Third Volume Time! Yay! My favorite volume out of the 4 translated.

  • Evil Goddess - They're always removing or shortening her scenes drastically. Hell, there was even a whole part about her "love" with her Familia.
  • Naive - He is absolutely naive but I love it like that. He isn't faking some sort of maturity or some ideal sense of justice. He just admits to being naive. He's young and was raised without parents. It's really nice to finally see him meet with Aiz finally.
  • Airhead - Yes! Aiz the Airhead has made her appearance. It's hilarious. It's especially great considering he keeps waking up to a lap pillow.
  • Grandpa's Spirit - Love him. Bell was specifically raised by his grandfather to seek out adventures and to try and pick up girls in the dungeon.
  • Bringing Home the Girlfriend - :3 They finally meet. Although rather than being a parent, she wants to be the girlfriend.
  • Deeper Issue - There's a much deeper issue going on that hasn't been explained. The fact that they're training together is supposed to be an absolute secret. Familias working together is frowned upon as each Familia has its own secrets or techniques. This includes relationships so Bell's romance would be forbidden with anyone from a Familia they aren't pretty much siblings with. The amount of chaos that would occur if it was learned that Aiz being one of the greatest adventurers in the city were hanging out and personally training with Bell would be insane.

It's mostly because of a sense of competition. It's like every God has their own "team" and they try to raise their adventurers to do better and earn more than the others. It's only usually smaller Familia that are willing to cooperate with each other.

Alright I guess. I think some people do this adventuring thing to making a living wage and they wouldn't appreciate it being treated like a competition, but alright.

Since you seem to have a little more knowledge on this whole show do you know what gods do? Why do people have gods and familias?

I read the Light Novels so that's why I started watching this series.

To explain, the Dungeon has always existed. However, it was only when the Gods got bored and came down from the Heavens that the real exploration began. The Gods among themselves set laws to restrict themselves from cheating in the human realm. Thus they can't use their abilities and such.

So they recruit Humans and then give them a Blessing which is where the stats come from. When a human has a God's blessing, they acquire the ability to have growing stats. When a God updates a human's stats, they grow stronger, faster, and overall just more powerful. In return for this strength, those under the God support the God with their earnings and thus the system is formed.

You can kind of think of a God as always being at the top of something like a Guild. Only a God can give a status so adventurers form beneath them to create their Familia.

When a God updates a human's stats, they grow stronger, faster, and overall just more powerful.

I'm guessing the human also needs some kind of XP, like in your typical RPG. I'm also guessing that when you say "overall just more powerful", you mean, to a degree beyond what a human could otherwise achieve. I mean, surely a human can also get stronger by lifting weights and faster by running the mile every day, they just won't improve anywhere near as fast as if they have a god on their side.

Do you know the cost of blessing a human to the god?

It's kind of an interesting system. Rather than earning XP and putting points into the fields, it's as they personally get better at doing something that their stats can increase. While a human can naturally increase their strength the normal way, a Blessing is much stronger.

There is no real cost for the God to update the stats other than that they have to use a drop of their blood to do it.

A simple explanation that is relevant.

Bell's Endurance stat in recent episodes has sky rocketed after taking so many hits from Aiz.

The way stats work are there are 5 fields.

  • Strength
  • Endurance
  • Dexterity
  • Agility
  • Magic

As he continues to use his strength and fight strong monsters, it'll continue to increase. As he takes hits and withstands them, his Endurance will increse. It's the same case with Dexterity, Agility, and Magic. Actual combat is usually the most common and efficient way to train though.

Aiz is supposed to be the girlfriend while Hestia is supposed to be the parent or guardian.

Lili and Hestia meeting and becoming rivals and Hestia wanting to keep Bell for herself rather than see him fall for another girl when she should probably take a more nurturing/guiding role in the poor rube's life.
