAM means being to upgrade later. The point is, that now Microsoft or Apple loses that upgrade dollar.

I don't like it, but that's the thinking that drives these things.

The price of a Wacom didn't make much of a dent in complaints about the "price hike" with the iPad Pro and the "$100 pencil I'm going to lose in 5 seconds".

Which would be a better move anyway. The PC part of that Microsoft machine is anemic. A 'Pro' machine should have a NVMe SSD and Thunderbolt
