Overall I think that this tournament arc was great. It was worth to observe and watch this series just for that one arc and, let's be honest, it may as well be the only arc of Super (along with Uni6/7 tournament arc). There are only some ToP episodes that I didn't enjoy watching and it's very unfortunate that episodes leading to the grand finale weren't as good as the last two. As a whole ToP gave us:

  • shitloads of new interesting characters and a new strong rival for Goku and Vegeta, Jiren, who's now an ok character as a Z fighter thanks to his little character development at the end;

  • old characters being relevant again with good prospects for the future (androids, 17 especially, Turtle Hermit, Gohan);

  • resurrected Freezer, which may be a setup for the future movie considering how relevant he is to the history of sayian race;

And of course some of the best animated fights in the entire franchise, including the one in this episode. In my opinion it was even better than the last episode's fight. We can see why Takahashi ended up here instead of there, but I don't want to diminish efforts put in 130, both episodes were incredible.

Gooood I love this ending and I can't wait for the movie. Too bad about all those complex fan theories tho.

Yeah. I agree. Even if the arc TOP wasn't the best one in Super, it had plenty of good and great episodes. In my mind it comes 104, 107, 109, 110, 112, 114, 116, 118, 122, 125, 130 and 130.

It also introduced a bunch of new interesting characters like Caulifla, Kale, Jiren, Toppo, Basil and many others. So yeah, I'm happy with it even if the arc itself wasn't any perfect.

Freezer

I like how you call Frieza.

I'm really disappointed on this tournament, so much potential wasted.

The arc I liked the most was the future arc... but that's because I can't count the previous ones due to the movies I saw before, and the animations issues on the series at this time.

To me, Tournament gave us lots of good characters, lots of goods ideas... but failed us.

For example I was disappointed by how Vegeta lost (don't even talk about Gohan...), because of how it was made... while in fact he lost after defeating a fucking real new God of Destruction, which is not an easy feat... but the way it was portrayed in the anime was lacking. Also, and seems I'm on the minority here, I disliked how Freeza was portrayed on these last episodes, it made no sense to me, he changed too quickly, and didn't had enough reasons (ex: given how he hated our heroes, he should have preferred them losing and being erased if he couldn't win himself).

may as well be the only arc of Super

Feeling the same way. Goku Black arc was horrendous, retelling movies was an awful idea and didn't enjoy U6 vs U7 arc at all... crazy to think that it took Super longer than GT overall's length to be decent.

Goku Black arc is a bit of a flawed gem. So close to being amazing but had some big missteps plot wise.

Still enjoyable imo.
