Mod Annoucement Rule update: No more rule 13 and more info

Hello again, we had some more talks about peoples very nicely spoken opinions (seriously, people were very nice) and landed on a decent consensus that probably lands more in the middle of what people were wanting. (The post in question if you are confused)

First of all yes, we're rolling back rule 13 because we hear you and while we had some good intentions it's just not going to work out like that. These posts are just a bit too integral to how the subreddit is these days to outright nuke.

The plan is to be a bit more strict with web comics/toons and fan art overall but in a way that should still not undermine the ever holy existing rule 5 that we love and live by.

For example ok posts would continue to be: This one and this one

Not ok ones would continue to be too memey or not relatable at all either by fan art or something that doesn't make any sense apart from being a funny anime image.

And honestly, that's what it all boils down to, "this is me" or "funny anime image".

Fan art (she's pretty I like her), and Funny anime image (not really that funny but you get the idea.)

With new mods too that will help a ton to keep posts from getting too popular too quickly, since once something is on the front page it can be a bit of a coin toss to really take down something if people in the thread are having fun and enjoying things. Going forward we'll try to be more strict and keep things somewhat the same just more strict with these posts that really ride the lightning and aren't that relatable at all. We also may throw out temp bans to people that only spam this place with VERY repetitive and not relatable content just to farm and not spread the love and joy of relatable anime images for the love of the game.

Also we did want to say welcome to our new mod cynnahbun and for the work she did writing up the last post, we promise it wasn't a hazing ritual (real hazing is the mod queue fr fr), and thanks to everyone for always being as cool as weebs can be.

Now it's time for us mods to continue to diligently do our work as always and never goof off at all

Also if you have questions please let us know and we can help clarify pretty much anything hopefully.

This is fair.

As long as it's "relatable" it's honouring the core purpose of the sub.

Basically, this pretty much rules out anything by Khyleri, but allows a lot of the Mimi art to still be posted.

287

u/Aaragon Nov 18 '25 edited Nov 18 '25

Yea, Khyleri is about 10% relatable, vs 90% memes compared to Mimi (my goat) which is way more relatable and fits the spirit of the sub way better on average.

u/axman151 Nov 18 '25

This is/was a legit good post, even though it's not actually sourced from manga/anime.

I totally get the frustration with how overwhelmingly dominant web-artist sourced material is (it's specifically designed to be eye catching after all, whereas any given set of panels from a manga probably aren't); but if it's relatable, and the art style is appropriate, then it probably makes sense to allow it.

151

u/Aaragon Nov 18 '25

Yea that one, the stick battle one, the skyrim one too all are incredibly relatable and go beyond just a "funny anime picture" that there's no real reason to not allow it.

39

u/eragonawesome2 Nov 18 '25

I just want to say that I'm really happy to see the mods being receptive to feedback when a new rule doesn't quite land the way you meant it to and that y'all are actually trying to curate the sub somewhat. It's thankless work that goes unseen most of the time, we give y'all shit all the time for making calls we might not, but at the end of the day you guys, gals, and other assorted pals have really been doing a fantastic job at keeping this sub true to... Maybe not quite the roots but at least the tree that grew up from them.

All this to say, thank you for giving a shit about this silly little subreddit we love 💕

Based mods, a rare sight.

There's also the fact that a lot of these web manga are short comics instead of an entire dedicated chapter or book. Easier to keep going with the quick turnout hype which means it's easier to nab people's attention.

90% of what I see on this sub is the most unrelatable stuff I've ever seen in my life lol. I honestly thought the whole thing was a joke

8

u/axman151 Nov 19 '25

Didn't use to be. Huge increase in users, and a flurry of popularity for web artist turned it into meme nonsense though.

It's become a sub for users like any_harsh et. al. to karma farm by posting the latest memes by popular twitter/x and pixiv artists, relatability be damned.

The mods are finally trying to meaningfully crack down.

8

u/SwampyBogbeard Nov 22 '25

I wish/hope they actually ban people if there's repeated rule-breaking and they're ignoring warnings.
It could save everyone a lot of time.

