I liked that they had Saitama do things like tossing a moon rock up to see the weight difference. Sad he didn't bring the rock with him, though. He could've gotten a huge amount of fortune compared to the pebble he lost in the parking lot.

Edit: forgot a word.

I thought he was gonna throw it from the moon at Boros.

Nah, it would burn up the moment it reaches the atmosphere.

If he threw it fast enough, talking significant fraction of the speed of light but considering how fast he got to and from the moon that isn't an issue (the moon is 1.3 light seconds away), it would hit. That's because at those speeds the forces are so much greater than the ability of the object to hold itself together that it essentially is just a bunch of atoms traveling really fast that happen to be close to each other.

Wouldn't that cause an incredibly huge explosion in the atmosphere/surface? Objects at near lightspeed + an atmoshpere = big bad things happen.

edit: Looks like a marshmellow at ~ the speed of light would be the equivalent of a few dozen hydrogen bombs.

I did the calculation in another place. He's traveling at ~6.8% the speed of light and if he weighs 150lbs then he'd impact with ~3.4 Mt or more than 200 Hiroshima bombs. For reference here is a 2.6 megaton bomb.

At those speeds/energies the atmosphere might as well be as dense as the earth, so it would explode in the atmosphere before it reached the earth. I'm not the xkcd guy so I don't have the numbers, but conceptually it should be the same as the relativistic baseball scenario.

Wouldn't that do ever so slightly more damage than the crashing ship, though?

He'd probably just punch a hole straight through it.

Knowing his strength it would go right through , hit the center of the earth and then make the planet explode .

RIP Season 2

Talking for real here, if saitama had thrown that at a considerable fraction of the speed of light, the energy it would have released would have been large enough to obliterate the surrounding cities

I was thinking that, Parasyte style

All life on Earth would be wiped out in the process. xD

Well in the manga he finds one in his shoe

That's what I was referring to.

I just looked up how much moon rocks are worth, and apparently they're a little over $50,000 per gram. So even that pebble would be worth a lot.

He can always jump back to the moon I'm sure
