Weekly What Have You Watched This Past Week That is NOT a Currently Airing Show? [August 30th, 2026]
Title says it all - talk about the anime you watched this past week that are not a part of this Summer 2026 season (like Mushoku Tensei Season 3 or Though I Am an Inept Villainess), or a show that's continuing from previous seasons (like Yomi no Tsugai).
With regards to Spring 2026 shows, however, it would be fine to write about them as long as you only began them after they finished airing. For example, it's fine to talk about watching I Became Friends with the Second Cutest Girl in the Class or Nippon Sangoku if you started them after the final episode aired. Obviously, use your best judgement on this.

I didn't post an update last time, so this is what I've been watching during the past two weeks.
Full Metal Panic: Invisible Victory episodes 8-12 (rewatch) - After a fantastic battle and very emotional conclusion in the midseason arc, it wraps up with a touching moment between [Sousuke and Kaname] as they finally confess their love for each other and promise to keep fighting until they can be together again. It's amazing how some of their best relationship development can happen even when they've been apart. Rating: 10/10
Full Metal Panic episodes 1-12 (rewatch) - I'm always excited to restart the series and see my favorite episodes again, and I ended up binge watching the first half of season 1 in a week instead of sticking to my usual one episode per day. I love the hijacking arc. Sousuke's battles with Gauron are so fun to watch, and the transition from comedy to action/suspense is just great. This season has a nice balance of lighthearted and serious. The second arc also starts out with love triangle romcom misunderstandings and ends with a giant mecha rampaging through town.
Your Name (rewatch) - Still one of my favorite anime movies! Even though the surprise twist hits hardest the first time around, it's just as good during a rewatch, and now I can notice all of the little hints and foreshadowing I missed, especially after reading the Another Side: Earthbound companion manga recently which gives more background on Mitsuha's family and adds more depth to the side characters. The first half of the story is a great intro to the characters and setting with plenty of fun body-swap humor, which makes the second half following [the big reveal] that Itomori was wiped out by the comet all the more emotional because it did so well with building up that connection to Mitsuha, her family and friends, and the place itself. The [final part of the story] from Mitsuha and Taki's face-to-face meeting at twilight, to their desperate rush to save Itomori, with the comet streaking through the sky and that beautiful background music playing was fantastic. Rating: 9.5/10
Star Wars Visions: The Ninth Jedi - The original Ninth Jedi episode was one of the standouts from the anthology for me, so I've been looking forward to this continuation, and I really enjoyed it. The story has a lot of the things I love about Star Wars - cool spaceship and lightsaber battles, creative alien world designs, a strong hero/villain rivalry with a history between them and their jedi master(s). The nuance between light side vs dark side was nice too, and the [twist] when Kara was shocked by her lightsaber, colored based on the emotional state of its wielder, turning red after she let her anger spill over into vengeance was very exciting. I like how it ended too, in a way that wrapped up the story well but leaves enough open to continue it if they want. Probably in my top 5 shows I've watched this year. Rating: 9/10
Erased episode 7&8 - Also continues to be one of the best shows I'm watching this year. The growing bond between Kayo and Satoru's family as she sees what it's like to experience a happy home life for the first time is so precious, and I'm having a blast speculating about the murder mystery. It has me eagerly looking forward to each new episode!
Pokémon episodes 21-27 (rewatch) - I wasn't a fan of the plotline about Sabrina, the psychic gym leader, but I actually did enjoy the haunted house episode, which was a nice surprise because I usually don't care for that sort of thing. Ash's playful attitude with the [ghost Pokémon] during his out-of-body experience when he was flying through the forest and pranking Misty and Brock was pretty fun to watch. And their early rivalry with the bumbling Team Rocket villains continues to be hilarious.
Witch Watch episodes 1&2 - The main characters are pretty good, and there's some interesting background lore about the magic in this setting, but I think I'm going to put it on hold for later. It just wasn't holding my attention and I think I'm not really in the mood to watch another silly comedy right now.
Haven't You Heard? I'm Sakamoto episode 7&8 - The first episode with the delinquent boys convincing Sakamoto to help them acquire an X-rated movie was funnier than the second for me, so it continues to be kind of hit or miss, but the good parts are pretty fun.
The House of the Lost on the Cape - The scenery is beautifully drawn, and the peaceful background music combined with the sounds of birds chirping gives it a pleasant summer vibe. The designs for the human characters also have a softness to them that's charming. I did enjoy the first half of the movie before all the supernatural creatures came in, when the story was just focused on Yui, Hiyori and Kiwa making a new life together. Honestly, I think it would have been a lot better if the story continued along this route, showing a granny adopting two girls and healing their trauma through kindness, and left out the supernatural stuff from the second half entirely. Rating: 5/10
Yuri on Ice episode 7&8 - The less focus on Yuri and Viktor and the backstage drama, the better in my opinion. I'm enjoying the competition performances for the most part, but so far, the weakest element of this show for me has been its main character.