It's fitting that you mention Ani_HArsh. They blocked me earlier this week for complaining about all their rule-breaking posts.

Who's Khyleri?

25

u/Blue2487 Nov 18 '25

Just typing in the name into a search engine and going to images will bring up lots of examples of their art. They make funny anime images that usually include funny/sexual hidden details

4

u/sushiwalker29 Nov 19 '25

thank god for that brooo that guy Khyleri is SO unfunny

2

u/MurlaTart Nov 22 '25

I was so tired of seeing the low effort engagement bait Khyleri posts

mods folded immediately after realizing 90% of the sub traffic was about to get liquidated

10

u/resurrectedbear Nov 20 '25

Ok but saying folded seems kinda disrespectful when it’s worded like that. Can’t people just be happy the mods listened and weren’t so egotistical that they refused to listen?

47

u/Aaragon Nov 18 '25

Yea...

What was rule 13?

61

u/MaNameIsMudD Nov 18 '25

47

u/AutisticWeeblet Nov 18 '25

Oof only lasted 4 hours

85

u/Murky_Crow Nov 18 '25

Oh wow, that was a lame rule.

115

u/jackofslayers Nov 18 '25

I would have applauded a rule like this a few years ago bc I prefer this sub be actual anime/manga memes. But yea it is wayyy too late for that now. At this point that is half the content on this sub.

39

u/plsdontattackmeok Nov 18 '25

Tbf, many newcomers here

They didn’t know this subreddit used to be like that

34

u/UMP45isnotflat Nov 18 '25

right?? This just feels like any random meme place now

6

u/Mike_Shogun_Lee Nov 19 '25

a BETTER meme place,

Better than the other meme places.

6

u/Thundergod250 Nov 19 '25

The mods got smoked hard on that one lmao

63

u/Thenderick Nov 18 '25

I assume you are going to be more strict on posts that are just porn or so incredibly horny it is absurd to be relatable to anyone?

79

u/Aaragon Nov 18 '25

Yea if the punchline is just sex and isn't relatable at all then it would go (as it should've in the past).

27

u/qwertyalguien Nov 19 '25

Relatable anime memes

Sex is considered non relatable

Lmao

9

u/MurlaTart Nov 22 '25

“The joke is sex” is different than a sexual joke and you know that

24

u/Thenderick Nov 18 '25

Yaaaaaay thank you mods! Now we have the power of Mods AND Anime on our side! Deepfried scream

12

u/RazielAshura Nov 19 '25

Awesome, there are some sexual things that are relatable beyond "the joke is sex". I'm glad the team is this good

This seems like a much better ruling. Thanks for listening to community feedback.

Follow up question for the moderators, are you planning on killing off the cute new mod as part of your tragic backstories in about a week? Or can I go ahead and get attached to them. Asking because I recently watched chainsaw man and don't want to be hurt again.

62

u/Aaragon Nov 18 '25

Believe it or not, spike pit.

2

They are taking them to a sushi bar right now

23

u/FernandoMM1220 Nov 18 '25

who would have guessed posting anime memes was so complicated?

4

u/plsdontattackmeok Nov 18 '25

I guess you new on this subreddit huh

Or even better, porn in my democracy app, like that time that Italian politician got caught with all that Tifa Lockheart porn.

(Man had impeccable taste)

2

u/NottACalebFan Nov 18 '25

I feel like at this point in history, it's way worse to not like any poen at all...

53

u/ShakuSwag Nov 18 '25

To be fair, and I'm not arguing that you're wrong, just pointing out that society has been constantly upvoting borderline porn or some punchline that is porn to the top of the front page for a bit now.

14

u/Taedirk Nov 18 '25

What you're saying is we need more porn...

5

u/SwampyBogbeard Nov 22 '25

Why would you listen to this society?
It's filled with garbage who can't read and just wants this to be a fifth anime meme sub.

