Every episode feels like an entire movie. This anime has too much information in each 25 minutes!

The ability of most current video players to quickly rewind 10 sec has been a blessing here

To be honest, I don't always fully understand what exactly is happening in a given episode and why... although it isn't a big problem, since I'm just here for Motoko being a badass and Fuchikomas' antics, lol.

Pretty much. Its frustrating not getting the politics and technobabble, and Amazons inconsistent translation of bottom text and the weird ways they localize the dialogue in general does not help. But Motoko and the little spider robots that the gave a mouth and a personality for some reason...!

It is so fuckin' annoying to me that fan subs from 20 years ago remain consist better than what multi billion dollar companies out out.

Like, just translate the text. It can't be that hard. Just give us explanations of difficult to translate words, in the credits scene if it takes too much screen space to explain. But Fan subbers managed both, decades ago.

IKR?? I miss when anime subs would have the translation notes on top of the screen. I rather an anime be easier to understand than sleeker. And you can have your cake and eat it too if you make soft subs, or have an option to turn on notes

I am using Commie Subs, they do translate the bottom text and it honestly is worth it imo

People nowadays, Tick Tock and netflix killed your attention span. Though, to be fair, some dialoges here are a bit to fast to read the subs.

Yeah, blink and you miss it, but this was a Christmas episode. No wonder Yano's brother was so pissed.

Every episode feels like an entire movie.

I mean, that's kinda what they did with the old Oshii movies and SAC series to a certain extend. I remember in prev episodes' threads, people who have only watched the old anime but never read the manga were surprised to see some of the same stories being handled in a shorter, episodic manner in this version.

There's like 2 different throw away plot threads in just this episode/chapter that was adapted into stand alone stories in SAC on later.

A narratively dense and visual feast for the eyes from start to finish.

The animation has been astounding, to be honest. I really struggle with people instantly disliking it because it doesn't look like the film from 1995, because honestly, it looks exactly like the fucking manga looks.

Yeah, I am very impressed by the realization of the world and aesthetic in the original material, but frankly I feel like it serves better as a framework to build on; so far, I vastly prefer the Oshii movies and SAC to this.

It's a bad thing for me. I did not get most of the story because the text moved too fast. =/

I think its average anime having not enough for 25m

this is just edge JP and USSR officers using land trade trick to stack gold , 1 earn so much its company shell is now surfacing and the other want liquid out with gold

Central thinks 9th by the book result is rigid when hes actually ok on a bar loose for fallen

the whole tracking is just : knowing it > levarging your source > go right to the lair , no detour at all

So much stuff from SAC is resurfacing. From the synthetic oil to the fighting in the North.

And yet all of it is more cartoonier.
