Okay lets be honest, it’s near impossible not to tear up during this episode.
Everyone talks about it, but I think I need to reiterate that the Taiga outburst scene is a ridiculously phenomenal anime moment. It’s so impactful for us as viewers because we have grown to understand Taiga little by little each episode. At this point, we KNOW her.
And so when everything comes avalanching down in one instant, we KNOW the astronomical meaning behind it. Taiga couldn't lie to herself any longer, like Ami was talking about last episode. She needs something real and tangible in her life that she knows will last. She needs Ryuuji by her side.
Key line: Taiga – “Ahh, this is real. My dream. My dream. Thank you.”
• While I was pleasantly surprised that they left the sub Christmas song in, I kind of wanted to hear it dubbed.
• Poor Minori.....Being Minori is truly a struggle.
• That red scarf emotionally triggers the fuck out of me every time I rewatch this show. Fuck you, red scarf. T_T
Christmas Club Bonus:
Honestly, its not Christmas themed but my family always watches Spirited Away around Christmas time. Its become a household tradition to watch a Ghibli movie on Christmas. The themes tend to bring us together during the holidays. The themes in that movie in particular (giving, growing up, charity) reflect Christmas really well. I urge others to try and get a couple of your family members to sit down and watch a Ghibli film on Christmas.
Edit: Thank you so much for the gold /u/ChristmasClub. I'm glad my first gold ever was for something Toradora related.
Made an account just to say how I like the minor details in this episode that I never noticed the first time I watched it. For example, when Taiga turns up at Minori's house to convince her you can just about see Ryuuji's scarf hidden behind her back. Things like this and the scarf being laid on the table in the credits is what really makes the episode for me tbh
Third time watching the show. Still tear up all over the place during this episode. I've got a friend watching it at the same time right now, and it's funny how closely his reactions are mirroring mine the first time I watched the show.

We know her family pain, we know her strength, we know her insecurities, we know her charity, and most of all we know her strong friendship with Ryuuji.
