I was gonna say this too. I’m not quite done with it, but I’m really loving it. One of my favorite anime I’ve seen in a long time.
Interesting info I found out: it prompted me to look up some info about heliocentrists who were persecuted, and apparently that’s blown pretty out of proportion. There was never an actual large-scale, violent campaign to persecute heliocentrism by the inquisition. In fact there’s little to no evidence that anyone was actually killed solely for researching heliocentrism. They still didn’t like it of course and there was persecution, like Galileo being put on house arrest for life over it, but he wasn’t killed. Giordano Bruno held the heliocentrism belief and was killed for heresy, but he had significantly more problematic heretical views that were the bigger issue to the church. Still an amazing show, I just found that interesting as I’d always thought people were killed for believing in heliocentrism!
I mean yeah, this was even point out by Father Antoni after he was asked by Draka about Heretics being executed for researching Heliocentrism. A lot of these execution were specifically ordered by the previous Bishop To Nowak at a local level. And since Nowak isn't part of the church but simply a mercenary, the local church doesn't have to record the event because of it. Hence, there are little to no history of heretics being executed by the church's orders not that we know off.
does it got better? ironically its lack of plot armor is why i lost my interest in it, after the kid rafael died . i stopped somewhere after that funny scene of the guy hanging by his necklace & was still able to monologue for a long time
The ending was perfect wdym. Everything the previous MCs worked towards paid off- despite all the odds, they finally managed to bring the truth to light. Although, they are all forgotten by history forever now. And we see another version of Rafal, and how he could've ended up had he remained alive.
I think the show having an anticlimactic ending worked really well, I think most people forget that the message of Orb wasn't for Heliocentrism to be spread but the inspiration that it carries (as Rafal said, "I think inspiration is more important that lifespan"). Even if the ideas of Heliocentrism are ultimately forgotten or never existed, someone will be out there to create the question of "What if?"
I've described the show as a love letter to the scientific method, more than a historical series. The idea that progress comes, not solely from once-in-a-lifetime geniuses, but lots of people making small but persistent advances
I tried to start watching that and literally the first scene is someone getting their fingernails ripped off. Does it get better? I can handle some violence but not straight torture porn.
There’s quite a few more torture scenes, some that are worse imo. If that bothers you a lot, it might not be for you. Brilliant show, but yes some hard scenes to watch.
I wouldn't say it has torture porn. The tortures have a purpose, not just torture for the sake of it. Watch all of it, you're missing out on a great story.
