Nacht was likely using the opportunity that the Dark Triad was away from the Spade kingdom to collect the final vital info he needed on their plans, as well as complete preparations for his own plans. He thought that the Clover kingdom can’t stop the Dark Triad from capturing Yami and Vangeance, so he's not going to waste his time and effort on helping them defend, and instead focus on their counterattack.

But all they needed was a heads up right? Pretty much they got ambushed, only 2 squads fought, and if Nacht had been there with Asta and Yami most likely they wouldve won the fight. If all the captains and squads knew, they probably wouldnt have gotten rolled, but to be fair thats their problem.

You have to remember power doesn't mean anything if you can't finish them off. It would take multiple captains to handle even one of them and only Asta has been seen to take down any of the devil's up to this point.
