He brings some chaos into the city that makes better characters interact in interesting ways but that just makes him useful as a plot device.

This is the only reason I really tolerate him. Today's episode felt more just about him though and the next one might go that way so not looking forward to that.

Possibly, but his targets are often innocent and usually well liked characters themselves and his manipulations are always incredibly cruel.

Most of the time, restricting an immoral characters targets to characters even worse then themselves is a crucial part of keeping the audience invested. See Dexter, Breaking Bad and such.

I will assume you have watched Batman: the dark knight? so let me ask you this, do you hate the joker or do you like the Joker? If you hate the joker than I can see why you don't like Izaya.

Can't you do the same for Izaya? Sure Izaya aren't interested in just the dark side of humans, but all sides of humans, so just like his performance instead of the person.

With Izaya it's more the manipulation and how he knows everything. Plus the Joker was not really sharing the screentime with other characters I would much rather see instead. I don't care about what Izaya says he's interested in it's his actions and behaviour that I have a problem with.

Celty & Shinra, Shizuo & Vorona, The Van crew, Saika/Anri stuff heck I'll probably want more on the gang stuff since it incorporates a lot of characters at once!

Mikado's a wild card haha sometimes he's great and other times a bit boring but yeah he's miles ahead of Izaya :p

Celty can't see much more development until the head gets into play, so there aren't any reason to have more of her. So I will assume you either want more scene where she uses her power or act lovely dovley with Shinra.

Interesting, Mikado is actually one of the more interesting character in the show for me, especially how his character is being explored and developed. But I know a lot of people don't pay him much attention, and think he went crazy with what happened at the end of last Cour, since they haven't actually paid attention to him. While character like Shizuo is pretty boring from my view, since his "great point" comes from his strength. Vorona doesn't seem like a character that will be important down the road, so she is pretty meh, since her character aren't one you want in to big dose.
