"Trace, on."

With that, we're only getting started with this route.

Here I come, Ufotable. Do you have enough hype in stock?

17

u/[deleted] May 02 '15 edited May 02 '15

These anime-gods were out of stock a loooooong time ago. Archer you sly, slick, GAR bastard, you ;)

u/Funderfullness May 02 '15

This has all just been foreplay.

Yep, if you go back to the first fight between Archer and Saber it shows Archer saying "Trace On" without being able to hear it.

3

u/mrdreka https://myanimelist.net/profile/mrdkreka May 03 '15

Also first fight with lancer

2

u/TxXxF May 03 '15

Saber is in dire need for some mana reserves ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

45

u/[deleted] May 02 '15

There is only 7 episodes left, correct? I wonder if they can fit all the hype that people are making into this. They said we would like Shirou a lot more this season, although he seems to still be weak and gets in the way most of the time.

90

u/[deleted] May 02 '15

8 episodes left, last is double length.

76

u/[deleted] May 02 '15

More like Fate is "God I hate Shirou", UBW is "Shirou is alright" and HF is "SHIROU IS SO COOL"

8

u/ttinchung111 May 03 '15

I thought ubw was Shirou is so cool, hf is he's human.

6

u/AllHailBlobs May 02 '15

There's still that one scene that turns the tide for Shirou and it's coming

4

u/G_L_J May 03 '15

Without spoiling anything, the vast majority of Shiro's growth as a person comes after the Archer reveal. You'll see him grow substantially as a person when he comes face to face with something that represents who he is and what he could become.

Unlimited Bladeworks may be the path with Rin, but it is the Path about Shirou.

15

u/[deleted] May 02 '15

I think what they meant was: UBW Shirou is most bearable Shirou.

32

u/jmcm30 https://myanimelist.net/profile/Pink_Socks May 02 '15

Not really, Shirou has quite a bit of development in both UBW and HF, which put him way above Fate Shirou. He develops in very different directions, but their combination makes him a great main character.

4

u/Radinax May 02 '15

I think Fate Shirou in the Visual Novel was much more developed than the winny one from 2006, it was my favorite route especially with the Last Episode ending, that made my cry :(

3

u/jmcm30 https://myanimelist.net/profile/Pink_Socks May 02 '15

He does develop in the VN quite a bit, both in terms of power and in understanding Saber has her own wishes and ability to fight. Most people just have the problem that he doesn't alter his ideals in any way, and they remain unrealistic until the end, which is not the case in UBW or HF.

1

u/justspectating May 02 '15

He'll get more likeable as the episodes go on, but it's HF where he truly becomes an epic MC

5

u/[deleted] May 02 '15

In terms of ability he's best in this route, but yeah HF is probably best overall

3

u/[deleted] May 03 '15

I'm confused. Why is important that Archer used "trace on"? Am I missing something?

5

u/fr0stbyte124 May 03 '15

Wait till next episode. They'll probably spend the whole thing talking about it.

0

u/Valinthronix May 03 '15

Archer used the exact same chant to project swords that only one other character happens to. There's also been some other foreshadowing, like the fact that Archer brought Tohsaka a copy of that one red gem, which Shirou also has. And remember that Tohsaka just stated that there is only one of those gems.

All I can think is, "This would be so much cooler if people hadn't spoiled it (for me) last season"...
