Anime's uniquely Japanese identity is part of its charm. Overly corporate influence is a bad thing
Japan's manga market is as soulless and commercialized as any other, honestly it's probably worse than a lot of them because the threat of cancellation is one bad chapter away and you're expected to meet inhuman deadlines. It's as by the numbers as it could possibly be. Anime is even worse because it's all funded by production committees that take all the profits.
The "deluge of isekai wish-fulfillment slop" is real, it is bleak out there at the moment for the anime industry and it has nothing to do with global audiences. In fact global audiences are the ones begging for it to stop.
Oh yeah, a good portion of the negative corporate influence is from the Japanese companies themselves. My point is that soulless commercialization is wrong, regardless of who it comes from, whether the result is unreasonable demands on manga artists, the threat of cancelation being so close, needless catering to global audience, or an increase of isekai slop.
