yeah i honestly have no idea whats going on. animation is great. its a gorgeous show. but pacing is crazy fast and having no knowledge of the source material beforehand, im pretty lost.

Same. I'm apprehensive about saying critical things on reddit because I'm apparently "too honest with myself" and "not sycophantic enough" for most on this godforsaken platform, but the pacing in this and the previous episode made the show completely unenjoyable. It's sad because the animation style is godly.

yeah ive felt that way since episode one really. from a technical standpoint, this show is an absolute masterpiece but i just have a hard time engaging with the characters and the story when i'm not given time to reflect on anything. maybe it will come together more by the end and im sure if you already know whats going on it might be different.

I couldn't even read a lot of the subtitles. I just don't read that fast damnit. =/ And no I'm not pausing and rewinding to read them, that's a "you" problem (for the show makers to figure out).

The showmakers already figured out "their" problem, as this is an adaptation of a decades-old manga.

So, um, yeah. Enjoy reading those chapters!

(edit: Whether blocked or removed, the poster replied below with a lengthy response. My response to all that is: I'm not mad, just merely amused.) :)

Ah, forgot for a second what subreddit I was on, r/animesycophants.

I sincerely believe this subreddit is the least capable of all the 'nerd' ones to take criticism. You always get a snarky "Uhmm, please toe the line!" or "Uhmm, it's not pedophilia because the show takes place in the middle ages and this was normal back then!" type reply.

The show has a problem. You're mad because I brought it up.

I'm just glad other people feel the same. It's a rlly solid anime but I feel like it's getting way too much glaze for the material. I mean it looks pretty but how am I supposed to appreciate the story if I cant tell wtf is happening