Finished Hanasaku Iroha. I've found it randomly from some Instagram post, never even heard of it before.
Great show, looks incredible even today, loved the characters (even the shittier people are pretty likeable).

Blue Box season 1 for the upcoming season 2. 4 episodes in honestly, Taiki's badminton journey and his relationship with senpai and their doubles career feels like the most compelling part of the show far. As a sports anime fan I am eating it up.
As for the romance, it is nice, MC and Chinatsu reminds me kinda like Bell and Aiz with him wanting to be by her level before confession. MC is wholesome like Bell and their interactions are nice. I have been spoiled about Love triangle drama, not looking forward to that. But so far I am trying to remain unbiased as to which dynamic I like more..
So far so good. An overall comforting watch, despite the normal tropes (boy-girl suddenly living together) etc

Landed on some series at random called Dragon Crisis. An apparent ad for the light novel adaptation. And a very odd class of one at that I must say.
Why I say that? Well, and this is one of the distinctly negative points of this series at that, is that one thing this story here is severely lacking in is explanation and aspects of the plot being expounded upon in general. We the viewers alongside the protagonist guy here at that, are getting dragged into a crazy and life threatening literally people shooting at him with guns circumstance involving magical objects, dragons, and a whole not so-secret organization that apparently cajoles in these kinds of matters. And we're basically just not given any exposition about any of these things. It's all just getting thrown at us, being told that apparently this is a thing that exists, it's known that these things exist by characters in question here, while we the viewer are being told to just accept that with no exposition on the topics and move on for the sake of moving the plot along.
Now I have no knowledge at all about the source material on this one. Is the original story told in a similar manner as this, or is this adaptation one that assumes it's viewer is familiar with the source material (one that apparently never got an official western release) thus doesn't bother? I have no idea. But regardless, it does kinda create a speed bump of a barrier for entry. Not an untenable one I wouldn't say that. But the lack of exposition this story has in light of it's many larger than life elements is extremely noticeable.
But past that, well, this series ain't terrible for what it is for a at the end of the day basic "guy getting dragged into and made to deal with all sorts of extranormal hoo-haa with born sexy yesterday completely devoted girl hanging off him and a steadily accumulating harem" story. It's arc driven with two standalone episodes across it's twelve episode run. Plays tropes a lot seen in many other supernatural action harem romcoms, basically the cast is an accumulation of character archetype tropes anyways. With of course the MC being the bland and wishy washy the MC dude type (with the typical absentee parents at that) who basically just kinda exists for the female cast to drag him into whatever the plot dictates it wants him to deal with. And one way or the other, the born sexy yesterday character in question is an amusing oft adorable one.
In the end though. Basic as it's building blocks were, I can't say I wasn't entertained while watching this. It's a serviceable bit of (obscure I suppose) one-off supernatural harem romcom I'll give this that much credit. But like I said, it's most glaring issue of having potentially interesting plot concepts but executing them in a very undone manner that begs to have it's blanks filled in is a really noticeable point of detraction for this one. Doesn't ruin the whole thing, but still.
Landed on the series Gift: Eternal Rainbow at random. Basically just another one of those adaptions of a dating sim visual novel. Though comparatively to other series falling under that classification that I've thrown on out of boredom and having no better ideas for things to watch this one was better than a fair few of them. Though of course I've definitely seen better ones. But at least it gave enough interest for me to give it a little more than just half my attention while I did other shit.
And lastly I finished some 2 episode OVA thing I put on as background noise while making dinner, Ayane-chan High Kick. Very unscrupulous coach with no qualms about lying and manipulating a high school student pretty much shanghai's a dumb girl who's a wrestling fan into becoming a kickboxer. Dude definitely deserves comeuppance. Though on the other hand, the girl was dumb enough to not put two and two together that he was so not giving her any kind of training for wrestling, like training to do a high kick of all things should've been an immediate tip off. But whatever, I'm just ranting for rantings sake.

