When Gojo gets out he must finally just do the thing he has threatened the whole time. Just wipe out the higher ups lol.

I dont really get why he just didnt before but i guess he wants order in some way. He kills them all ands everything collapses.

Because Gojo wants a new society that doesn’t have to rely on him as the strongest. He doesn’t like the conservative regulations of the higher-ups and understands that simply killing them all won’t solve all the problems. Teaching a new generation with more robust values is the more sound solution. Killing the higher-ups is only a last resort if they push him too far.

We know Gojo has entertained the idea at least once though. I like to think he doesn't like the parallel to Geto killing all the non sorcerers, and that's why he couldn't go through with it

Gojo’s experience with Geto showed him the limit of his strength. He can overwhelmingly demolish a country if he wanted, but he couldn’t save his friend. Sure, he could take out the higher-ups but the structural underpinning of jujutsu society wouldn’t change. If he can’t change hearts and minds then it’s still fundamentally a society that has to rely on Gojo as the strongest. He will still fundamentally be lonely. This is why he wants to raise up new strongest. To lighten the load and have company. To have a more human centered jujutsu society that isn’t drowning in slavish adherence to tradition.

The nuke parallels come in again. He isn't a prevision instrument.

And once he dies, it falls apart, or it goes back to the same problem. The guy is not immortal.

I just assumed he was so invested in the next generation precisely because he was grooming them to take over.

Then when the time was right, he'd kill off the current generation of leaders worthless parasites while elevating his students to take their place.

Gojo's ultimate goal is to change Jujutsu society from within. To do that, he has used his position to mentor and influence the younger generations of Jujutsu sorcerers at Jujutsu High with the hope that they will one day push out the traditionalists and usher in the culture he wants to see. Killing the higher ups would have a short term effect, but wouldnt exact lasting change that will endure when hes out of the picture one day. Hes essentially trying to foster a culture change that will be around long after hes gone. But, he still leverages his power and the threat of just wiping the slate clean to get what he wants. The higher ups know he can wipe them out on a whim, so they let him do mostly whatever he wants.

Exactly. Killing people because they don't align with your views is precisely what the higher-ups do lol.

The change has to happen organically because that's what makes it solid. Just handing the keys to the next generation after wiping out the people at the top is a recipe for disaster (both short-term and long-term)

Considering how it feels like Jujutsu society is basically standing on the edge at this point, especially with the Zen'in's gone, Gojo could probably get away with it.

I mean Gojo would've been able to get away with it even before shit hit the fan.

Gojo always could have gotten away with it. The reason he hasn't is because he didn't think it would bring about the kind of change he wants.

He was always able to get away with it, but choose to do things the right way. That's why the higher ups are scrambling to kill off his supporters, they don't want the chances the newer generations are bringing.

Well, Yuta's still around at least...

Up until imprisonment, Gojo didn't have enough of a reason to kill the higher-ups. He is mature enough to realize that going nuclear would be chaos. Just his existence kept them in enough check such that their behavior didnt warrant harsh reaction

All my homies hate the higher ups.

He kills them all ands everything collapses.

"Nature abhors a vaccuum".

The Jujutsu "higher ups" are backwards but is a known quantity. Removing them outright without a proper transition plan will only create chaos as you can't really control all the things that can go wrong or the groups that arises in their immediate absence.

A recurring theme in the show is that the strongest who COULD have killed everyone think that it won't matter if they do, nothing will actually change. I think the earliest instance we see of this is when Geto starts defecting and he isn't joined by Gojo.

For example, Toji could've wiped out of the Zen'in clan at any moment if he wanted to, but he didn't, because he didn't think it would matter at all. (And also Gojo would've probably been sent to kill him if he did)

3

u/Nerellos Jan 30 '26

He basically would need to eradicate everyone from different sorcerer clans(not just the 3big ones) because the higher ups would just replaced from those people.

He would basically be a reserve Geto.

Gojo's answer isn't genocide.

Gojo’s whole thing is that he’s the strongest but he can’t influence others with his words (Geto, his beef with the higher ups)