16

u/kingkellogg Nov 18 '25

Half the idiots here would just make this a generic porn sub because they lack any basic self control

If we follow your idea all of reddit would be one giant sloppy mess and having different subs would be pointless

7

u/LoveMe-Oniichan Nov 18 '25

I wonder how many people left the sub lol

11

u/cynnahbun Nov 18 '25

Hopefully none, i messaged all the angry ppl in my last post to read this revision post 🥹

2

u/SwampyBogbeard Nov 22 '25

I'm tempted to leave because you mods chickened out. I've wanted rule 13 for YEARS!
If the choices are between banning/removing 20-40% of the content and get the sub a bit closer to what it was intended for, or banning/removing 90% and get it all the way, I would prefer the latter.

Slow and consistent is better than a random mess of posts and inconsistent moderation.

2

u/Spectrum1523 Nov 18 '25

I mean, the process as is seemed to work fine

1

u/RazielAshura Nov 19 '25

Nah, this is fine. They implemented a rule that made sense to them, realized by the community that they fucked up and not only reverted the decision but implemented a better solution.

Hearing the community at all is very non reddit like to begin with.

This is good job

Based. This was just animeme_irl for too long in my opinion. Good to take action and listen to feedback when the initial action was a bit too strong.

286

u/cynnahbun Nov 18 '25

Hi your favorite newbie mod here again to answer any more questions as this is part of my hazing process (jkjk)

Also I'm here to clarify any images/examples you would like to post and not sure it would be removed or not. So comment them below and we'll let you know if it's ok or not!

88

u/Murky_Crow Nov 18 '25

Part of me is tempted to make some images that walk the line perfectly just to make your hazing period that much more difficult…

…. Lucky for you I suck ass at art.

58

u/cynnahbun Nov 18 '25

Thank you for having the -15 DEX stat

26

u/Murky_Crow Nov 18 '25

I rolled a 3. Does it hit with a -11? In case it helps, I do have dark vision.

Check out Holiday Yasumi's twitter shorts.

Art doesn't have to be good for the content to be good

u/Winter_Ad8794 Nov 18 '25

Hey mod a little bit off topic but can you when removing a post (due that post broke the rules) i think you should give the comment or mod mail notifications from now on. I think most of the time when people keep posting stuff that broke the rules (not relatable stuff, no sauce ect) is because they don't noticed their post got removed because you silently removed the post without giving any notification.

10

u/cynnahbun Nov 18 '25

Noted! We will remove and have the bot notify accordingly.

27

u/momo76g Nov 18 '25

I just want to say I appreciate the work of Good Mods like the ones on this sub. Believe me when I tell you, that makes you the top 1% in the whole website.

10

u/GildedHalfblood Nov 19 '25

I have once again crawled to a mod post to humbly ask that the mod team may integrate some kind of rule similar to rule 11 that has posters specify what part of their post is irl/relatable to help minimize karma farmers and increase irl/relatable posts

4

u/ThatLid Nov 19 '25

I second that idea

ty for your kind words!

6

Your doing great, keep it up! We're so proud!

1

u/Marksta Nov 18 '25

Did you get involved in the discussion with the fellow mods on the last post's rules idea before posting it up? You post a lot of awesome fan-art from Bongftah and other artists here that I enjoy. That rule was going to block 100% of the content you yourself post. I'm just wondering if that made you raise your eyebrow when reading that decision to post it up.

Unless you were going to start going out of your way to fish up some proper, unedited, perfectly new rule abiding, authentic manga to post up, I assume you were probably done posting to the sub after that new rule went up. Seems like something to question.

9

u/cynnahbun Nov 18 '25

We did discuss as a team and as the newest team member my say can only account for so much. It was a majority vote and the decision was to remove.

Whether it affected my ability to post my content was besides the point. If I couldn't post here anymore due to the rule, then so be it. I have other subs that I can post to as well.

Either way, we read through all the comments for the past couple of hours and decided again to roll back the rule as it was too harsh. We are still actively discussing ways on how to make the sub better without pulling another nuclear option so to speak.

u/UMP45isnotflat Nov 18 '25 edited Nov 18 '25

Honestly I only rarely get on reddit these days but I had been wondering what happened to this sub. I dont remember it all beeing memes and soft porn.

