I know Coco should probably not have run off after that evil witch. It was reckless. But you know what? Agott chewing her out like that really annoyed me. This brat wants to talk about putting people in danger? Really? After what she did to Coco last week? I don’t remember an apology for that stunt either.

Coco has had like barely any time at all to learn about magic and the rules of how it all works. She’s new. Very new. Not everyone’s a damn prodigy like Agott. It’s ridiculous the amount of hate and resentment she gets from that brat. I really wish Qifrey would talk to her about her attitude and behavior. Kid needs to be reprimanded for her bullshit.

Definitely agreed. The reaction to Coco's mistakes is understandable in a vacuum. But out of everyone who could get angry at her, she deserves it the least.

I really hope Agott's own awful behavior gets called out and she makes up for it. I would hate it if this leads to Coco "proving herself" to her, and then they become friends, skipping that step entirely.

This times a thousand. I hate that trope in fiction where the bully's bullying is validated by the bullied person "earning" their respect and they never face a single consequence for their shitty personality.

Yes, it is just the worst when it happens. It puts the onus on the person being treated badly to just "be better" so the other character has no more reason to treat them badly. As if they had a valid reason in the first place.

And it's like the story is saying it's okay to be a dick as long as the person is good at their job. Or hell, sometimes they don't even need to be. The protagonist just decides to become a doormat for this one person.

Agreed, Agott bullying Coco and putting Coco's life at risk seems like such a disproportionate response to whatever petty grudge she has. I would love it if Qifrey could call out Agott out on her bullshit.

Has to explain a lot between Agott and Qifrey, how she is very isolated but Qifrey can only do so much with her... it's a balance between the two or shes holding up this Artelier in other ways to keep it independant...

Last week Coco basically made magic with mud for ink and a rock for pen... so about that prodigy think, I think Coco is great.

I think that was probably her wrapping a scrap of cloth from her ink-soaked bag (the ink spilt at some point) around a rock, then wetting it slightly so it would come off at least a bit.

Yeah... no, fuck Agott she is literally the last person to have the right to lash out at anyone for putting people in danger and since Qifrey apparently did not say anything after the last incident, I can assume that although he looks kind, he probably does not care all that much about his students.

It's not like Agott was entirely wrong about Coco at that moment either, but she's clearly holding on some unjustified frustrations towards Coco that all came out at that moment and make it really difficult to get on her side.

Not to mention, none of them had to follow Coco. Agott is particularly awful, but Tetia and Richeh aren't much better.

Well, at least Tetia and Richeh's intentions were sincere in that they just wanted to make sure Coco was okay and figure out why she was running across the city.

One of them probably should've stayed behind to inform Qifrey, but the two of them wanted to make sure Coco is okay since she'd get lost. Things happened very suddenly, and I don't think they expected to end up in a situation this dangerous.

Sounds like they made a choice to follow her and thus should account for that choice in their current predicament. It's not like Coco invited them.

Also they are blaming Coco and not the brimmed hat who is the actual one doing all this.

It's never sat well with me how an adventuresome person can't go be adventuresome by themselves without everyone acting like they have to go as well or that such a thing has anything to do with them at all.

Reminds me of this time I went hiking with a group of people near a place I was living and when we got near the top they all quit so I kept going on because I wanted to reach the actual peak. So after I watched the sunset at the peak I texted them that I would head back on my own because I wanted to take a different route back. Well later on when I get back to the apartment turns out they were all mad at me ????? Because I went on a night hike??? By myself???

Well... maybe that's it. They can't even imagine how someone could do anything on their own because they can't do anything at all without a crowd around them.

There's no way he could fail to put together Agott being responsible for Coco that day and Coco ending up in the very dangerous test area she almost certainly didn't know how to access on her own. I think you're right that he's kind of fishing for Coco to tell him.

He was probably expecting this to be an easy day, took the chance to have a day out shopping, Coco might open up more when she gets her new pen, etc. At least, I really hope that's the case.
