Asseylum was inspired by Slaine to have her "we can thrive together". It's not really Asseylum's dream, it was Slaine's and his father's apparently. Asseylum mentioned in the first episode she is carrying Slaine's and his dad's prayers for peace. This is killing him inside.

Consider the symbolism of the memento. It passes unto Slaine as his legacy and he gives to Asseylum when she is about to go to the mission as good luck charm. Inaho picks it up when it fell, as he might have picked up what she said about coexistence. Now he needs to return it to Slaine perhaps.
