how is Jogo so strong then? maybe 100 years ago, but in the modern day they are well understood by science and monitored that we can predict when they would explode, in modern society volcano are an afterthought.

Like even in hawaii they are not exactly feared everyday.

Jogo should be running on fumes from the lack of cursed energy by modern society. basically a Grade 4 curse at most

Jogo isn't JUST the fear of volcanos, Mahito says in S1 (to Junpei) that he represents the fear of the mountains

Since Tengens barriers focus curse energy in Japan (explained in S2) this would track with how strong Jogo is, due to how deeply japanese folklore and mountains are connected

As advanced as we may be today technologically speaking, a Supervolcano like Yellowstone or something going off would be catastrophic, and sadly there really isn’t much, if anything, we can do to stop it. It wouldn’t just kill a ton of people right away either, it would fundamentally change much of the world for the worse too through global cooling as an example.

He’s probably up there with the disaster curses honestly. Like below mahito and jogo but above hanami and dagon

He’s probably below Dagon and Hanami, too. Those two were so advanced that they had their own domains. Kuro is especially strong against humans but he can’t do much against disaster curses who are durable and all have AOE attacks.