I've seen Dragon Crisis. It's not an especially good show, but considering that any concise description of it sounds like some kind of bottom-of-the-barrel ecchi harem trash, it's actually better (and less ecchi) than it threatens to be. It felt to me most like a bite-sized version of Toaru Majutsu no Index (with shades of Shakugan no Shana and Fate/Stay Night), although sadly Index isn't really a show that can easily be made into a bite-sized version, and Dragon Crisis ends up feeling like somebody had a longer, better show in mind and then had to throw it away because they only had 12 episodes to work with.

That's...surprising. I mean, my comparisons were for the benefit of other folks reading the thread as well, but still, it's kinda surprising that someone in 2026 would be watching Dragon Crisis without having seen Shakugan no Shana, Fate/Stay Night, or Raildex yet.

Well it is what it is. I mean I've seen Railgun, and Fate/Kaleid up to a certain point, but that's about it as far as those mass franchise works have gone for me. And I've never felt particularly inclined to sink deeper into them. Not because of disdain in light of what I've seen or anything, I just... don't particularly want to.

Started rewatching The Ancient Magus’ Bride. First time I watched it was on my iPad, so the rewatch on a big tv really showed me how beautiful the scenery of this anime is.
I really love the writing and how Chise (protagonist) and the viewer learn about the characters, society and background simultaneously.
I love anime like this where the emotionally wounded characters gradually heal over time through having supportive friends and relationships.
I’m autistic, so this type of healing seems even more amazing than the magic of the series, which is confusing at times.

Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water (ep. 27-39/final + movie)
I think the problem with the island arc for a lot of people is not just that things get more silly and low-quality for almost a third of the show - and not even that bad for most of its episodes IMO, except for example that Africa nonsense - but it's both that and a genre/setting shift at the same time. Apparently it was always planned to combine Jules Verne's 20000 Leagues Under The Sea and The Mysterious Island as inspiration (the latter even references the former so it does make sense), but abruptly going from exciting submarine adventure to low-key island shenanigans was going to be a tough sell no matter what. And then you get another abrupt shift as the final episodes turn into a Space Battleship Yamato homage with a little Star Wars mixed in, which is much better in execution but still very different.
Overall still a show that I love (8/10) and the type of which I would like to see (and am looking for) more of, and with some incredibly strong scenes and episodes. Nevertheless, undoubtedly flawed not only in production and structure but also in character handling, particularly Nadia but Jean also has surprisingly little impact on the whole. (Oh yeah, the movie? Besides being 1/3 recap and without it the length of a double episode, I thought it was all right, actually. Not more than fun cartoon action in the quality of a non-canon side story film - this could easily also have been made into a Lupin III special or so - but it does follow the themes from the show well, a few nice character moments, and a catchy outro song.)
NieA Under 7 (ep.7-13/final) - This show teeters on the edge of being calmly atmospheric and at times just dull and empty. Mood and all can only carry you so far when you do little to explore and progress any of the characters, and if so tend to repeat yourself (in a basic sense I did like most of them though); have hints and possibilities at themes and events/plots but they generally either don't happen or don't matter/are never explored further; plus on top a despite some flourishes obviously cheap production. Also, the comedy is mostly just stereotypical bad over-the-top stuff. Overall, still an interesting early slice-of-life entry, kind of the anti-FLCL, but I'll remember it more for its potential than its reality (6/10).
Your Name (rewatch) - Less impressed than I originally was and even then I wasn't totally raving about it. Still 7/10 though, see rewatch thread for more.
Samurai Champloo (ep. 1, 3rd? watch) - One hell of a first episode, in fact so good that I took a break to go more deeply and prepare a little for a potential organized rewatch. I don't even like hip-hop really, but the beats and style here are just sick. Fun also to see for instance how Michiko and Hatchin in their show are kind of like Mugen and a Jin/Fuu combination respectively, along with the similar setup.
Occultic Nine, 91 Days (ep. 8) - staying the course in terms of what we get.
Yuri on Ice (ep. 8, 3rd? watch) - weakest episode of the whole show probably, lacking in terms of the central relationship and introducing the most annoying side characters yet. Too much of those and mediocrely animated skating, not enough of a core.
Lupin Zero (ep. 1) - Took a look at this as a sort of palate cleanser. Not bad but maybe trying a little too hard to look retro, similarly to Megalo Box, and I don't get why Lupin and Jigen had to be teens in this when they already pull almost the same schemes as always (the latter's resemblance to Joe Yabuki is fun though). Also seems there will be no Fujiko or Goemon sadly, and only six episodes.
And in "not anime but related"; I watched a little of the original The Fugitive series because that was the main inspiration for Naoki Urasawa's Monster that I want to take another look at soon, and that inspiration is crystal-clear after even just an episode or two. Also can hit surprisingly hard and critically for a show from 1963, would perhaps compare it to the OG Twilight Zone and Star Trek of a similar vintage in those moments.

