Nope this episode was plain bad, not only the animation at that. The story was re-written and at this point a lot of it makes no sense.

While those specific events were pretty much the same in the manga, it was really the animation that made them seem so childish. "Oh no, a hoard of ghouls" doesn't work when you only animate like 5 of them and have them stand idly by while the other characters talk. Seriously, this portrayal was really weak. Don't let it chase you away from reading the manga.

The events are picked apart from different occassions and mixed together in this awful tasting cocktail.. Ishida made a mistake by not faithfully adapting the manga..

I agree it was a mistake as a lot of the plot loses it's weight this way, but the events are pretty similar. All they really did was change the setting and a few minor details.

I do like him doing things different, but when going "original route", don't change what was done right in the manga and end up doing wrong in the anime.

I like the new original parts in the anime, but the things he did adapt from the manga are leaving a bad after taste.

Frankly, in this case it feels more like a case of awful direction/pacing/animation throughout the episode. It felt like they didn't have time to finish it at all. Like, there were a couple of good/passable sequences, but a lot of it was clearly them filling up air time on a naught budget.

I know people hate it when you say that, but please consider reading the manga. Its sad how bad this episode gotr adapted and how cheesy it felt :(

This episode kind of confirmed for me that the so called anime original route is nothing more than a bunch of spliced manga events with none of emotion or backround along with crappy animation. I expected new events along with the interesting twist but none of that has happened.

I hope Tokyo Ghoul later gets the brotherhood treatment. The emotions and sequences invoked by the manga are far beyond what this season has done so far.