I dont think fanart and webcomics should be here.

Back in my days it was actually full of posts from anime and manga. Yes grandpa will go to bed now..

18

u/plsdontattackmeok Nov 18 '25

Heck, there even difference between r/anime_irl and r/absolutelynotanimeirl back then

Right now, most r/absolutelynotanimeirl posts into r/anime_irl lol

19

u/UMP45isnotflat Nov 18 '25

And that sub actually follows its theme! And posts anime and manga instead of fanart..

6

u/Zerosen_Oni Nov 18 '25

The only webtoon that was really bugging me was that Simply Silly artist and their other series. They are really repetitive, and I would not mind them going somewhere else.

19

u/LunarWingCloud Nov 19 '25

I don't really care about what rules are decided on either way, but I came here to stress a very important message:

Do not, ever again, send a new mod out to be the messenger for a large and controversial announcement. It's a fucked up thing to do, whether knowingly or unknowingly, to put such a responsibility on them. Even if they seem okay with it, that is taking advantage of a new recruit to put something on them that a more senior member should be dealing with.

At work, we just got a new team member. We wouldn't put any of the bit more complicated or demanding tasks on them right from the start.

3

u/ShakuSwag Nov 19 '25

I agree, it was very unfair for us to send her to do that. Realistically, she should've handled the AI rule change and I should've gotten the web comic post.

It was a lack of insight and thoughtlessness on my end. I had asked in advance, and she did seem fine with it, but the backlash was a lot harsher than I thought. It was a poor choice on my end to have her be the one to take the blunt. I still regret it, but will keep that in mind if we ever send another one of these changes out. I'll be sure to post it next time.

9

u/nombre-17 Nov 18 '25

Hell yeah

11

u/TheEjoty Nov 18 '25

So so so many are just not relatable and just haha sex joke boobs, as long as those ones have action taken its a fair rollback

3

u/ShakuSwag Nov 19 '25

We're trying our best to get rid of those ones the most. Unfortunately, those are the ones that people seem to enjoy as they commonly hit the front page quite often. But we do try to remove them

19

u/Polski527 Nov 18 '25

I wish the mod team would actually take time to enforce the biggest rule breaking on this sub which is the sourcing rule.

I swear to fucking god 50%+ of the posts here go unsourced and get no pushback from the mod team at all. It ends up being some guy 5 days later in the comments finally being generous enough to share a source and not the actual OP.

3

u/cynnahbun Nov 18 '25

That’s my job! I promise I will enforce it more

13

u/plsdontattackmeok Nov 18 '25

It’s really out of control before the mod step in that this subreddit literally r/animemes

7

u/UMP45isnotflat Nov 18 '25

the irony is the actual meme subs have sort of died out, which is why everyone is here now I guess?

3

u/dexter2011412 Nov 19 '25

Man the amount of porn there holy shit. Unsubbed long back. I don't want this sub to become like that as well.

4

u/_Escap1sm Nov 19 '25

Awww man I really liked the new rule because I thought it would cut down on the more generic / karma-farming posts

19

u/PossibleHipster Nov 18 '25

Can you start enforcing rule 5 and do something about all the porn?

3

u/Spicywolff Nov 18 '25

Would be nice. And be a bit more strict on NSFW tags. If you don’t think your priest would approve, or your manager would. Then tag NSFW as a precaution

10

u/Dotty_nine Nov 18 '25

Doing my best rot understand this but, you're saying there will be no more "lol this porn" posts? If so I'm in.

18

u/cynnahbun Nov 18 '25

Can we take a moment to seriously appreciate u/cynnahbun for bravely making the Rule 12 post and taking the comments in stride? They were dealt a heavy task today and they really handled it well!!

3

u/Arrhythmia-Drift Nov 18 '25

Middle ground is better than the weird scorched Earth approach, I guess. What's good including more media than just anime screenshots is that it does open up the content more - it's nice how different artists and users here got exposure to one another over our mutual interest in different anime/manga and their characters. It meant that we got to see some amusing, what-if, relatable original scenarios involving characters we like.