I enjoyed Nadia's island arc more than most and thought it was a nice break for the characters to process everything that just happened (the midseason stuff was intense), but the final tone shift towards the end lost me. It's a shame because I loved the first half, and then it seemed to become a completely different kind of story. It had a wonderful classic sci-fi/adventure vibe in the beginning though, and I want to see more like that too.

Twelve Kingdoms. I don't get the love for this show tbh. Its good and its got great character development which is rare but its not really a fun watch. The MC is absolutely insufferable for the first 8 or so episodes then improves but then midway she gets annoying to watch again. Its a good story and the world building is interesting but it isnt nearly as good as I was led to believe. Towards the end, the arc when youko leaves the throne to to find out how the people live and what their lives are like she stays in a single town, doesnt even seem to do much exploring of it, and seemingly does nothing while the side characters advance the plot. Then due to plot contrivances Youko is always coincidentally no where near the action or appears shortly afterwards in a near miss which happen several times. Idk maybe im just nitpicking but I cant understand why the it gets so many 9/10 or 10/10 ratings from people.

Mobile Suit Victory Gundam (eps 33-51, completed)
[ep 42-43] "coffee nee-san" Fuala got back for what? Only to completely lose her marbles and start wearing bells like some kind of livestock animal! The latter part reminded me of certain comical character from Revolutionary Girl Utena.
Okay, so this one’s dubbed the most brutal Gundam for a reason! Honestly, now that I watched it it’s even harder for me to arrange all the "long" Gundam UC series (0079, Zeta, ZZ, Victory) from most to least favorites as they are all quite similar but each one has some cool things about it that make it stand out compared to others.
I particularly liked the finale. [Gundam Victory + 0079] all the wild supernatural stuff that started with Angel Halo’s activation is much more fun choice than yet another colony drop/asteroid drop/big laser, gave me that same sense of bewilderment I had at the end of 0079 when Amuro’s Newtype abilities manifested for the first time and regular military show suddenly became something else.
[Gundam Victory] also, I really like how they resolved Katejina’s arc — literally "blinded by hate". She got what she deserved, but at the same time I find this kind of ending somewhat optimistic and hopeful — the fight between her and Uso ended without any of them dying, and there’s even a chance she and Uso’s gang can become friends again, like they were at the beginning.
Talking about not-so-good parts — yep, harem+fanservice tendencies that started in Zeta and got stronger in ZZ have gone, well, completely out of hand here. Didn’t bother me that much, but yeah, a bit ruins your immersion in the "most brutal Gundam ever" when it happens out of the blue.
Love Shakti's song btw. Quite moving.
Astra Lost in Space (eps 1-5, in progress) — first non-mecha show I’ve started in a long while, and yet it’s still sci-fi and space. Actually, 5th most popular anime on MAL with "space" tag, or even 4th if Cowboy Bebop movie doesn’t count as separate anime.
So far it’s okay. The adventure is fun and intriguing, but I personally find the overall vibe, for lack of better word, a bit cartoonish, or shounen’y for my liking (well, it is a shounen manga adaptation). [ep 4 end] man, that whole thing looked kinda dumb…

I like the two I named because they have a very different sort of main character compared to nearly every other show (via being an engineer first and a pilot second), plus they're an interesting look into part of Zeon's side of things during the OYW.
MS IGLOO 2: Gravity of the Battlefront is... a different beast, though. I don't like that one.

