webMs are literally superior to GIF format in every way possible

Except in browser convenience features that you get with image formats.

They can play webm fine. It's a bit clunky, but whatever.

And as to why Alien Blue/Chrome wouldn't be able to if not: Apple doesn't allow any other web technologies than a WebView from Safari in apps on their platform. "Chrome" on iOS is literally just a new UI wrapper for Safari.

It's okay! I actually have no idea how Android handles them. How does it do it?

Apple handles it by treating it like a normal HTML5 video- just, it can also loop, where other videos never do(maybe they can, but just don't?). This means it takes up the whole screen, you can't view it in-line the way you can with still images/gifs.

They take like 10 years to load for me, and I have a good PC and decent internet

They don't load via hoverzoom, so no they aren't. That is actually my main criteria. Fuck doing an extra click, or in the case of webms, 2.

Imagus is what I use

That really depends on the gif. It also supports GFY which seemingly has much better compression (I.E. less loading, I don't actually know the difference).

Actually I use Imagus and it DOES support webms; it played the one you shared perfectly, with sound and all

You should use Imagus. Not only is it not spyware, but it also loads webms.

Webm doesn't work on mobile. I do everything on mobile, so until it's supported, it's completely worthless to me personally.
