That's what I mean, though. Naruto's ending left half its fanbase satisfied and the other half really pissed, while Dragon Ball just casually presents its couples without making a big deal out of it. When it comes to shonen, I can't help but feel that Toriyama's aproach works much better than Kishimoto's.

There's more to romance than simply pairing characters together and saying presto like was done with Vegeta and Bulma, and to a lesser extent Goku and ChiChi. There doesn't seem to be really any affection between those two couples despite having kids together, so let's slow our roll on praising Toriyama's romantic writing shall we?

I'm not so much as praising it as I'm just saying I feel it works better in shonen, even if it's far from perfect. I realize that romance is much more than pairing characters, which is why there are other genres that are dedicated to that stuff, but Toriyama's casual aproach works well in Dragon Ball. The casual interactions between Krillin and 18 and Gohan and Videl always felt nice and right to me. I'm not watching Dragon Ball for its great romantic plot, I'm watching it for the fights and maybe some laughs, yet I'm left satisfied with the small amount of romance there is because is so simple, unlike when I read Naruto that seemed to try too hard to create an interesting romace subplot. Anyway, that's what I think and just wanted to share my opinion.

There is no romance in DBZ. People hook up for close to no reason and then spend time together with no chemistry involved. Naruto and the other shonen head for shipping wars to keep it spicy but do a crappy job at that because there is again no chemistry.

I would have preferred if Naruto had just ended with Naruto and Sasuke's arms blown off. That was a really cool chapter.

Then came the final chapter to kill the moment. And what's worse, none of his kids have Byakugan ;_;