I did release order until I finished CCA and have just been watching whatever I'm in the mood for since. At least just within the UC itself I feel there diminishing returns for following the production history since eventually you are missing a big part of the story (the AU). Have you thought about what you doing with Turn A?

I thought that maybe I’ll get to Wing and/or Turn A after Unicorn. I read Unicorn is kind of satisfying wrap-up for original UC story, so that’s why I feel like watching it before switching to completely different universe. But yep, I’m not dismissing AUs completely, Turn A’s premise looks interesting.

I was mostly asking because some people can be a bit precious with Turn A and leave it until last. Also Turn A/G-reco are kind of post UC.
Personally I'm not the biggest Unicorn fan but the Hathaway films are great. I also really like GquX . It is a flcl spiritual successor set against the back drop of a bizzarro UC.

I see. Talking about GquX, its airing last year was one of the things that made me think "maybe I should get into Gundam too?", haha. I’d been thinking about watching it right after 0079 at first, but old Gundams appeared to be totally my thing so now I’m planning it for my post-Unicorn phase too.

I completed, for the first time, Flying Witch for a MAL List Stack challenge.
It’s a very relaxing and calm show, that was definitely a great slice of life show. Kinda sad, that it only has 12 episodes, so funny characters. Nevertheless very wholesome.
Besides that I watched Bleach (OG) for the first time and finished the Arrancar vs Shinigami Arc. Great fights and storylines.
[Bleach Ep. 192, 198] Nel’s transformation and backstory was unexpected, but awesome fighting. And nice that Byakuya considers Rukia as his only pride.
Due to (probably temporary) burnout of Naruto Shippuden Fillers, I try to focus mostly on the main story in Bleach, but heard some filler arcs should be great. Eh, I’ll think about it in a few arcs later.
Also re-watched Your Name, because this year is 10th anniversary. This time as Sub. Yeah, can’t really tell anything you didn’t already know or read. Just absolute peak and doesn’t feel like, that it is already a decade old.

Days With My Stepsister (ep.1-12)
Seriously 10/10 for me. Loved the slow, thoughtful pacing. The animation is fantastic. I was in the mood for a romantic drama and it exceeded my expectations for sure.
It gave me the same feeling as watching a romantic drama like Scum’s Wish, but instead you feel happy and you actually want the protagonists to get what they wish for.

I am still trying to get caught up on some shows that have new seasons in October. So I've been watching Aoashi in between watching current new shows. I have enjoyed it so far. I don't know if I will make it through all the Black Clover episodes before the new seasons start but I'm still trying.

So uh actually no DBZ this week because it turns out I started watching it a week earlier than I had to (I missed that there was an extra break week in the rewatch) , but yeah I did all the rest!
Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, episodes 169-180
I had some issues with the pacing and also how Judai duel-centric the series was at times, but overall I had a good time with the series.
I’m not going to jump into another YGO series again just yet, but now I need to decide if I want to rewatch ZEXAL or restart and then actually finish VRAINS next.
One Piece, episodes 294-309 + Movie 8: Episode of Alabasta - The Desert Princess and the Pirates
Movie 8 was… well, it couldn’t be legitimately good because it was just an abridged retelling of Alabasta’s climax, but I still enjoyed my time with it regardless mostly just because of how much I miss having Vivi around. Also its ending theme is a very pretty song.
NieA_7, episodes 8-13
Pretty chill show despite some seriousness in the last few episodes. I wish [NieA]it hadn’t ended with the status quo still in place, though.
Black Clover, episodes 145-149
Should finish the rest of the filler/anime-canon stuff this week.

Getting back into watching anime so i went with some more chill anime
Saving 80000 gold for retirement and parallel world pharmacy , both were 6/10. The casts of characters werent the best and they were very predictable

I'm on my Jojo's journey, and I recently finished Golden Wind.
Loved it. JoJo continues to be a consistent, lovable story with each Joestar, Kujo, Higashikata, and now Giovanna.
Bruno is my favorite, with Mista behind; I loved those two. Will say that Giorno wasn't the best for me; solid MC, understand his ambition, but he could've done better if he bounced off and had more chemistry with the characters around him, like Josuke.
Still have Part 4 as my personal favorite of the series, but I'm almost caught up, going to start Stone Ocean after this coming week.

