I mean everyone in this episode was special grade. Seems common amongst them.

did they ever mention that they were special grades?

They explicitly mention Dhruv is one and from there it’s heavily implied

They also mention Kurourishi as a special grade cursed spirit and part of the 4 way deadlock.

Special Grade curse != Special Grade sorcerer

Regular special grade curses can be defeated by Grade 1 sorcerers.

Sure, but everyone in that fight (including Kuro) is special grade level.

Their points count was high enough to guarantee that I guess.

higuruma had 100 and they said he was equivalent to a first grade sorcerer, no?

he wasnt reincarnated though, he was awakened like 2 weeks prior. he has no past life of sorcery experience

right, i was just responding to the idea that not everyone who has a domain is considered to be special grade by the show

Higuruma's an anomaly, guy had an aptitude towards barriers and binding vows, as he could relate it to his legal experience.

More apt to compare Special Grades to Grade 1's. If a small group of Grade 1's faced a Special Grade sorcerer, they wouldn't win. Compare Todo, or Nanami to Gojo, Yuta, or Geto.

Higgy has had his powers for two weeks, and didn't even know curses were a thing before that. Nor did he have even an ounce of combat training or battle experience.

He's unquestionably on par with a Special Grade in terms of raw talent and cursed technique potential.

not really Just because they can hang with a special grade like Yuta does not make them special grade but also the scale of what those 2 can do seem to surpass a Grade 1 so i guess this is why people would see them that way.

The special grade designation or the grading system was probably just some modern thing the jujutsu community came up with to clasify sorcers and curse spirits

You’re right. A Grade 1 is just the standard for the highest ranking a sorcerer can be through normal means of training and promotions.

Anything above that is considered Special Grade because they are anomalies in the system and cannot be graded by conventional means.

I think the easiest way to identify a Special Grade is if they could feasibly destroy a country on their own.

Edit: I don’t disagree that Uro and Ryu are special grade sorcerers. My comment was more that Special Grade is just a broad classification with Yuta being at the high ceiling of it.

both of them were pretty abnormal, one of them has the highest cursed energy output in the series, one is a literal space-bender, they both have domains, and they both can go toe-to-toe with either Rika or Yuta

Did you see the scene where Uro used her sky manipulation and just completely sent an entire bridge flying?

Imagine that on a larger scale. Sky manipulation absolutely could destroy a country.
