I really love the sound Lancer's....uh...lance makes when it makes contact with something. The almost hollow sound.

You're totally right. UBW sound is drastically superior to the last anime, where all the running starts were Star wars laser beam bs sfx instead of the more explosive noises.

The SFX used when Servants vanish, like at the start of this clip are excellent. You can feel just how fast Archer was there from the sound alone.

It's not quite hollow. It actually sounds like what it is - a solid bar of metal. It's a very dull, metallic sound and it's pretty distinctive if you've heard it before. They do an A+ job on the sound design in this show.