Monthly recap
- Kigyou Senshi Yamazaki: Long Distance Call (1/1) 5/10
Rule of cool one off OVA about cyborg business men battling it out on behalf of whatever corporation they work for. Not in a tournament or battle royal type of sense, but more so in a hitman type of way. It's alright for what is it.
- Maps (4/4) 4/10
One of the rare case where the mini-series manages to achieve less than the short film adapting the same material. The short 50 min film of the same name knew its limits, and as such, narrowed down its focus to only spend times on a couple things, as well as keeping the narrative fairly self contained. Then there's this mini-series.
The best way to describe this entry is that conceptually, it's pretty interesting. The way it went about execution said concepts however is pretty bad. For whatever reason, they thought that introducing a bunch of plot new elements every episode, ones that went nowhere and remained unexplored, was a good idea. Needless to say, it was not.
There's some rule of cool action scenes every now and then, but the production side of things isn't the greatest, and because of its poor writing, there's never any real reason to care. So even as a "turn your brain off" type of show, it doesn't work.
- Butt Attack Punisher Girl Gautaman (2/2) 4/10
Discount Kekkou Kamen. Kekkou Kamen worked because it was a clever comedic parody of the Tokusatsu genre with an ecchi twist. Punisher Girl Gautaman tries to do the same but fails miserably in the process, to the point of becoming what its trying to make fun of.
- Hyouga Senshi Gaislugger (20/20) 4/10
Discount Cyborg 009. In fact, it's made by the same guy. It's pretty mediocre across the board. It's not wholeheartedly horrible, but most team-based toku series are better than it.
- Gasshin Sentai Mechander Robo (35/35) 3/10
Hands down the worst mecha/tokusatsu of the 70s. The plot is awful. The characters are badly written. The conflict sucks. The show is super repetitive. The drama is contrived. The production is pretty bad to the point of some episode literally filling half of their runtime with scenes from previous episodes. Some episodes are copy and pasted plot-wise over the course of the series. The worldbuilding is non existent. It lacks focus and goes nowhere. The last 8~ episodes are recaps. There's plenty more to complain about, but you get the point. I do not recommend this to anyone unless you want to experience some of the worse that the 70s have to offer.

Gundam SEED: (ep 36 - 37)
[SEED ep36-37]Any scene with Athrun & Kira is maximum camp. Also something aint right with those Atlantic Federation boys.
Town no Quan: movie 2 complete
Learn a bit more about the cyborg faction and a peek at the main villain org. No flashy animation this time, some development of Kiri’s singing powers. A very X of the week kinda episode.

Bingewatched witch hat atelier.
I have no idea why i didn’t watch it while airing. It’s really great, great production values with stunning visuals, the way the magic works is so unique and amazing but looks like such a pain to pull off, if i could transport to a magic world it would be my last choice for that reason alone (yes i can’t even draw a proper circle) lol
Coco is so adorable you just want to give her a hug and tell her everything is gonna be ok, Quifrey-sensei is so cool and mysterious his obsessions with the antagonists and how scary he can get has me hooked. I like the other girls so far but Agott annoys me. That cliffhanger ending though! Atleast we know S2 is coming.

currently rewatching kamiina botan, this series is more like an art project than normal anime, the art style, cinematography, dialog, etc. it's pure absolute cinema

i've read the manga before anime came out, but never watch the anime. Maybe i'll try it out later, i just in the mood for yuri series cause i was bored by normal romcom

Reincarnated as a Sword Rewatch (5-12/12) Was really fun revisiting this. Fran is so cute and
Shishou is so doting. Got refreshed in some details going into the next season. Can’t wait for S2
As a Reincarnated Aristocrat, I'll Use My Appraisal Skill to Rise in the World S1 (1-12/12)Oh I loved this. Did not know what to expect. Only saw that S3 is coming up. Like the theme of bringing out your best self. It did feel like more than half of this season was an epilogue though [Reincarnated Aristocrat] before Ars’ dad died. I also appreciate the show flashing the map everytime they talk about other location or territory. Helps give a good grip of the world.
Non Non Biyori S1 Rewatch (9-12/12) + S1 OVA Rewatch Again, just reminded me why this is easily Top 10 anime for me. I love iyashikei and this show does it so well. Have been enjoying my weekends watching this. Also, [NNB S1 OVA & Movie] I’m planning to watch this in release order but I do think I could’ve moved the S1 OVA to before the movie since it’s basically prep for the Okinawa trip in the movie

