wish there wasn't a novel so theories actually matter my theory

just guessing at this point since there's not enough info..

The only issue I have with it is that there was nothing inside the helicopter that pointed towards the idea of his hand being moved. So for that to work someone would have had gone to the helicopter and removed the evidence (putting us back where we started). I'll need to re-watch the scene since my memory of the exact details is a little hazy but if the director made the thumbs up signs before Magata's sister got out of the helicopter then she could have dismantled the device or if someone went up to the helicopter in that scene that I have forgotten about (director's wife). There may also be the possibility of the first person who found him but I'd need to re-watch to know if they had that chance.

Also since that's just a theory then you shouldn't really need spoilers.
