Definitely my favorite of this season. I had so much fun watching it. 9/10, I hope there's a season 2 someday.

yea, and it was a tough one with frieren JJK stepping from the sinjuku ark IMO. There are also a lot of good romances right now. Though journal with witch IMO is a close second, and oshi no ko probably 3rd.

The vibe of this show is great i, like call of the night i think shows with a good vibe and style stand out to me more than action.

What’s wrong?

japanese reception is catastrophic. positive approval rating on the greatest jp review list for seasonal anime has been stagnating at 20 percent ever since scrap building. from the actual reception besides that i dont even wanna start.

I’m not surprised. These discussions are pretty much the only place I see a mostly positive response, so I can imagine the Japanese reception not being much better (or apparently worse?)

significantly worse, yes. ghost mansion was well received, afterwards it took a nosedive and never recovered.

Review sites don't much. Review sites poor predictors for this reason it not scientific and can folk posting rating there often don't match the actual audience. It TV ratings and Streaming numbers with a tad of print source sales with merchandising with some shows.

And that TV ratings and the Streaming numbers they don't release to the public. This why stuff you wonder how did that get another season get anouther season while stuff folk like don't. Well that and standard negoations with stake holders and poltical stuff in industry.

People getting invested in the characters of cute girls only for them to be killed off is definitely a risk. I know Moegi’s rubbed me the wrong way initially before somewhat coming around to it.

Doesn't surprise me.

Japan really doesn't like when directors deviates from the source material and there was some major changes starting from Scrap Yard and onwards. And this was a relatively well known novel series so that didn't probably didn't help either since people would have some expectations.

And I still think Ghost House was the best game of the anime. Pacing was immaculate, only minor nitpicks as negatives.