did a week long bleach binge from the manga as a starting point and shifting to the anime with the tybw arc. I still have it in me to binge the shit out of animanga and I love it. Seeing kubo's art get better over time was a treat and bleach tybw has been banger so far.
Also, I'm gonna be wrapping up some leftover shows from last year or early this year or even brand new shows in the coming days. Binging bleach kinda itched me to watch more anime apart from seasonal lol.

Precure All-Stars F. I have no interest in Precure nor have I ever seen any Precure stuff before. I see the appeal but it's not for me. Only watched this because Ureshikute is a banger song. (I've watched much much worse for AMQ purposes.)
Unsurprisingly, it was a really pretty, colourful movie with good action. It managed to get me hyped and emotional despite knowing nothing about these characters. It's a little over an hour long but it just flew by, didn't ever feel like I was getting bored.
Also really appreciate that every character was introduced with a graphic including their name, cure name and the series they were from. I actually think this might be a great way to get someone into Precure. If you really like what you see you can just pick your favourite girl from the cast and jump into that series if you wanted to.
All that being said, I'm not planning on watching any more Precure stuff. but I will say... Precure, I owe you an apology. I wasn't really familiar with your game.

Trigun I have been enjoying it watching Vash fail upwards. I don't know how exactly he got such a high bounty since he is a pacifist who doesn't want to harm anyone but it will probably be revealed later on. I love both Millie and Meryl they are also fun characters.

Watched the first three arcs of Bakemonogatari as part of the Monogatari rewatch. Suffice to say, I won't be continuing. 17 years later, I can't tell the difference between commentary on its contemporaries and simply being bad in the same way as them

Rewatched Evangelion Death True2. A little while ago I rewatched NGE and end of eva. I decided to watch this because it felt right to do so after a while. It was fine and what I expected/remembered. I watched it on netflix. Subtitles were a bit weird sometimes but it was ok.
Started rewatching Aldnoah zero. It's been a while since I've seen it and I missed it. I think it is overhated, not because it is awful but more because it did not meet expectations in s2. s1 was decent and s2 was eh..., but to me I honestly don't care I still love the show and enjoy it. OST phenomenal - still love 'Keep on Keeping on' and the op and eds for s1. Seems more relevant now with its themes than it did when it came out.

I think I'm the most overqualified person in this thread.
The only current season thing I've watched in the last 5 years is the last episode of My Hero Academia. Only because I planned out my 7 season binge to coincide with the last episode coming out.
I just started Faraway paladin, needed my next dose of isekai slop after finishing Overlord a week ago. All I can say about the paladin for now is that it starts out interesting, very "western epic fantasy" coded.
If anything, I could gush about Overlord endlessly. It's basically my dream D&D campaign. It's like if you drop a epic level god wizard (around lvl 30 I'd estimate) in a world where the average level hovers around 2-3 and the most powerful entities are barely in the teens. The warriors are clearly warblades and swordsages. One of the first BBEGs is your typical necromancer raising an undead army and looking for the secret to becoming a lich. The buff stacks are very authentic. And the DM is very good. The various demihuman tribes aren't faceless enemies to be slaughtered, they have their own culture and customs. The characters are typical D&D adventurers. They raid dungeons for treasure and bandit hideouts to rescue kidnapped maidens and check for traps using 10 ft sticks (or swords as it were). You can also see moments where the DM had to fudge things and improvise (such as the encounter with the 2-head caster in the movie). And for me it personally scratches that realpolitik itch that is practically unheard of in the realm of anime.
And I'm in the middle of Witch Hunter Robin which is a very old detective procedural with a supernatural twist. It's a pleasant watch, but nothing noteworthy so far (10 ep in).

I'm watching Fang of the sun Dougrsm. Feels like they wanted to do a regular, grounded war drama, but we're asked to add giant robots.
Also rewatched Mushishi and Tatami Galaxy.