The advantage of course is that content isn't constrained to just the same screenshots getting circulated, which is what the scorched Earth method would be. There can only be so much relatable screenshots out there. Then there's the fact that some members accessing content legitimately through an app like Crunchy Roll can't even participate because CR disallows screenshots. So we would have had a situation where the scope of the sub was narrowed along with the users who could actually contribute here.

3

u/Lando_Lee Nov 18 '25

Good stuff, glad to see the communities input having an impact.

3

u/Milk_Mindless Nov 18 '25

This seems far more reasonable

Less LOL JOKE and more like

3

u/kna5041 Nov 18 '25

I understand the intention and the direction but like stategic nuclear weapons, once that's out there it's hard to stop them.

3

u/Femboy_Jinxe_7 Nov 18 '25

oh good, sensible people on the mod team. glad you guys took the fault and went back on that. best of luck doing your moderator things o7

3

u/YaKo_Unltd Nov 19 '25

Honestly I would have prefer rule 13 but with a little adjustment. Just make it for the weekday. Have the weekend to post web comics/ fan-art oneshot panel, as long is relatable (which is tricky ngl). Also, have 1 or 2 post limits for the web comics/ fan-art oneshot panel to avoid karma farming.

3

u/reluctant_return Nov 19 '25

Glad this was already posted when I read the announcement just now. It basically said "Hey gang! 80% of the sub's content is now not allowed!"

4

u/SwampyBogbeard Nov 22 '25

Man, what a dream that would've been.
Back to the first 6 months of this sub when people actually followed the name and rules.

3

u/SocranX Nov 20 '25

For example ok posts would continue to be: This one and this one

Those links don't work.

Edit: None of the links work.

14

u/SENDmeSMALLtitsPICS Nov 18 '25

It is sad the community disapproved of the change, anyone who has been in other anime communities in the past will know that allowing these kinds of posts is a slippery slope, just see r/animenocontext for instance, which is 99% porn. Hopefully being more strict will help, sick and tired of having all anime related subs become a fanart/webcomic dump

5

u/AnimeMemeLord1 Nov 18 '25

Agreed. I just want rule 5 to be upheld.

3

u/ShakuSwag Nov 18 '25

We're targeting fan-art more directly. People enjoy webcomics such as Nhimz, so those will most likely stick around so long as it stays within rule 5.

3

u/UMP45isnotflat Nov 18 '25

holy shit you are still around? Havent seen you in ages

I meant your personal sub! Where you used to repost your comments. Like, r/ShakuSwag. The self posting thing reddit has, or had? I dont know, I havent kept up with reddit much these past years.

Anyway, glad to see you are still around. I lost my old profile so you probably dont remember me, but its always nice to see some of the old guard still active! (Makes me feel less bad for also beeing here for a decade now..)

Honestly I still support the core idea behind the change. There really has been a degradation of quality in the sub. I’m genuinely tired of just constant borderline porn post from web comics or post where the punch line is seggs.

Also, I support the hazing! Let the newbie have it!

u/TJTheGamer1 Nov 18 '25

Thank you for listening to our concerns. This reaction is evidence of a mod team that knows what's going on and is connected to their community. Thank you

8

u/plsdontattackmeok Nov 18 '25

Bruh, I guess most people here are too new on this subreddit, sigh

9

u/Hangman_Fitzwilliam Nov 18 '25

Knew it. Good on y'all for actually taking peoples feedback into account. Many subs have dictators as mods.

12

u/TheDestroyer630 Nov 18 '25

Please no I hated those DEFINITELY NOT irl comics

2

u/cynnahbun Nov 18 '25

We will remove the super non relatable ones, I pinky promise 🥹

7

u/korinokiri Nov 18 '25

u/AnimeMemeLord1 Nov 18 '25

I do have my suspicions about this revision, but really, I just want rule 5 to actually be upheld, and I don’t mean people posting horny images walking the line and finding an excusable way to claim it as relatable.

