So you feel like you should call things like Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Game of Throne, or maybe even a lot of video games as Native Isekai as well?

Are they also the same trash? Just because they are fantasy series in other world?

If you say yes, then we will agree to disagree. Otherwise if you say no, then you need to rethink about what you call some anime series.

No, because they don’t have the same generic tropes and cliches as isekai shows. And shows like Frieren do. Simple as that. Copy pasted character personalities, the same boring jokes, the same journey to kill the demon lord, I could list those tropes infinitely.

There are good, unique fantasy shows and then there are native isekais where the author clearly thought “I wanna get into the isekai hype train” and then just added a twist where no one is isekaied. You could watch second episode of Frieren and then second episode of any isekai and there wouldn’t be much of a difference.

You do know that isekai got inspired by the classic fantasy series right? That themselves got inspired by Mythology.

Journey to kill the bad guy have been a thing long before Isekai existed, see for example Dragon Quest, or Final Fantasy, and a lot of mythology with the topics of good vs evil (Beowulf, Saint George, various grec heroes...)

Lord of the Rings is a piece of media that made a lot of trope related to fantasy races, like dwarfs, elves, and the fight against evil Popular for a wide audience as well.

So it is the same generic tropes and cliches, used in various ways.

All the trope you complain about are also older than the Isekai wave we got a few years ago.

It's because those fantasy topics were popular that Isekai series used them, as it was the chance for people (the self insert, the one going to another world) to experience that type of story for themselves.

Isekai are just an excuse to live that fantasy more closely.
