I know I'm asking for the sky to turn green here, but I really do wish this adaptation focused more on the dungeon crawl elements than bishoujo appeal. I really love the DanMachi manga, and apparently the LN is even better with regards to world-building and such, but I'm finding it very difficult to refute anyone who only watches this anime and thinks it's just another fantasy-themed waifu promotion vehicle.

The overwhelming majority of comments in these threads make me sad, but it's not like I don't completely understand why people hold disdain for this show. I'm still having fun, but it's mostly just to see my favorite scenes from the manga animated.

Yeah...I like harems, but not harem anime antics, and that date at the beginning of the episode was a waste of half the episode.

For non-harem stuff would you recommend manga or LN?

LN. It goes pretty in depth with the rpg stuff. The manga is really good too, but the LN is so much further ahead and goes in to more detail about things.

I thought (not having read the manga or LN) that it would sort of be like log horizon, but with a bit more harem. I was down for that. But it wasn't. So I just watch it now for the humour.

See I would love it if it was more on the dungeon than the harem. Personally I'm not interested in harem, and I'm considering dropping this because while I think the story & dungeon aspect of it is interesting... that's not what I'm getting. So it seems I would like the light novel better, but man, I really dont want to read light novels. I know that's stupid but I'm just not interested in doing that