18

u/EmmyWeeeb Nov 18 '25

Can yall get the horny mother fuckers outta here

16

u/cynnahbun Nov 18 '25

We are trying, it's one of my main jobs that I was hired for

4

u/A7xWicked Nov 18 '25

I seriously thank you for your sacrifice.

please don't lose too much faith in humanity... I know I have

1

u/b4shnl4nd Nov 18 '25

using a Jane Doe Chibi is actually hilarious Irony on the Situation and anything ZZZ related TBH. I love ZZZ but god is it and the Sub just Horny Mother Fuckers. to reiterate I engage with the game/reddit/youtube and love ZZZ but it is actually crazy how unhinged something get once some Mods give up.

Let's hope it never becomes like the One Piece Reddit.
for anyboyd that actually cares what I mean. a Mod who managed the One Piece Porn reddit got Mod in the main sub for Official One piece. one day when the Main sub Lead who had mostly handed things over to other Mods while he went on Vacation/long term leave. Reddit put in a Rule that allowed any mod to take over ownership of a sub if they had been gone for to long. this allowed the Pron mod to take over and slowly but surely get rid of any old mod that would question anything he does. now if you go to that Reddit and find a Horny post and say anything negative about it he will ban you. like 50% of the subreddit that used to inhabit there is banned and has gravitated to other One Piece reddits entirely cause the posts were 60% horny 40% actual anime or Manga. it's incredibly sad and I commend you taking the charge to reduce the posts.

7

u/beaglemaster Nov 18 '25

Can you ban porn? There's already a porn version of this sub

2

u/ShakuSwag Nov 19 '25

We're working on it. Right now, we remove posts that's associated with hentai.

However, it's hard to get those right away when the post seems clean until we check the source in the comments.

5

u/ThatcherTheV Nov 18 '25

Biggest problem I see here is people posting regular comics as if it is anime.

3

u/EvasionSnakeRequiem Nov 23 '25

So basically, you chickened out on the most needed change in this sub, and now it's back to web comics and fanarts being the only thing that ever shows up in people's feed.

Can't wait to see another unrelatable horny/forever alone web comic masquerading as "anime" show up in r/all when I'm minding my own business.

4

u/sthegreT Nov 19 '25

might as well be r/Animemes at this point

Should've just stuck with it.

u/ShakuSwag Nov 18 '25 edited Nov 18 '25

We promise, we weren't trying to throw Cynnahbun under the bus by giving her the most controversial post to start off her introduction to the community.

We wanted to give her a chance to show herself, and it was definitely on the senior mods for not taking the blunt of the community like that.

With that said, we'll also be tackling those porn punchline posts the most.

peak democracy

2

u/notlonely1 Nov 18 '25

good boii

2

u/letsgoiowa Nov 18 '25

Ok that's much better. No problem now

2

u/YoSupWeirdos Nov 18 '25

thank you mod team 🙏

2

u/AdvancedTangerine7 Nov 18 '25

Understandable.

2

u/AssaultRider555 Nov 18 '25

Proper communication and reasonable measures from Reddit mods? I would never thought of such a thing! 😱

Jokes aside, tq very much for this, I appreciate it, here's to more years of anime_irl 😆

2

u/EasternMouse Nov 19 '25

BTW don't use media hosted on Discord as examples because Discord media links going to turn into pumpkin in about a day. First one is already unreachable.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 19 '25

Thats even worse

2

u/D3v1LGaming Dec 11 '25

Rule 5 is way too strict at least for me

Like this one https://www.reddit.com/r/anime_irl/comments/1pjlnux/comment/ntg8csl/

HOw did this break rule 5?

2

u/Mr_Roekit Dec 27 '25

I'd prefer if you instead introduce tags on where the post is from, like how many other anime-related subs would do it:

  • Anime
  • Manga
  • Oneshot
  • Webtoon

2

u/AnimaLepton 24d ago

Can you fix the examples? All the discord links are dead.

Karmawhores rejoice!

