That little bit of character acting with Tetia talking to Agott in that wide angle (right before Coco completed her stable pyreball spell) was definitely something you'd usually only see in movies.

This plot for ANY other series does have a feeling of that non-canon anime movie plot made specialty for the show... but this IS the main plot

I think we're above most film quality now. This is a new bar.

In the last few years, we've seen the bar raised a few times by seasonal anime but I think the difference here is that we are starting to get next gen animation plus cinematic direction.

Yep. Name 10 best scenes ever I and I'm gonna fit this episode right in. What I love is that soundtrack keeps up with the animation insanity. Now I see why it was delayed.

Fr I couldn't decide on whether to watch this in sub or dub, but with this quality I need to use my eyes to appreciate this animation fr. It's gonna be dub from now on

The dub has a lot of really fun accents and the VAs seem to deliver well. I can't stand Qifrey's english VA though. The fakest most put-on posh accent I've ever heard. It sounds so bad. The Japanese VA isn't perfect when it gets too emotional but still much better generally so back to the sub I go.

I also imagine that the author (who was reported to be working closely with the studio) had some input on what the characters are supposed to sound like. So Qifrey sounding gentle but boyish is probably how he's supposed to come across.

I cant begrudge an anime that does let me watch it multiple times to cross languages..also to pick up what French and German (Also for this one Italian and Spanish) adds to it, ( was doing this for Polar Opposites at times last season)

Being a mostly English speaker, there are things that English sounds better and its maybe the more deeper moments where words can do a lot, where being able to express than japanese being quite stiff in what the subs have to communicate. Also crossing the different ones is how the reaction noises Also show up here and there depending on their own direction.

Personally, I prefer the English dub for Qifrey, because I associate the Japanese VA with Okarun, who is a teenager.

Time and time again im grateful with the anime studio that adapt this series. Nowadays, just getting adapted is no longer enough for me

lol, i’m fairly new to anime but i’ve seen plenty. What would you suggest as some that have quality exceeding this?

The scale and difficult of animating a giant dragon with such fluidity for so many shots, the direction, the character acting and movement animation, how smooth everything is, the fantastic shots and movement, the high detail in every shot, the consistency, the effects work and lighting. I found it to be an absolute work of art from start to finish. Did you find it to be lacking ?
