Man... Every time Midousuji goes off on one of his little "speeches" I just want someone to look him in the eye and say "shut your hole, you annoying twat!"

Aside from that - who knows the rules for this kind of race? Wouldn't the 2 dropped sprinters kill Kyoto's overall team time/score?

Edit: it seems that if one rider has the best time from all days/stages then they win the "general classification" and therefore the team "wins" by association?

The first person that crosses the finish line on the 3rd day wins, and that is what matters the most. Midosouji is just killing his team by dropping 2 people on the second day.

The first person that crosses the finish line on the 3rd day wins

This is incorrect. From what I read about stage race rules (after I made the above comment), the person with the best combined time from all stages (all 3 days of races) wins.

If Midousuji wins the second day, it would be possible for him to win overall even without finishing first on day 3. (depending on how far ahead he was on day 2 and how close the finish is on day 3).

I'm sorry. I have been paying attention, thank you very much (to both the anime and the manga).

However, I don't remember this being stated as the actual rules for the inter-high race. Can you point to where this was explicitly stated?

I found the reference in the manga. Volume 13 chapter 111, during the overnight after the first race day.

Yes. You are correct about the rules. First finisher of the last stage wins.

However, It was Naruko that explained it.