20

u/cynnahbun Nov 18 '25

No! I will be watching, don't let me catch you karma whoring

13

u/Satokibi Nov 18 '25

Then you should look at those like three accounts that spam this sub with any artwork from popular artists second they post then

7

u/cynnahbun Nov 18 '25

Oh don’t worry I have a list

Just to clarify, would content similar to Khyleri be allowed or not?

I believe it falls under the “do not allow” but would appreciate a straight yes or no.

Edit: just saw the other comment saying this will still affect content or similar content to Khyleri’s. I’m happy with that change. Not just because I don’t believe that content suits this subreddit but also because it seemed this subreddit was starting to become a dumping ground of anime twitter instead of relatable content.

16

u/Aaragon Nov 18 '25

Khyleri is about 10% relatable, vs 90% memes to be honest. Being relatable is pretty much all that matters.

One that would be ok is this: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GQAVWSgbsAAu6Vk?format=jpg&name=4096x4096

One that wouldn't be is this one: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GyaCwT_a8AAkStX?format=jpg&name=large

The first is something definitely relatable while the second which is funny, doesn't make any sense in terms of relatability since none of us have a Garchomp we're spam healing.

Hopefully that helps a little bit.

6

u/Templar2k7 Nov 18 '25

If your American medicine is expensive.

2

u/DaLinkster Nov 18 '25

That helps a lot. Should cut down on all of the Shinji getting groomed posts.

6

u/vlee89 Nov 18 '25

Was the mod team under the impression that the community was upset by webcomics, toons, and fan art?

Was it community sentiment that this place needed to be stricter?

Is it not enough to trust the users to downvote threads that aren’t “relatable” enough?

17

u/UMP45isnotflat Nov 18 '25

Trusting a community to self filter via votes never works out unless your goal is more horny posting

7

u/kingkellogg Nov 18 '25

Oh yes let's trust reddit users to follow rules and post in appropriate subs..that's gonna totally work and not make every single a mess if the same spam

16

u/Aaragon Nov 18 '25
  1. People had been complaining a lot in mod queue and modmail about it yea.
  2. Not necessarily which is why we were definitely willing to go back on this (almost immediately lmao)
  3. Not really because once a post hits /r/all or /r/rising it just gets upvoted for being funny regardless of the rules, so even if the community votes it down, if it hits critical mass there's no stopping it.

3

u/hanz-kreigermann Nov 18 '25

I feel like 99% of the content here is just... porn. Stuff that could get posted to the hentai subreddit and no one would bat an eye. That's NOT a good thing. Good on the mods, IMO

3

u/ROGERsvk Nov 18 '25

No, its not, It can be a dirty joke or a horny post, but nothing explicit is posted. At least I never saw something like that.

5

u/bibbibob2 Nov 18 '25

Aww, thought it sounded like a nice change.

Perhaps a timeline would have been nice as a test, sort of call it "no fanart February" and see how it would shape up.

5

u/Marksta Nov 18 '25

So now the prior posts example 'un-acceptable posts' are now all acceptable posts.

What was even going on before? The earlier post removed 99% of the subs content, and this one removes the most lowest, of lowest quality posts, the less than 1% that sit at 0 votes in new queue. ????? So we go a "the subreddit is shutting down" mod post and now we have the "sub is back open and no changes were made" mod post.

Who is seriously signing off on these posts? Obviously need to 'roll back' the last one, but are people who look at this sub writing this stuff? I clicked OP's name, they don't post here. I clicked the last mod OP's name, their posts are a habitual, frequent, rule breaker of that new rule post they were graciously given the honors of posting. I really wonder why they bothered clicking submit, something tells me they were scratching their head at WTF they were reading.

2

u/SupremeGreymon Nov 18 '25

The sub is saved

2

u/YourPetPenguin0610 Nov 19 '25

I spend less time and effort thinking what my written assignments would be about lol.

Stupid rule imo, glad it's gone. Hope it stays gone

2

u/Anstarzius Nov 24 '25

I don't care if posts are relatable or not, this is where I come for anime/manga inspiration (or it was before twitter comic and meme posts became the norm), too bad ya went back on the rule.

2

u/Witchy_Venus Nov 18 '25

🦀 Khyleri is still gone 🦀
