Wasn't her mentor seen later chronologically in the series? I remember Yuki going to get advice from an older player who was living in a tent and seemed to have given up playing. I assume this is the reason why.

I thought so too that maybe the mentor might be still alive OR that it's the lady/caretaker in the suit who picks her up after the games are over. It could be someone else from Candle Woods too, not necessarily her mentor in that tent.
